From a Guy and A Girl - Chelsea and Hunter finally have that first kiss on Book Boyfriends Cafe #HotForFriday

'); This week's snippet is a first kiss. From A Guy and A Girl - Chelsea and Hunter finally cross that line.

Chelsea closed her eyes during the gory battle scene and listened to the slashes of a sword through flesh and the screams. The scene and mood changed as the young friends moved their relationship towards love. A tense shiver raced through Chelsea as the hero removed his lover's dress. She imagined the sensation of Hunter sliding his hand over her shoulder."I should go before I get any ideas." "Ah!" Chelsea jumped. "Gawd, I thought you were asleep.""Just dozing. I was awake through the whole battle. Through which, I might add, you kept your eyes closed."Soft moans from the movie filled the room. Hunter shifted himself under Chelsea and stared into her eyes. She couldn't look away. She didn't want to. She imagined his lips inching closer. Kiss me. Please."I don't know if this is the right thing. But I really wanna do this." He pressed his lips against hers.

This week's 13 sentences come from my NA contemporary hockey romance – A Guy and A Girl #Thursday13

Scene set – Hunter and hockey friend, Zach, chat."Zach, you got a roommate?""Yeah, dude." He held up his left hand. "My wife."Hunter rubbed his chin. "And I suppose she'd be opposed to the three of us bunking together.""I know your off-the-ice record." Zach snorted. "I'd be opposed to your bunking with us.""I'm deeply hurt." Hunter placed his hand over his heart. "Teammates are supposed to trust each other."Zach rolled his eyes and took a large bite out of his sandwich.

Welcome to Book Hooks.
Scene set - Handcuffed and on stage in a strip club, Hunter chats with his arresting officer.

When the screams of audience settled, Hunter turned to the stripper. "You know, officer, she looked a lot like you. She had long red hair, stunning green eyes, edible red lips and…" His gaze scanned the black leather. "One helluva body."
"My twin sister." She ran her tongue over her top lip. "And the things she told me about you."

Starla Kaye and her latest cowboy romance - For Ruby’s Love

Let me introduce Starla Kaye and her latest book For Ruby’s Love.

Please tell us about yourself and your latest book. I’m addicted to writing, which I consider a good thing, and I’m a happily-ever-after kind of person. So I write romance because I can’t help myself, but I can’t confine my romance writing to just one sub-genre. I have written contemporary, historical (Western, Medieval, and Regency), paranormal, sci-fi, and GLBT. But my favorite heroes are cowboysFOR RUBY’S LOVE is a combination of all of my favorites: a stubborn cowboy, a sexy businessman, and a spirited cowgirl. A horse therapist, Ruby arrives at the Calhoun’s ranch to work with a traumatized horse. He immediately says NO! because (1) she’s a woman, (2) she’s small, and (3) she’s a woman. His lover, Daniel, tries to convince Calhoun to give her a chance. Did I mention the cowboy is stubborn? Basically, everyone’s life is about to change.
Have you written other books? Their titles and genres.I’ve published 20 novels, 38 novellas, 18 short stories, and 8 anthologies to date with Decadent Publishing, Black Velvet Seductions, and Blushing Books. My complete book list is on my website at http://starlakaye.com/my-books/my-complete-book-list/

Writers often mention their characters talk to them? Do yours chat with you?Yes, my characters “talk” to me and usually at the most inopportune times…like in the middle of the night. Somewhere in my lighter dream state is normally when I have the epiphany moment about where the story line needs to be going, or what my characters decide needs to happen next. After writing over 70 stories, I have accepted the fact that the stories are not mine to tell. They belong to the characters. My writing time goes much better if I let them have their way, within reason.
Have you ever based a character on someone you knew? Did you tell that person?I can’t really say that any of my romances written as Starla Kaye are fully based on someone I knew. But I also write relationship stories about people over age 55 under my real name, Starla Criser, and a few of those are based on people I have known. And, yes, they do know about that and love the idea.
Short question time.Favourite TV show?  Rizzoli and Isles because of the two spunky main female characters.
If Hollywood called, which actor should play the hero or heroine in your book?  Alex O’Loughlin (from Hawaii Five-0) would be good in most of my heroes’ roles.
Three things you'd want on a deserted island. (1) My iPad with my huge library of Kindle books, but it would need to have a magical battery that would never die. (2) Alex O’Loughlin, just for fun. (3) A case of Angry Orchard Hard Cider.
Favourite thing to do on a vacation?  I travel a lot, so it is hard to pin down a favorite thing. I like riding tour buses around a bigger city (like Paris or London) to get a quick glimpse of where I want to go back and really see.

Blurb – Calhoun’s a simple cowboy with more problems in his life than he can handle at the moment. After nearly two years, he struggles to hang onto a relationship with Daniel, his first male lover. Daniel is worried about him because of the fire, his concern for his prized breeding mare, and because he is determined to buy the neighboring ranch to expand. But Daniel isn’t a businessman without goals of his own for expansion, a fact that frustrates Calhoun as well. He doesn’t want to lose Daniel, but will their differences finally be too much?Daniel considers himself a lucky man to have met the rancher, someone almost his opposite and someone who he doesn’t want to live without. Standing beside the moody Calhoun has been difficult since the fire that burned down a horse barn, took the lives of two valuable horses, and traumatized a favored mare. Along with all of that, his harried friend is determined to expand his ranch holdings. Daniel is against the purchase and would prefer to find a way to slow the man down. Lately, he’s also begun worrying if maybe he isn’t enough to satisfy his lover’s needs.Complicating everything even more, Ruby shows up later than expected at Calhoun’s ranch to honor a job as a horse therapist that her father had agreed to before his sudden death. She knows what happened to the mare and is certain she can help her, if given the chance. But the stubborn rancher can’t get past the idea of her being a woman, someone not strong enough to work with such a damaged horse. They butt heads over the matter until she finds an ally in Daniel. He is concerned and yet believes in her abilities. Another problem arises, though. She and Calhoun have been skirting around an unwanted attraction, and then she discovers another surprising interest between her and Daniel.
Excerpt He pulled open the over-sized front door and gaped at the bit of a woman shivering on the porch. She appeared a foot shorter than him and a good sixty or more pounds lighter. What hit him most were her eyes—an odd dark green, like jade or something. Her eyes narrowed as he looked her over. Finally, she stretched to her full minimal height and bristled at him. “When you’re done checking me out, do you think you could let me inside? It’s colder than cold out here.”Daniel stepped beside him and intervened. “Let the lady in, Cal.” He looked around her and asked, “Where’s your car? Assuming you drove here.”She slid between them into the tiled foyer before turning back. “No car. And I didn’t drive here, at least not exactly.” Her teeth chattered.Calhoun closed the door against the sharp winter breeze and watched her pull off a battered pink Stetson, unveiling chin-length strawberry-blonde hair. “What does ‘not exactly’ mean?” He added, “Who are you, anyway?”She worried her trembling lower lip and glanced from him to Daniel and back. She pulled off a glove and stuck out her hand. “Ruby McMurtry.”Instead of taking her hand, he puffed up in annoyance. “You’re late! Where’s your father?”She started to lower her hand, glowering at him.  But he noticed something besides anger in the depths of those enchanting eyes. He couldn’t get a handle on the emotion. While he tried to calm down, wishing he hadn’t jumped on her, Daniel reached out and shook her very red-looking hand. “You feel like ice,” he said in concern. He took a second to scowl at him.As she blinked at her hand sandwiched between Daniel’s, her already pink-chilled cheeks turned pinker. “I should’ve worn my thicker gloves,” she muttered in clear discomfort. When she managed to slip free, she glared at him.A twinge of guilt about his rude behavior passed through him, but his anger came out first as he repeated himself. “Where’s your father? I have a serious bone to pick with him.”Those eyes that still captivated him welled up with tears. His gut tightened. Her lower lip wobbled and she sputtered, “He…he…he’s dead.”

Robert's reply to Julie's - I don't want to be -- on Weekend Writing Warriors #8Sunday

Welcome to another weekend of Weekend Writing Warriors. My 8 sentence snippet this week is from my first release from my NA contemporary romance – Dancing in Circles - Book 1 of Circles Trilogy.
Scene Set – Julie has invited Robert out to lunch. We ended last week with her saying – "I don't want to be—"
"Seen with me?""No, that's not it." She stepped back a pace, relieving the tension his presence caused in her. "I find you an enigma. I'd like to chat.""Well, you're arousin' my curiosity. What do Westland girls, with a body like yours, eat for lunch? Ya don't look like the cheeseburger and fries type."

Blurb – One born into privilege and a charmed life surrounded by love and family. The other born to a life of violence on the streets as the solemn gang leader of the notorious Shoresmen. A young, idealistic co-ed, Julie, meets a jaded, cold gang member, Robert, and cracks his icy shell, allowing the warmth of her love to awaken his soul.

What people are saying about Dancing in Circles5 Stars - Author Victoria Adams does an excellent job at bringing characters to life. I really enjoyed living through Julie's dream of becoming a dancer and her connection with Robert. Yeah, Robert may have gotten himself in the wrong crowd, but he really does portray a compassionate person and in the end he really does grow on you. Can't wait to see the next one in the series!

Where are the aliens when a guy needs them? on My Sexy Saturday #MySexySaturday, #Saturday7, #MSS88

Sometimes the "I got you" is just being there to support the one you love -even though you really don't want to be there.

Scene set - Julie wants to perform her dance routine for her parents and family. Robert would rather be abducted by aliens.

She slipped her dance bag over her shoulder. "You don't mind doing this, do you?""Yea, but I'll survive." He paused. Was he being honest? Could he catch her? Would his shoulder and hand allow him? She slipped her hands around his waist. "Any regrets about giving up the guys?""Naw. I quit because I wanted to." He draped his arms over her shoulders. "I don't need them anymore. I think I'm ready to face the world on my own.""I'm so proud of you." She stretched up and planted a kiss on his cheek. "You handled yourself well earlier. I was shocked at what grandfather was saying, but now I understand what he was doing. I don't think he—"Robert pressed his index finger on her lips. "I understand, believe me, I understand. I wouldn't trust me so why should he? Sorry about the wall. I'll fix it later." He held out his hand. "Come on, let's go show off what you're good at,"he said as they walked hand in hand down the stairs and out to the waiting cars. At the dance studio, Carl and Mr. Anderson arranged chairs while Julie warmed up. When everyone was seated, she explained about her dance. "This was an assignment for Madame. It's sort of about my relationship with Robert." She giggled. "Be nice to him. He hates doing this. He's standing in the hall probably wishing an alien would beam him out of here."

Is the love of a girl from wealthy Westland and a street punk from the slums of the Shore strong enough to surpass all that life will throw at them and forge a life together? Is Julie willing to sacrifice her childhood dream of becoming a professional dancer for the man she loves? Is Robert willing to lay down his ties to the gang in order to hold onto his new found love?
Sacrifices must be made, but will they be enough?

Circles Divided Excerpt on this week's Book Boyfriend Cafe #HotForFriday

');
A flirty hot scene from Book 2 of Circles Trilogy - Circles Divided

Scene set - Gang member Robert is waiting outside Julie's dance class.

He sat on his motorcycle, leaning on the handlebars. His helmet rested on his lap and the wind blew through his hair. He wore his jean jacket on over his leather jacket to ward off the brisk November air. His long fingers stuck out of his cut off gloves. His unshaven face broke into a lopsided grin when he saw her step through the doorway.Julie flung her dance bag over her shoulder, stood erect, raised her head so her nose tilted up and walked along the sidewalk."Hey lady." Robert nodded towards the dance studio. "You see a cute little ballerina in there?"She turned her head only enough to glance at him then continued walking.Robert dismounted his bike, scooted up behind her and spun her to face him. "I was talkin' to you. And I don't like bein' ignored."Julie rolled her eyes and yawned."Too good to talk to me, eh?" He grinned. "Maybe I should check to see if your mouth is broken." He slid his hands into her coat, around her waist and under her blouse. As his lips touched hers, Robert placed his icy fingers on her warm bare back. She jumped and squealed. "Your hands are freezing.""Yea, but my lips are warm." He pulled her tighter and kissed her again.Despite the coolness of the November evening, a flash of heat surged through her."Bought you a present. Like I promised." He unzipped his jacket and pulled out a long stemmed rose, tucked it into her coat and did up a few buttons to protect it. "From one heart to another.""Thank you. It's beautiful." She kissed him. "I love you.""I love you, too. Now, let's go, I'm hungry."

This week's 13 sentences – what's Hunter been doing since the Timberwolves incident - NA contemporary hockey romance – A Guy and A Girl #Thursday13

Scene set – We learn what Hunter's been doing for the past 4 years after the Timberwolves incident.
Hunter stepped closer to the table, grabbed a pop and pulled the tab. "Played in some semi-pro leagues then decided it was time to come home from Europe."Zach picked up a plate and placed several sandwich halves on it. "I pity those Europeans having to deal with The Hunter.""You're The Hunter?" An eager-eyed recruit stood next to Zach. "I've heard about you. The police officer explains Hunter's "arrest" on Book Hooks #MFRWhooks #MFRWAuthor

Welcome to this week's Book Hooks.
Scene set - Hunter has been escorted in handcuffs to the stage by the female police officer.

Hunter handed his tray to Chelsea. "Arrested for what? I ain't done nothin'."
"That's not what I've heard." She clicked the other handcuff onto her wrist. "Last night, there was a sweet, young, innocent nurse here. Ring any bell?"Hunter grinned and nodded.

5 Stars- I loved this book...I think that it was an awesome story. It was interesting on how everything came about as well as some surprises on who was doing what. I liked how the couple had issues that would be real life issues as well. Very well written, can't wait to read more books by Victoria as well as maybe some more in relation to characters in the book.
5 Stars - What a great romance. Fast paced. Chock full of tension. Little bit of hockey Little bit of dance. Lots of love.
