Give me one little itty-bitty clue.""Sandy, Bridgette and I went to Brannigans last night and saw...Well, let me just say, you're gonna die."Chelsea raised an eyebrow. "A guy?"

Spotlight on David Burnett's To Fall in Love Again

To Fall In Love Again by David Burnett

Drew Nelson did not plan to talk with anyone that morning. He did not plan to make a new friend. He certainly did not plan to fall in love.He resisted all of Amy’s attempts to draw him out− at the hotel, at the airport, on the airplane− giving hurried responses and burying his face in a pile of papers. It was only when the flight attendant offered coffee, and a muscle in Amy’s back twitched as she reached for it, and the cup tipped, and the hot liquid puddled in Drew’s lap that they began to talk. Earlier in the year, each had lost a spouse of over thirty years. Drew’s wife had died of a brain tumor, Amy’s husband when his small airplane nose-dived to earth, the engine at full throttle − an accident, it was ruled. They live in the same city. Both have grandchildren. They are about the same age. Consciously, or not, they both are looking to love again. But relationships do not exist in vacuums. Drew is wealthy, and Amy is middle class. Amy is “new” in town – she and her husband moved to Charleston twenty-five years ago – while Drew’s family has lived there for three centuries. Drew lives below Broad, a code word for high society, old families, power, and money. Amy’s home is across the river.Class warfare may be less violent than it was in the past, but when Drew invites Amy to the St Cecelia Ball, battle lines are drawn. In a city in which ancestry is important, the ball’s membership is passed from father to son, and only those from the oldest families attend.Family, friends, co-workers all weigh in on their relationship and choose sides. Allies are found in unexpected places. Opposition comes from among those who were thought to be friends. Though they are gone, even their spouses − through things they have done and things they have said − wield influence in the conflict that follows.Amy begins to suspect that Drew is one of them, the rich snobs who despise her, while Drew concludes that Amy neither trusts him nor cares for him. As each questions the other’s motives, their feelings for each other are tested, and Drew and Amy are challenged to consider if they truly want to fall in love again.

Victoria Adams' Dancing in Circles on Weekend Writing Warriors #8sunday

Welcome to another weekend of Weekend Writing Warriors. My 8 sentence snippet this week is from my first release from my NA contemporary romance – Dancing in Circles- Book 1 of Circles Trilogy.
SORRY - I won't be around today - I had to go home - family thing.

Scene Set -Robert and biology teacher discuss Robert's missing homework. Teacher speaks first.

"This isn't high school. It's college prep. If you cannot keep up—"
"I didn't have time." Robert sat up, rested his arms on his desktop and glared at his teacher. "I arrived in this school three days ago, and got handed two weeks' worth of stuff to get caught up on. Trust me, I get this isn't high school."

Blurb – One born into privilege and a charmed life surrounded by love and family. The other born to a life of violence on the streets as the solemn gang leader of the notorious Shoresmen. A young, idealistic co-ed, Julie, meets a jaded, cold gang member, Robert, and cracks his icy shell, allowing the warmth of her love to awaken his soul.

What people are saying about Dancing in Circles5 stars  - Julie I liked, but Robert, loved that guy. He's thrown some insurmountable circumstances to overcome, but he manages a way around it all quite nicely. While he may be the 'bad boy', he still has a heart of gold. The author did a nice job expressing that while we may not all travel the same paths in life, we still are essentially the same people and deserve happiness alike.
5 Stars - I loved the cover, as well as the story. I liked the school setting, and the description in the beginning of Julie and her friends. Julie is the dreamer, searching for a happy ending. I also liked Robert, who is a "bad boy" gang leader. "from the wrong side of the tracks," etc. One of Julie's relatives says he has a heart of gold, and he does. He's smart and practical and I think he's great.
5 Stars - Author Victoria Adams does an excellent job at bringing characters to life. I really enjoyed living through Julie's dream of becoming a dancer and her connection with Robert. Yeah, Robert may have gotten himself in the wrong crowd, but he really does portray a compassionate person and in the end he really does grow on you. Can't wait to see the next one in the series!

A Guy and A Girl's first visit to Book Boyfriend Cafe

Hi. Excited to be here on Book Boyfriend Café.
The book I'm going to start with is my latest, a NA contemporary romance called A Guy and A Girl. Mackenzie is the heroine. She's a college co-ed who is majoring in Dance, but she's not sure she's where she ought to be. Hunter shows up in her class and she instantly falls in "deep interest". Mackenzie has a best friend with a dark secret that Mackenzie knows nothing about. This secret seriously threatens the budding romance between Mackenzie and Hunter.Who would play Mackenzie in a movie? Don’t know. I'd need a dance trained actress. Zoe Saldana from Centerstage (or Star Trek J ) would be perfect.

Here is a snippet from A Guy and A Girl – Mackenzie and Hunter are on their first date.
"Well, do I ever get to see you dance?" asked Hunter. The thought of Hunter wanting to watch her dance, filled Chelsea with a mixture of giddiness and adoration. "We have a performance near the end of term.""As long as I don't have a game, I'd like to come and watch."Chelsea's cheeks burned with embarrassment. "I've never had a boyfriend in the audience before. Gawd, I'm nervous just thinking about it.""I don't believe there weren't a dozen boys trying to date you."Looking at her wine glass, Chelsea held back some painful high school memories. "My teenage dating days were a step short of awful.""I remember, kissing Roger, the biggest mistake of your life."She laughed. "I was the biggest jerk magnet around.""Uh, sitting here kind of hoping you've out grown that habit." Hunter smiled. She reached across the table and wrapped her fingers around his hand. "I've definitely out grown that bad habit. Back then, I didn't have enough confidence to date nice boys. Some clean-cut, intelligent guy would start talking to me and I'd just brush him off or panic and go brain dead. But let a loser come near me and I was little Miss Chatterbox. I felt we were equals."Hunter finished his salad, placed his fork on the table and waited for Chelsea to continue."Teenage girls are vicious. They have to pull everyone down to their level. And then when they do, they crush you so they can be superior. I got pressured into doing some very stupid teenage things. Spent a lot of time throwing up in strangers' toilets from alcohol binges. I tried so hard to be cool like my friends. But then I realized they weren't my friends, just jerks.""I can't even begin to imagine what it must've been like. I was the local hero. Loved by everyone. Got away with murder. Everyone would just say, Oh, it's just Hunter being Hunter." He paused while their meal was placed before them."But you've got a secret. And I don't think it's a nice one."He fumbled with his fork and glanced at Chelsea."You've sort of told me about it. First you had that nightmare; you said it has something to do with your past. You've commented a couple of times about being responsible for something you're not responsible for."He shrugged. "I guess we all have our pasts."

Victoria Adams and a little bit of Chit Chat 1

Welcome to Chit Chat on Victoria's Pages of Romance.
Blog advice people are always harping that every blog post shouldn't be about promoting books. They say that readers want a connection. They want to get to know the author. So that is what Chit Chat is going to be about. Little snippets of my life. I might post about what new thing I cooked for supper and whether it was a success or not. I might post about the flowers in my garden or the snowing blanketing the fields. Maybe a photo or 2. But I won't post anything that says - buy my book.

So to start - I am Victoria Adams and I live in Ontario, Canada - near the St.Lawrence River and the Ontario/Quebec border - just above New York State (in case you want to check it out on a map)
Today I am sharing a couple of photos of some buffalo from South Dakota. These were taken in 2006. I suspect the first photo is Mommy and Daddy and the next is the twins. I like the humour of the first photo as it looks like he's sticking his tongue out at me.  And why I think the twins are his - check the back right corner of the 2nd photo - you can see the Dad. I didn't ask if the twins were his. I don't speak buffalo.
This herd was grazing right near the road. None of them really seemed interested or worried about my husband and I. It was such an awe-inspiring moment to look into the eyes of such magnificent creatures.

Next week I'll tell you why I was in South Dakota.

Have you ever had such a moment with a wild animal?

First Book Hooks visit for 2015 #MFRWhooks, #MFRWAuthor

IF YOU ARE HERE FOR WEDNESDAY BRIEFS - PLEASE SCROLL DOWN
Welcome to Victoria's Pages of Romance and Book Hooks. This week's 6 to 8 sentences are from my NA contemporary romance – A Guy and A Girl

Scene set – Chelsea's best friend, Kendall, invites her to go clubbing on Saturday night
"Go where?" Nudging the door open with her shoulder, Chelsea pulled the keys from the lock, entered then dropped them and her purse on the kitchen table. "Brannigans."She walked over to the refrigerator, pulled open the door, grabbed a Diet Coke and said, "I know the strippers are there this weekend. I like dancers, but...""I like dancers' butts, too." Kendall's giggle floated into Chelsea's ear. "But that's not what I want to show you. It's way better than that."

Victoria's first flash of 2015 #WedBriefs

Welcome to my first flash for 2015 on Wednesday Briefs.
This is a raw (unedited) m/f time travel romance. It's a 500 to 1,000 word excerpt inspired by: Do or die, That would be a lie X, plus the photos below. Chapters 1 through 5 are available on the free read tab at top of blog.

Sunrise 59J'dol smiled at the surprised looked on Sian's face. He confession that what he wanted was for her to loved him and obviously caught her unaware but in a pleasant way. He face morphed from surprise to delight and what pleased him to his core is that the delight remained. As she processed his statement and her thoughts and feelings, happiness remain filling her eyes and her smile. It had taken the courage of a warrior for him to say the words. The risk of her filling the room with a scornful laugh was worth taking.
Sian's hand trembled as she shut down her information box that she'd called a computer and turned to face him. She reached out and placed her soft hand against his cheek, cupping it. "I could say I need to think about it, but that would be a lie. I love you."
J'dol nestled his cheek against her palm the stood and pulled her up to him tling his cheek against her palm. "It is wrong. I should not be here. We should never have met, but I don’t care." He leaned closer. "As my Captain would say, Do or die." He placed his lips on hers. His kiss was soft as it grazed her skin, just enough pressure to tease - to make her desire more.
Her bottom lip quivered. He pressed his mouth harder against hers. With a sigh, Sian melted into him. Her breasts molded onto his chest. A surge of lust bolted through his body. This was right. She was the woman. Sian was the reason he'd been shot back in time.
She trickled the tips of her fingers up his back. Her hand paused. Memories flooded J'dol's mind; his injuries and her compassionate nursing, the ache in his soul when he thought she didn't want to be around him, they joy that filled him every time she laughed, the intense need to protect her. He'd loved her. She loved him. With a gasp she released their kiss. "I...I...feel—""You feel soft and feminine and decidedly sensuous. You feel and smell like the woman I love." Without speaking, he lifted into his arms, carried her to her bedroom and placed her on the bed. He kicked off his shoes and settled next to her. His hands roamed across her. His fingertips tingling from the touch of her flesh. "I want to make love to you." She opened her mouth to speak, but he interrupted her with a kiss. When he released the kiss, he spoke, his voice deepening with lust. "What I really want to do is to shatter your evening. To feel your heat and passion as your control gives way to an animal lust."Lost in his words and his touch, J'dol's head swirled with the sensations swarming through his body. His chest heaved with desire. His heart pounded in anticipation. He reacted by instinct. To his delight, Sian released herself to his hands, lips and body and allowed herself to be consumed by their animalistic passion.

Dancing in Circles on Weekend Writing Warriors #8sunday

Welcome to another weekend of Weekend Writing Warriors. My 8 sentence snippet this week is from my first release from my NA contemporary romance – Dancing in Circles- Book 1 of Circles Trilogy.
Scene Set -We meet Robert. But not at one of his better moments.

"Put your assignments on my desk." Mr. Parks, the biology teacher, pointed towards an inbox as he clicked off the student's names as they entered. Attendance completed, class seated, he looked up from his computer. "Did anyone not hand one in?" Robert put up his hand. "And why not?" "'Cause I didn't get it done." He slouched low in his desk at the back of the room, isolated from the rest of the students with his long legs stretched out into the aisle.
