Spotlight on David Ebsworth's The Last Campaign of Marianne Tambour

1815 - On the bloody fields of Waterloo, a battle-weary canteen mistress of Bonaparte’s Imperial Guard battalions must fight to free her daughter from all the perils that war will hurl against them – before this last campaign can kill them both.
“Superb! David Ebsworth has really brought these dramatic events to life. His description of the fighting is particularly vivid and compelling.”  (Andrew W. Field, author of Waterloo: The French Perspective and its companion volume, Prelude to Waterloo: Quatre Bras)
A novel of action and intrigue based on the real-life exploits of two women who fought, in their own right, within Napoleon’s army.
Includes a Battlefield Tour Guide for those wanting to follow the route taken by the story’s main characters or to visit the sites of the 1815 Waterloo Campaign.

Newly released - 4th in the series - Prophecy's Language from Award Winning author Brenda Dyer

I should be Writing--Grrr
Hello to you all. My name is Brenda, and I’m thrilled to be here today. Thank you for featuring me and my book, Victoria.Since we’re showcasing my latest release, Prophecy’s Language, book #4 in the Prophecy Series, I decided to talk about my writing process, lol.Did you notice the title? Notice the Grr?*Shakes head and laughs*Let me tell you a bit about myself. I’m a little bit—*holds thumb and forefinger half an inch apart*— of a procrastinator...LOL, who the heck am I kidding here? I’m a HUGE procrastinator. And being one, I waste a lot of the time I should be writing scrolling on fb, laughing and joking around with friends. But, I’m not alone. My good friends, and fellow authors, Lisa and D’Ann are also part time procrastinators. The good thing about having friends who share the same affliction is we can kick each other in the butt, and we know just how to do it. Sometimes.Yet, some days, there’s no amount of ass-whooping that can make the words flow. Sometimes the words get jammed up in my head like logs blocking a river. This isn’t to be confused with writer’s block—that is a whole other post, lol.Simply put, sometimes I have trouble finding the right words to describe what I’m trying to say. Sometimes I have a hard time getting the scene from my head into words. I can see it, feel it, hear it, but the darn words just won’t come. And when that happens, I resort to my bad habits, like spending my time on facebook. Or baking cookies—and for those who know me, know I love cookies...maybe a little too much. The more I eat, the more time I have to spend exercising. Vicious circle, people, lolol.I do need to change. I need to be able to be a more productive writer. But how? I’ve tried the self-discipline. Tried having a set time to write. Tried to force the words. GRRR, but I’m a writer who simply can’t write under duress—self appointed or otherwise. So, what does this have to do with my latest book? In Prophecy’s Language, Eleanor—the heroine—is an author. And she is a good one, lol. She has ten books under her belt, and her new vampire series is burning up the charts.AHHHH, I want to be just like her one day.Who knows? Maybe there’s a bit of me in Eleanor, lol?
Thank you all for stopping by.

Title: Prophecy’s LanguageSeries: Prophecy SeriesVolume: #4
Blurb:She’ll need persistence to break through to his heart
Author Eleanor Donavon’s life is finally going her way. She kicked her mentally abusive ex-husband to the curb, and her writing career is taking off. But her contented world changes when a stranger, who’s the spitting image of one of her fictional vampire warriors, appears in her home on the pretense of whisking her away on a vacation. Believing him to be a cover model sent by her agent, Eleanor takes him up on his offer in hopes of getting to know him better. When she learns the truth about who he is, and the reason behind her imprisonment, her existence is rocked to the core. Now caught in the brutal politics surrounding the vampires, her only hope of surviving is to trust Sin. To complicate matters, she’s spellbound by the fierce warrior and falling for him hard. With her heart at stake, she must somehow break through his icy defenses to the man inside or forever lose him to his haunted past.
Her love gives him the faith to live again
Sin lives by his own code: don’t care for anyone and you won’t let them down. His past actions taught him that valuable lesson. When he receives the mission to abduct Eleanor, a beautiful author writing about the Vampire Prophecy, his heart jolts awake. For the first time in years he yearns to go against his principles and make her his forever, but fear won’t allow it. When she becomes a target of the Sacred Order, Sin risks his career to save her, but the real danger lurks when he realizes he can’t stop his head-on collision with love.   Website: http://www.brendamdyer.blogspot.comTwitter:  https://twitter.com/BrendaMDyer

Robert's response to Julie's invitation to lunch on Weekend Writing Warriors #8Sunday

Welcome to another weekend of Weekend Writing Warriors. My 8 sentence snippet this week is from my first release from my NA contemporary romance – Dancing in Circles - Book 1 of Circles Trilogy.
Scene Set – Robert's response to Julie's invitation to lunch."Why?"  That wasn't what he wanted to say. In reality, he wanted to run down the hall shouting, "YES!", but he so knew that wouldn't look cool."Because I asked?" Because the words just came out of my mouth."Guess so. Where?""Not here. I don't want to be—"

Blurb – One born into privilege and a charmed life surrounded by love and family. The other born to a life of violence on the streets as the solemn gang leader of the notorious Shoresmen. A young, idealistic co-ed, Julie, meets a jaded, cold gang member, Robert, and cracks his icy shell, allowing the warmth of her love to awaken his soul.

What people are saying about Dancing in Circles5 Stars - I loved the cover, as well as the story. I liked the school setting, and the description in the beginning of Julie and her friends. Julie is the dreamer, searching for a happy ending. I also liked Robert, who is a "bad boy" gang leader. "from the wrong side of the tracks," etc. One of Julie's relatives says he has a heart of gold, and he does. He's smart and practical and I think he's great.

A bit of sexual tension from Victoria Adams' Circles Interlocked on Book Boyfriends Cafe #HotForFriday

');
From book 3 of Circles Trilogy - Circles Interlocked

Scene set - Julie and Robert in bed.

Memories flooded her mind; laughing in class, kissing, eating supper together and being wrapped in each other's arms. How could she have driven him away? She had loved him. He'd loved her. She should've guessed what he'd done and not so many years hating him. She should've trusted him. Trusted those eyes, hands and lips. "I'm so sorry."He slid his body up hers. She could feel his hardness pressing against her belly. "You wanna talk?""I...I...feel...""You feel soft and feminine and decidedly sensuous. You feel and smell like the woman I love. She loves and forgives me for all of my faults and misdeeds and I had forgiven her long ago." He rolled over to his back and settled Julie on his stomach. "You sound like a woman whose head's lost in a whirlwind. Unable to focus on what's important."His hands roamed across her, leaving a trail of tingling sparkles in her flesh. "Forget about the past. Don't think about the future. I'm here and I want your attention. I want to make love to you." Julie felt her insides grow hot, her skin flushed and her toes curled in excitement. His voice deepened. "What I really want to do is to shatter your evening. To feel your heat and passion as your control gives way to an animal lust."
Latest review -  yes, this is from a friend, but her reaction is great.

Did you really have to put me through the wringer???  I really thought they weren't going to end up together and I really thought he had cheated on her, the bastard.  He got paid back with the jail bit though so all is well with the world.  I liked that part served him right.
Anyways, thanks for letting me read your book don't know if my heart can handle all the ups and downs sometimes!  There were a few moments when I was really thinking that you suck but then they got back together.  Liked the dance part too.  First time I have read a book and wanted to throw it across the room a couple of times.  Good thing it wasn't paperback format.

Hunter is escorted in handcuffs from A Guy and A Girl on Book Hooks #MFRWhooks #MFRWAuthor

Welcome to this week's Book Hooks - a snippet from my contemporary hockey romance - A Guy and A Girl

Scene Set -Hunter's interaction with the stripper.

The evening passed in a blur of beer, watching the strippers, flashing neon lights and brief moments with Hunter. While he was delivering the third round of drinks, the music stopped and a voice called, "Hunter Connolly."He placed Chelsea's beer on the table then looked at the stage. A female stripper dressed as motorcycle cop stood in the centre of the stage. "I said, Hunter Connolly!""What?" The spotlight searched the bar until it found him."You're under arrest," said as she walked through the crowd, grabbed Hunter's wrist, slapped a handcuff on it and escorted him to the stage.

Paranormal and Alternate World Romance - Eban (The Heckmasters, Book 2)

Eban (The Heckmasters, Book 2)Samhain PublishingPublished: April 7, 2015ISBN: 9781619226340Categories: Romance, Paranormal & Alternate Worlds, Paranormal
Blurb:If love can’t save them, there will be hell to pay.
Grateful for his mother’s human blood that cools the dark fire of his demon father, Eban Heckmaster has set up a medical practice in New Mexico territory. But there’s no hope of living a normal life until he rids himself of a seductive demon that’s been pursuing him.
Vanquishing it won’t be as simple as sharpening his demon-hunting sword. The clever creature is hiding inside his best friend’s head, and she has no idea of the havoc she’s been wreaking, especially with his body.
Beryl suspects Eban knows why she’s been waking up with no memory of where she’s been or what she’s done, but he’s not talking. But when she inevitably learns what he’s hiding—or rather, what’s hiding inside her—she wonders if her love for him is real, or an illusion created by the demon’s lust.
Eban is losing the battle to hold his rising desire in check. There may be only one way to extricate Beryl from the beast entangling her mind. Call upon his demon blood…and offer it as a sacrifice.
Product WarningsContains a half-human, half-demon doctor who can heal anyone except himself, and a woman who’d blush if she could remember the sensuous torture she’s been inflicting on him. Could make you wonder if you should start listening to the voices in your head…
Excerpt:Eban Heckmaster dreamed of becoming tangled in a river of gold. Soft and silky upon entering, it turned deadly within moments. He couldn’t breathe as it filled his nose. It bound his wrists, his ankles, blocked his vision. So much and so warm, sweat broke out across his body.
He’d die cradled in a gilded nest.
And he was fine with that.
Anything was better than living with the knowledge that his brother had taken the woman Eban loved as his bride hours ago.
Eban’s lungs ached for breath and his eyes shot open. Startled by weight settling on his abdomen, he tried to sit up, but two small hands held him down. Thanks to his demon blood, it only took a moment to adjust to the dark. In the nonexistent light, he peered up at Beryl Brookshier’s angelic face. She gave him a wicked smile as long strands of wheat-blonde hair tickled his bare chest. He sucked in a breath when he realized she was naked and a sheet was the only thing separating her from his raging erection.
“What are you doing?”
The second the words were out of his mouth, Eban knew he wasn’t talking to Beryl.
“Ravish me, Ebaneezer.”
The demon used Beryl’s voice and body, but the thing talking to him was far from human. The notion of taking its head off and sparing himself a lot of trouble was tempting. If not for the real Beryl’s trusting green eyes and bashful smile.
“That stopped being funny the first time you got naked in front of me.”
She caressed his cheek. “You were dreaming. I was trying to make your dreams more pleasant.”
He slapped her hands away. “You thought you’d tempt me into bedding you and then letting some other parasite into my brain. That’s not going to happen, Rosemar.”
“You want this body. Why deny it, Heckmaster?” The lust demon glowered at him, her irritation creasing the smooth face she borrowed.
“Get off me.” He pushed her away, then grabbed the sheet as she slid off his chest. “What I want is for you to vacate it, leaving Beryl’s mind intact so I can get out of Berner.”
Her pique faded, replaced by a sultry smile. “We’ve lain awake at night imagining the coupling. This body twined around yours, the friction of skin on skin. Hard muscles meeting soft curves. Lips touching…lips.” Her green eyes brightened mischievously. “Miss Brookshier has quite an imagination.”
He tensed, flushing at her descriptions, but revulsion held his desire at bay. “She’s there with you, right now?”
Rosemar waved a hand. “She’s locked away, but she’s not as innocent as you seem to think. This body is familiar with masculine touch.”
Eban suppressed a groan. “It’s none of my business. Nothing I’m interested in exploring.”
“Your body suggests otherwise. A simple sexual escapade isn’t a lifetime commitment.” She twisted a strand of hair around her finger, pouting while she batted her eyelashes.
“It is where demons are concerned. You can’t stay in there forever, you know.” He sat against the headboard, trying to ignore the way she pressed her breasts forward.
“Can’t I?” The wicked grin returned. “You can’t get rid of me without killing her. You know that.”
“We’ll see.”
Anger sparked in Rosemar’s eyes, sharper and meaner than human emotion. “I don’t know why you care. She doesn’t mean anything to you.”
Pain stabbed Eban’s chest. He turned his face away, trying not to think about Rhia’s hazel eyes, her soft Virginia accent, or the way she laughed when he said something funny. Beryl was an attractive woman now that she was beginning to gain weight after her long illness, but she wasn’t the one he loved.
“You’re wasting time thinking about her.” Rosemar sounded bored.
“I’m not going to let you kill an innocent woman by wearing her body down to nothing.” He glowered, but nothing seemed to frighten Rosemar. Even Wystan, who’d beheaded his share of parasite demons, had no effect on this one.
“I was talking about Rhia.” She put a warm hand on Eban’s shoulder. “Seere orchestrated their meeting so the three of you could defeat Noem. Without Rhia and Wystan, there is no Berner. There’s no Heckmasters. No future.”
Eban shrugged her hand off. He closed his eyes, sifting through memories of the battle with Noem and his legion of lesser demons. Years ago, Eban had tried to make a normal life for himself in another city while getting his doctor’s degree, but his younger brother Tell had called him back to treat a vicious wound Wystan had obtained at Noem’s hand. Tell and a weather deity had run Noem out of town that time. Eban had stayed, putting his dreams away. They’d been guarding a sealed portal to Hell for as long as he could remember, but Astaroth, the reigning prince, constantly sent his minions through gaps in the seals, offering them great rewards for bringing the Heckmasters back. Their father’s redemption had doomed the three of them to remain in this cursed town forever, fighting monsters until they died.
Then when it seemed like Rhia Duke would give Eban the chance to escape, she went and fell in love with his boneheaded brother. Worse than that, she’d unwittingly allowed Noem to drive her right into Berner, where he planned to capture her and give her to Astaroth. In the fight, Wystan had been gored by a minotaur, but he’d used his demon blood to overcome death and save the day—with Seere’s help, because the normally neutral Gray Side couldn’t keep their noses out of Heckmaster business.
Rosemar claimed she was inhabiting Beryl’s body at Seere’s command, and she’d proven herself useful in a fight, but none of the Heckmasters trusted her. It was clear that no matter what her orders, she had her own motives for choosing Beryl as a host.
Angry when he should be grateful—he didn’t really want Wys dead—Eban balled the sheet in his fists. “I doubt Wystan and Rhia would be too happy to know Seere thinks he’s God now.”
Rosemar chuckled. “We all aspire to godliness, don’t we? You by playing doctor, me by manipulating feelings. That’s what makes us so perfect for each other.”
She ran her finger over her lips and rose, swaying her hips in an exaggerated manner as she left. Eban swallowed hard.
He’d always known demons would be the death of him, but he’d never imagined it would be at the hands of one who looked like Beryl.

About the author:A love of reading inspired Allison Merritt to pursue her dream of becoming an author who writes historical, paranormal and fantasy romances, often combining the sub-genres. She lives in a small town in the Ozark Mountains with her husband and dogs. When she's not writing or reading, she hikes in national parks and conservation areas.
Allison graduated from College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Missouri with a B.A. in mass communications that's gathering dust after it was determined that she's better at writing fluff than hard news.

Excerpt for Blood Oath by Sabrina Rawson:The landing didn’t prove to be too difficult and they had a two hour layover before getting on their flight to Mexico. Madeline grabbed something to eat then checked with the gate representative to make sure their luggage would make it to the correct flight on time. With everything settled they both proceeded to sip their coffee and wait for their boarding call. Several people began to congregate in their boarding area, but both she and Shelly were content with reading from their Kindles to take much notice. There was still a half hour left before they were to board.Shelly nudged her arm making her lose her place with reading, “What?” she hissed, not wanting to stop what she was reading.“Check out the men at one o’clock,” Shelly whispered. She carefully lifted her eyes and gasped audibly. In front of her were seven men. Each man was above six feet in height and extremely muscular. They were dressed in jeans, polo shirts, and casual walking shoes. She was impressed with how they looked. They appeared as if they were body builders all settled on a little vacation time like they were.Looks like their vacation finally perked up.Several of the men were sporting full sleeve tattoos and despite misconceptions about men with tattoos she had always found herself partial to both men who had them and those who did not.“Guy in the dark blue shirt to the left is hot. Like fucking hot,” Shelly hissed, louder than she felt comfortable with.“Keep it down or else someone will notice our drooling,” she hissed back, more irritated her friend had interrupted her gawking.“I call dib’s on the man in dark blue. You touch and you break our girl code,” she said matter of fact.“What are you twelve,” she shouted, sitting up in her seat glaring at her girlfriend. “What girl code and what the hell. It isn’t like anything has even happened yet!”She knew she was stressed about the vacation despite their mutual pep talk earlier. She more than anything, wanted to have the romance relationship of a lifetime, but more than that just wanted to by loved and to love in return. That wasn’t too much to ask for.Shelly just stared at her folding her arms across her chest.“What?” she asked, feeling the headache from earlier reminding her it had not disappeared.Gesturing with her hand Shelly waved in the direction of the men. Seven pair of eyes stared back at them for a few seconds before turning back to their private conversations.Shelly poked her in the arm settling back to read her Kindle. Pretend to read it, she guessed.“You screeched at me like a banshee,” she gritted out.She picked up her tablet, heat filling her cheeks in embarrassment, “I did no such thing. You interrupted me from what I was doing and it was pretty serious,” she hissed in return. “I didn’t realize I spoke so loud.”Placing her hand on Shelly’s arm in a gesture of peace she noticed Shelly frowned while looking down at the hand on her arm. She needed to make amends for her actions, “I’m sorry I poked you. That was completely immature of me.”Rubbing her head with her free hand she gave up reading and closed her Kindle. “I think this headache has me acting out of character. I’m sorry for getting upset with you.”“Hey, we’re going to have fun, men or no men. Just two women on an adventure, right?” Shelly said, leaning over to dig through her bag.“Right,” she replied, frustrated she had acted so poorly when what Shelly had said was exactly what she had said to her earlier. She chanced a glance back to the where the men stood and her heart stopped. The most beautiful man stared back at her. A half a foot or taller than her six foot height, his frame was completely muscular. It appeared he was pushed the limit on the polo shirt he was wearing or his muscles in his arms were going to split the seams if he moved too quickly. His stony expression hadn’t concealed his initial reaction when she first glanced up, nor did it distract her from his beauty. His hair was sandy blonde almost a warm caramel color. She wanted to walk up to him just so she could get closer and find out if she had imagined the color or not. She could tell from where she was his eyes were bright green. He wasn’t standing more than thirty feet away, but she could tell he was very aware of his surroundings. He seemed like he was taking her in as much as she was of him except he was cataloguing everything around them simultaneously. His visual appraisal made her lick her lips in anticipation. What would he say if he knew how bad she wanted him to keep on looking at only her?Shaking her head she dispelled their staring contest, burying her wicked thoughts. Oh, she looked at the rest of his face while they had studied each other, but it was his eyes that had held her attention. They were the same color she had imagined all her book boyfriends’ eyes looked like. She called them dream eyes. He was her dream man in the flesh. She chuckled at her inner thoughts and began to pack up the stuff she had settled around her in preparation for the flight. What had come over her? One minute she was snapping at her best friend and the next she was mesmerized by one of the very men she had snapped at Shelly about. Maybe it was his crooked nose that had caught her attention? The scar that ran from the side of his nose across his cheek down his throat hadn’t distracted her focus neither did his full lips. Lips she wanted to taste and feel all over her body. A body her hands itched to explore. She hadn’t seen any tattoos on his arms, but did that mean his weren’t hidden.Flustered at where her thoughts had carried her she fidgeted with the zipper of her carryon too frustrated to pull it smoothly across its seam.“If you pull that thing any harder the first thing we will purchase when we get there will be a new bag for you. What’s with you?” Shelly quipped, reaching over to take the bag from her before she broke the zipper. “You usually treat your luggage with delicate fingers.”Wiping her forehead with her hand she felt like she was about to break a sweat. She knew her hot flash was because she couldn’t get rid of the images of what she wanted to happen with the man a few feet away. Naked things. Sexual things. Things she had never felt from her body before. For the first time in her life she felt desired with such intensity the feeling shocked her.“I’m fine. A little shaken, but fine,” she admitted.Shelly stopped what she was doing and looked at her. She tilted her head and scrutinized her with an expression she recognized as the analytical Shelly. She knew she was about to get a lecture about living in the moment, but thank God first class seats were called to board. They rose grabbing their bags and heading embarrassingly past the men to hand the flight attendant their boarding passes. Before they walked into the Jetway, one of the men said, “The red is one classy babe, but the brunette is hot. I don’t know which one is better. They both look hot to me.”She and Shelly gasped, but neither one of them had enough nerve to turn around. Leaving the waiting area, the last thing she heard before hurrying to their seats was an unmistakable growl followed by the possessive words that sent chills straight to her core.“The brunette is mine.” photo Sabrina-Rawson.jpg

Julie and Robert's relationship begins from Dancing in Circles on Weekend Writing Warriors #8sunday

Welcome to another weekend of Weekend Writing Warriors. My 8 sentence snippet this week is from my first release from my NA contemporary romance – Dancing in Circles - Book 1 of Circles Trilogy.
Scene Set – Last week, Robert walked away from a fight but set a meeting in the park after school. Julie followed him inside. She'd realized that he'd been trying to figure out how to get out of the fight. Robert speaks first."Ya expected me to fight, 'cause I'm Shore?"Julie nodded and said, "You people are always fighting and causing trouble. You're supposed to be tough, macho studs."He grinned and said, "The stud part's right." A shiver scurried up Julie's spine. "You know, there are two sides of you.""As far as I know, I'm an original."To keep from giggling, Julie took a deep breath and asked, "After calculus, can we go somewhere and have lunch and talk."

What people are saying about Dancing in Circles5 stars  - Julie I liked, but Robert, loved that guy. He's thrown some insurmountable circumstances to overcome, but he manages a way around it all quite nicely. While he may be the 'bad boy', he still has a heart of gold. The author did a nice job expressing that while we may not all travel the same paths in life, we still are essentially the same people and deserve happiness alike.
