Hunter's surprise confession on Book Hooks #MFRWhooks, #MFRWAuthor
Welcome to Victoria's Pages of Romance and Book Hooks. This week's 6 to 8 sentences are from my NA contemporary romance – A Guy and A Girl
Scene Set –Final snippet from the scene in the strip club where a tray of drinks was spilled down Hunter's chest. Last week he joked that the ice cubes has slid into his pants.
Chelsea's mind wandered back to Hunter. She flexed her fingers, remembering the feel of his chest and the firmness of his bicep. She visualized the sparkle in his eyes when he told her not to laugh. He has a nice smile."One Diet Coke with ice and a cute, little, straw umbrella thing, and two beers," said Hunter as he brushed against Chelsea delivering the drinks. "Managed to get them here this time.""Wet underwear?"He winked and said, "If I was wearing any."
BlurbLies, deceits and secrets - not a good way to begin a relationship.
After an ugly past forced Hunter Connolly to escape to Europe, the talented hockey player is back in North America and determined to land a position with a professional team. But he can’t hide from his past forever, especially when his beautiful classmate, Chelsea, forces him to reexamine his life. Soon, hockey is not his first priority anymore.
Chelsea Henderson is a bright co-ed working towards her dream of being a professional dancer. She forms a unique friendship with one of her father’s newest recruits and would love nothing more than to take it to the next level. However, there’s just one small problem. He doesn’t know she’s his coach’s daughter.Amid the deceptions, danger lurks closer than they could ever imagine. Will fate contrive to rip the young lovers apart? Or will Hunter and Chelsea have their shot at love?

Title: Maia and the Secrets of ZagranSeries: The Lightbound Saga #2Author: S.G. BasuPublished: December 15th, 2014Genre: YA Sci-Fi Fantasy Synopsis: Thirteen-year-old Maia thinks she has seen it all.She has survived an assassination attempt, she has been threatened by a chancellor, and she has faced off with saboteurs trying to bring down a nation. She lets nothing get to her anymore-not the ominous nightmares she has been having lately, not the fear of being targeted for another soul extraction, not even the memories of her dead mother’s terrifying communique. More than ever, Maia wants the Initiative to resume. She longs to visit Zagran-the undersea capital of the Jjord. She wants to ride the underwater transport lines, learn about the Jjordic energy farms and most of all-she wants to goof off with her friends. But, around the charming city of Zagran, evil is gathering. Maia and her friends do not know it yet, this is just the beginning of a terrifying end. Amazon | Barnes & Noble | GoodReadsExcerpt from The Lightbound Saga by S.G. Basu:Carefully, she opened the small lid, slipped her hand cautiously inside, and reached for the crystal. A flash of light followed by a searing pain that shot through her arm stunned Maia for a moment. Blinking rapidly, she focused her eyes and screamed. The L’miere crystal had vanished. A thin wisp of smoke rose from the moss where the crystal had lain just moments ago. Maia pulled out her hand and shook the pod, hoping that she had maybe . . . somehow . . . just maybe . . . pushed it into a crevice or something. But the pod remained empty; only the lava rock sat on its mossy bed, in blissful ignorance. Ren would know. She ran out of the room, up the staircase toward the Snoso, and smack dab into the middle of a portly frame. Maia would have gone flying and crashed into the wall had it not been for the hands that gripped her firmly by the shoulders. “Well, well, well. If it isn’t my old friend Maia,” the voice of Principal Pomewege bellowed. “And what is the rush, child?” Maia started to murmur an apology. She must have not made much sense, because the principal interrupted her midway. “Is something wrong?” His eyes shone with concern. Everything is wrong. “Nothing, sir,” she lied. “Well, you seem to be in a hurry, so I won’t keep you.” Pomewege smiled. “But if there is anything I can help you with, just let me know.” He turned away, and Maia took a few steps before she rushed back toward the principal. “Principal Pomewege, I think . . . I . . . I destroyed something,” she stammered.

Robert sets the rules on Weekend Writing Warriors #8sunday
Welcome to another weekend of Weekend Writing Warriors. My 8 sentence snippet this week is from my first release from my NA contemporary romance – Dancing in Circles- Book 1 of Circles Trilogy. Scene Set -The fight continues – Stephen swung. Robert caught the fist and twisted it behind Stephan's back.
"Any of your friends charge us, and I break your arm," said Robert as he scanned the crowd. "Now that you're all calmer, we can talk. I can't fight you here. You'll get your wrist slapped, but I'd get expelled." He pointed at his chest and continued, "Durin' school hours, on school property, I won't fight. After school, across the street in the park - you and me. If ya don't show...." Robert exerted more force to the elbow, released it, glanced over at Stephan's teammates then left.
Blurb – One born into privilege and a charmed life surrounded by love and family. The other born to a life of violence on the streets as the solemn gang leader of the notorious Shoresmen. A young, idealistic co-ed, Julie, meets a jaded, cold gang member, Robert, and cracks his icy shell, allowing the warmth of her love to awaken his soul.
Exclusively at – Amazon
What people are saying about Dancing in Circles5 stars - Julie I liked, but Robert, loved that guy. He's thrown some insurmountable circumstances to overcome, but he manages a way around it all quite nicely. While he may be the 'bad boy', he still has a heart of gold. The author did a nice job expressing that while we may not all travel the same paths in life, we still are essentially the same people and deserve happiness alike.
5 Stars - I loved the cover, as well as the story. I liked the school setting, and the description in the beginning of Julie and her friends. Julie is the dreamer, searching for a happy ending. I also liked Robert, who is a "bad boy" gang leader. "from the wrong side of the tracks," etc. One of Julie's relatives says he has a heart of gold, and he does. He's smart and practical and I think he's great.
5 Stars - Author Victoria Adams does an excellent job at bringing characters to life. I really enjoyed living through Julie's dream of becoming a dancer and her connection with Robert. Yeah, Robert may have gotten himself in the wrong crowd, but he really does portray a compassionate person and in the end he really does grow on you. Can't wait to see the next one in the series!

From Dancing in Cirlces - Julie thinks about tomorrow on My Sexy Saturday
Heading into a sexy tomorrow - from my NA contemporary romance Dancing in Circles - book 1 of Circles Trilogy
scene set - Julie is thinking about her new friendship with classmate Robert. As she nestled down to sleep, Julie wondered how she should handle this friendship. She hoped her friends might understand. She wondered if her family would. Julie wished it was Monday, so she could see Robert, even if only across the classroom. Things should be calmer at school, after all, he'd survived two fights. She sighed. What else could go wrong?

How Chelsea met Hunter on Book Boyfriend Cafe #HotForFriday
'); The first time a couple meets is always a highlight.
From my NA contemporary romance - A Guy and A Girl.
scene set - Chelsea and Hunter meet at the vending machine at college. The class shuffled books and papers then wandered out of the room. Hunter stopped in front of a vending machine, pulled a handful of change from his pocket and dropped it into the slot. The girl from class paused at the coffee dispenser next to him. "OJ at this hour of the day? Oh, that rhymed."Hunter chuckled, as his gaze scanned her long lean torso and tanned legs."Don't you need something a little stronger? I know I do." She pressed Coffee. Black."Unfortunately, this isn't early for me. I've been up since six-fifteen." He kept his gaze fixed on her while he removed the cap and chugged half the orange juice."6:15." She shuddered. "Is it even daylight then?" She sipped her steaming coffee."This time of year, yeah.""I hope I never see that hour."Hunter fumbled with his drink, caught it, then laughed before wiping his lip. "I know what you mean. It isn't my decision to be up that early. Do you know where 136 is?""Follow me. I'm Chelsea.""Nice name." He held out his hand. "Hunter." When she offered hers, he gripped it. Her tiny fingers were dwarfed by his, her skin smooth and soft. The top of her head didn't quite reach his shoulder. He had to fight to keep from losing himself in her smile.Together they walked towards the seminar room. Chelsea glanced sideways at him. "I take it you're new?"He nodded. "Did Professor Campbell—""Like the soup company.""Like the soup company. Go from Mr. Grumpy to Mr. Nice-guy? Or did I miss something?""No. The man took a sharp turn to the left. Speaking of which." She pointed to an open door. The tables in the seminar room were set up in a square with students seated around. Yes. Two seats, side by side. Play it cool, dude. Hunter pulled out a chair for Chelsea then settled next to her.
Exclusively at Amazon One of the reviews of A Guy and A Girl4 stars A Guy and A Girl took me by surprise. When I began reading, it took me a little while to adjust to reading through multiple perspectives. After I read a few chapters I easily adapted. Knowing what is going on in a scene through several characters gave this story a true YA/New Adult feel.
I enjoyed the plot twists and turns, the suspense, and especially the ending. It is a bit longer of a read than most YA/NA books, but again, it worked for me. Ms Adams wrote as if she was inside these young characters' heads, and it made the story come alive.
