Spotlight on Razor by Jon Keys

Victoria, thanks for having me as a guest on your blog. Razor’s what I’m here to talk about and was released by Decadent Publishing on Feb 6th. It’s my first urban fantasy and I’m excited. It’s part of Decadent Publishing’s Beyond Fairytales collection. Razor is a retelling of The Little Folk from Brother’s Grimm. Yeah, I’d never heard of it either. LOL. I hope everyone enjoys Razor as much as I did.~ Jon ~

blurb When the world crashes down around your ears, sometimes all you can do is punt and hope for the best. That’s exactly what James and Micah decide to do when one of them is diagnosed with cancer, and the other discovers a serious heart defect. When the doctor tells them to start working on their bucket lists, the two take a trip in an effort to create some good memories, and forget the ugly truths, while they focus on their time in each other’s arms.Their vacation turns into much more than they anticipated when they find themselves drawn to a club like sailors to a siren. Several sexy waiters, some unforgettable lap dances, and one whip-wielding stud later, they stumble upon the answer to their prayers. Their sex is wild again, and the pair find themselves living for tomorrow. But with every answer comes questions, and Micah’s search for more may destroy them both. Will they be able to recover from his thirst for the truth? Or will the men always live walking on the edge of a Razor?

Micah made the landing and stood watching James ascend. A few seconds later, he reached the top and looked around. They found themselves outside a door almost as dark as the night, set into a wall of Cimmerian brick that disappeared into the gloom on either side. The doorman standing beside it was equally striking. He stood taller than James’s six feet, and wore only a black leather kilt and heavy boots that seemed to consume the lower part of his muscular legs. No one would dare challenge the man. His torso rippled in ways James had never seen before. His face was rugged, covered with a few days’ scruff trimmed precisely along his jawline. Before he could think of what they should do, the doorman spoke.“Welcome to Razor. What’s your pleasure tonight?”James stood speechless as the deep bass of the man’s voice resonated through the night. “The music. The music is wonderful. We caught it from a few blocks off and wanted to hear more.”A smile emerged on the man’s face and changed him from executioner to guardian. “Of course, the music. You’ve found the right place. Just in time, too. Tonight is drawing to a close.”He grasped the bronze door pull that was easily as long and thick as James’s forearm and opened the massive door with little apparent effort. He motioned them into the portal with a wave. “Go. Enjoy yourself.”The pair moved toward the opening and peered inside. The room was dim, except for an empty stage bathed in warm light. James noticed the musical trio creating the instrumentals that had lured them through the foggy night. They glanced back to the grinning bouncer who encouraged them forward with a nod. They stepped into the room and paused to take it in. From the elaborately carved dark mahogany bar lined with every imaginable type of liqueur, to the lovingly worn floor that had seen thousands of pairs of feet during its existence, it was all club. The couple moved inside as the door closed behind them with scarcely a whisper. As they studied the room, two things struck James. First, they were the only customers. Second, everyone else in the room wore very little and were male. Their smiling waiter stepped to their table. James swallowed hard as he looked at the man standing before him. He dressed in the same boots as the bouncer, which were buckled to just below his knees. The remainder of the waiter’s clothing consisted of a black leather jockstrap filled to capacity.
Bio:Jon Keys’ earliest memories revolve around books; with the first ones he can recall reading himself being “The Warlord of Mars” and anything with Tarzan. (The local library wasn’t particularly up to date.) But as puberty set in he started sneaking his mother’s romance magazines and added the world of romance and erotica to his mix of science fiction, fantasy, and comic books.A voracious reader for almost half a century, Jon has only recently begun creating his own flights of fiction for the entertainment of others. Born in the Southwest and now living in the Midwest, Jon has worked as a ranch hand, teacher, computer tech, roughneck, designer, retail clerk, welder, artist, and, yes, pool boy; with interests ranging from kayaking and hunting to painting and cooking, he draws from a wide range of life experiences to create written works that draw the reader in and wrap them in a good story.Blog~ Facebook~ Twitter

Robert and Julie discuss the fight on Weekend Writing Warriors

Welcome to another weekend of Weekend Writing Warriors. My 8 sentence snippet this week is from my first release from my NA contemporary romance – Dancing in Circles- Book 1 of Circles Trilogy.
Scene Set -Last week a classmate of Robert's challenged him to a fight. This is a continuation of that scene - and yes it was edited to get it to 8 :-)

"What's his problem?""Tricia."Robert rubbed his forehead. "You don't have to fight him, you know," said Julie as she brushed a strand of hair from her face."Sooner or later I gotta. If I don't settle this now, it'll just get worse. Although, I'd rather get some sleep," he said with a resigned sigh then followed the crowd out of the building.

Blurb – One born into privilege and a charmed life surrounded by love and family. The other born to a life of violence on the streets as the solemn gang leader of the notorious Shoresmen. A young, idealistic co-ed, Julie, meets a jaded, cold gang member, Robert, and cracks his icy shell, allowing the warmth of her love to awaken his soul.

What people are saying about Dancing in Circles5 stars  - Julie I liked, but Robert, loved that guy. He's thrown some insurmountable circumstances to overcome, but he manages a way around it all quite nicely. While he may be the 'bad boy', he still has a heart of gold. The author did a nice job expressing that while we may not all travel the same paths in life, we still are essentially the same people and deserve happiness alike.
5 Stars - I loved the cover, as well as the story. I liked the school setting, and the description in the beginning of Julie and her friends. Julie is the dreamer, searching for a happy ending. I also liked Robert, who is a "bad boy" gang leader. "from the wrong side of the tracks," etc. One of Julie's relatives says he has a heart of gold, and he does. He's smart and practical and I think he's great.
5 Stars - Author Victoria Adams does an excellent job at bringing characters to life. I really enjoyed living through Julie's dream of becoming a dancer and her connection with Robert. Yeah, Robert may have gotten himself in the wrong crowd, but he really does portray a compassionate person and in the end he really does grow on you. Can't wait to see the next one in the series!

A bit of Passion from Circles Interlocked on Book Boyfriend Cafe

'); From book 3 in Circles Trilogy o Robert returns to what he think is his empty bedroom. He spent the evening with friends watching their son's Little League Game.

Without bothering to turn on the bedroom light Robert peeled off his mustard-covered shirt. Terry had dropped his hot dog when Adam caught the line drive. He peeled off his soda pop soaked pants. Randy hit Terry's arm and knocked his drink down Robert's front. His socks were wet from the pop running down his leg. Sighing he pulled off his underwear, wet also from one very large, very cold drink."Why don't you come to bed dressed like that?"A smile broke across Robert's face as he turned. Julie's silhouette was illuminated from the light in the bathroom. They crossed the room from opposite sides and climbed on the bed. He slid his hand up her bare back and kissed the end of her nose. "The dance studio," he said."Yes, what about it?""No, that's its name, The Dance Studio. That's what you've been calling it.""The Dance Studio." Julie smiled. "I like it. Now shut up and make love to me.""Yes ma'am."In the faint moonlight, Julie could see Robert's dark eyes had turned from exhaustion to lust.He wanted to finish what'd been interrupted in the barn. He lowered his face to her lips, savouring the sensations that electrified his body. His kiss was soft as it grazed her skin, just enough pressure to tease - to make her desire more. She trickled the tips of her fingers up his back. Her hand paused. Memories flooded her mind; laughing in class, kissing, eating supper together and being wrapped in each other's arms. How could she have driven him away? She had loved him. He'd loved her. She should've guessed what he'd done and not so many years hating him. She should've trusted him. Trusted those eyes, hands and lips. "I'm so sorry."He slid his body up hers. She could feel his hardness pressing against her belly. "You wanna talk?""I...I...feel...""You feel soft and feminine and decidedly sensuous. You feel and smell like the woman I love. She loves and forgives me for all of my faults and misdeeds and I had forgiven her long ago." He rolled over to his back and settled Julie on his stomach. "You sound like a woman whose head's lost in a whirlwind. Unable to focus on what's important."His hands roamed across her, leaving a trail of tingling sparkles in her flesh. "Forget about the past. Don't think about the future. I'm here and I want your attention. I want to make love to you." Julie felt her insides grow hot, her skin flushed and her toes curled in excitement. His voice deepened. "What I really want to do is to shatter your evening. To feel your heat and passion as your control gives way to an animal lust."Lost in his words and his touch, Julie's head swirled with the sensations swarming through her body. Her chest heaved with desire. Her heart pounded in anticipation. She was unable to respond verbally to Robert. She could only react by instinct. Willingly she released herself to his hands, lips and body and let herself be consumed by their animalistic passion.

Having been betrayed by the man she assumed she was destined to be with forever; Julie Anderson slapped Robert Holiday in an angry ending to their brief love affair. Heartbroken that her love affair didn't end with the fairy tale Happily Ever After, Julie leaves town to pursue her dream of being a dancer. As fate has a curious sense of humor, eight years later, they wake up in bed together. Now it is up to love to fix what time cannot mend.

Victoria Adams, Pets and Chit Chat 6

Licorice
This week's post is on pets. This is Licorice. She's a feral stray. When this picture was taken she was about 3 months old. We live in the country. People still drop off the "unwanted" pets.

If you ever plan on doing that - take the animal to a humane shelter - not out in the country. I know - I can hear you say - but they'll be killed at the humane shelter. Well what do you think happens out in the country? A city raised cat doesn't know about coyotes. A kitten doesn't know about hawks. Food doesn't suddenly arrive on the plate twice a day. It's cruel.

Licorice's mom was the abandoned animal. She disappeared leaving 1 kitten. I'm guessing she was killed. Call me Kitten Whisperer. I got the poor little thing to trust me and now she has a warm, loving home. She's lucky. Most strays aren't so lucky.

Here are some other lucky pets we've recused.
Cosmo
McCavity
Sweets Misty

Have you ever rescued a stray?

Scene Set –For weeks I've dragged you along wondering who Kendall wants to show Chelsea - the description - better than a dancer's butt.

"Three beers," shouted Bridgette. When Chelsea tried to look at the waiter, a spotlight light temporarily blinded her as it bounced around the club. Instead of seeing his face, she gazed at the black leather pants hugging slender hips and muscled thighs."You want beer then I need ID."Chelsea, Bridgette and Kendall placed their cards on his outstretched hand. The waiter handed Bridgette her card and said, "Diet Coke for you." He then held out Chelsea's card. "April seventeenth, I'll have to remember that."
