A Guy and A Girl on This Week's Weekend Writing Warriors #8sunday

Welcome to another weekend of Weekend Writing Warriors. My 8 sentence snippet this week is from my latest release NA contemporary romance – A Guy and A Girl. Scene Set – Chelsea arrives home and discovers her ex-boyfriend sitting on her stairs. (it's her turn to have a problem that she doens't know about yet.) She speaks first. (yes, there's some editing :-) to get to 8 sentences.)

"What're you doing here?"Todd squinted from the glare of the headlights and replied, "Let me explain.""Get lost.""But I can't exist without you."She crossed her arms, protectively over her chest and said, "I don't care.""Don't say that." Todd's nostrils flared and his brow darkened with anger. He grabbed her wrist.

What people are saying about – A Guy and A Girl
5 Stars - I loved this book...I think that it was an awesome story. It was interesting on how everything came about as well as some surprises on who was doing what. I liked how the couple had issues that would be real life issues as well. Very well written, can't wait to read more books by Victoria as well as maybe some more in relation to characters in the book.

5 Stars - What a great romance. Fast paced. Chock full of tension. Little bit of hockey Little bit of dance. Lots of love.

5 Stars - I'm not really sure where to start with this book. The story took so many twists and turns. The suspense in the first part of the book was good, and the twist, I didn't see coming. I expected the story to end when the conflict resolved itself, but I enjoyed that the author chose to continue the development of the relationship between Hunter and Chelsea. I think a lot of stories are written so that the happily ever after comes right after the conflict, but in this story, the reader is drawn through more than one conflict, it shows the growth of each character and a progression of a relationship that is more like real life. Think about it, in our real life relationships, most of us don't go through one crazy experience and then BAM...everything works out. I think that's what made the story so real to me. All the challenges faced by Hunter and Chelsea helped to build and strengthen the relationship. The time frame may have been a little short for the amount of things going on, but that didn't affect my opinion of the story. I was still able to become invested in the story and enjoy it.

Gonzo the Curious Cat Interview with Victoria Adams

Hi Victoria! Thank you so much for having me and allowing me to share my latest.

I’m excited to share the NEW illustrations! My illustrator, Mary Jo Prado did a fantastic job bringing the characters to life.
I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did writing it.
It’s now available HERE
I also just released a COLORS, SHAPES, & NUMBERS book for the little ones. You can find that one HERE

Victoria Adams is flashing her Wednesday Briefs #Wedbriefs

Welcome to this week's Wednesday Briefs.

This is a raw (unedited) m/f time travel romance. It's a 500 to 1,000 word excerpt inspired by: come hell or high water, plus the photo below. Chapters 1 through 5 are available on the free read tab at top of blog.

Sunrise 56
With her heart pounding in her chest, Sian raced to grab J'dol from the lake. She dug the fingers of one hand into his arm and with the other hand, she gripped his shirt. Could she do it? Could she lift him? He was strongly built with broad shoulders and well-muscled arms. Much too heavy for her. She had to. She had no other choice. Sian gritted her teeth. Come hell or high water, she'd get him out of the water. With a deep inhale she heaved. His upper body slid up over the edge and onto the dock. She released the hand holding onto his arm and grabbed his waistband then with every last bit of her strength she pulled the rest of him onto the dock. The sound of pounding feet made her glance up. Craig Nelson, one of summer lake residents was racing towards her. He stopped next to her and J'dol. After inhaling a few breaths, he gasped out, "Is he…okay? I saw what happened. A bolt of lightning…from nowhere. Is he breathing?"The thought hadn't occurred to Sian that J'dol could be that hurt. Concern morphed to fear and then to panic. She dropped to her knees and placed her ear on his chest. Was he breathing or was she imagining it? Too scared to face the notion that he might not be. She held her own breath and listened.Thump. Thump.Thump. Thump."He's alive. He's breathing. He's…" A sob stopped her. She dropped back onto her heels. "He's alive."Craig's wife, Kathleen, knelt next to her. "Are you okay? I saw you haul him out of the water. I didn't think you could do it?"Sian smiled at the unexpected appearance of her neighbour. So focused on J'dol, she hadn't noticed Kathleen's arrival. "I'm…" She held out her hand. It visibly trembled."Oh, Sian." Kathleen hugged her shoulders. "Let's get you…and…him inside.""J'dol. He's a friend."Craig stood on the edge of the dock. "What's that?"Sian followed the line from his pointed finger. In the murky, but shallow, water, she could see something but couldn't identify it. She glanced at the front edge of the dock. J'dol's sword was nowhere to be seen. She hopped into the knee-deep water and stretched her hand to the lake bottom. Entering the water had stirred up the silt; she fumbled about trying to find the sword's hilt and not the blade. Having cut her hand once, she was aware how razor sharp it was. Her hand knocked something. She cautiously wrapped her fingers around it, but dropped it as she recognized the feel of a stone. Her foot bumped something solid. She reached down and touched it with her fingertips. It was the long flat side of the blade. She walked her fingers to the right trying to discover if she was heading toward the hilt or the point.  When the blade width lessened, Sian shifted directions. The breath of the crossbar made her smile, although for a moment she pondered how the sword came to be under the edge of the dock. A terrifying vision flashed through her mind. What if J'dol had fallen on the sword? She shuddered and cast aside the thought. He hadn't. He was fine. Focusing, she gripped the sword and hauled it out of the water then placed it on the dock next to J'dol. It was covered in muck with a few strands of lake grass trailing off it."Good graciousness!" gasped Kathleen. "A sword? Why in the world would he have that?" She reached out to touch it."Careful." Sian climbed onto the deck. "It's sharp. I bumped it and cut my hand earlier this week."J'dol coughed and opened his eyes. "Wha..what happened?""I'll explain later." San stood. "Let me help you up. We have to get you inside."J'dol pushed himself up to standing then brushed back some wet strands of hair off his face.Craig pointed to the dock. "Don't forget your sword."J'dol looked down and frowned. "That is not mine."

New York Times & USA Today bestselling and award-winning author Melissa Foster and Flirting With Love

FLIRTING WITH LOVE BY MELISSA FOSTER

IN FLIRTING WITH LOVE...
Elisabeth Nash has spent years dreaming of returning to the small town of Trusty, Colorado, where she spent summers with her favorite aunt. When she inherits her aunt's farmette, she closes her Los Angeles pet bakery and pampering business, sure that life in Trusty will be as peaceful and as welcoming as she remembers. But being an outsider in the close-knit town proves to be very different from the happy summers she remembers from her childhood--and falling for Trusty's hot, wealthy, and sinfully irresistible veterinarian, Ross Braden, sends the rumor mill into a frenzy.
.
Ross Braden learned long ago that gossip spreads faster than weeds in his small hometown, and Ross loves nothing more than his privacy. For that reason, he doesn't date women who live in Trusty. But that was before blond, beautiful, and refreshingly honest Elisabeth Nash flew into his vet clinic seeking help for her panicked piglet and turned his comfortable life--and his heart--inside out.
.
Despite rumors about Elisabeth's motives toward her aunt's property, passion brews between Elisabeth and Ross. Every steamy kiss and every sensual touch brings the pair closer together, and when Ross helps Elisabeth try to fit into the town he adores, it makes their bond even stronger. But even Elisabeth's efforts toward reaching the community, and the love she and Ross so desperately believe in, might not be enough for the protective small town to offer them a future.. Penny Estelle is giving away a copy of Revenge, The Cowboy Way

Good morning, Victoria.  I want to thank you for letting me stop by today.  The stories I have written cover age groups from the very young to the older, “young at heart”! After writing fantasy and time travel stories for the middle grade kiddos, I thought I would take a shot at romance.  I love writing these stories.  I have contemporary, paranormal, holiday, and historical westerns.  Today, I would like to give a sneak peek of Revenge, The Cowboy Way.

BlurbWhen Brian Thornton is taken by surprise at gunpoint, while in the bed of a beautiful, wealthy woman, he swears his revenge.  But when he learns his humiliation was at the hands of a young woman and a boy, his vengeance knows no bounds.
Joanna Simmons is snatched out of her home and taken to Thornton's ship.  Against her will, she travels to Texas, and then by wagon train to Bastrop, Brian's home town.  Joanna finds acceptance and genuine friendship with the people of the town, down to Brian's sister, but the emotional war that wages between Brian and Joanna, keeps any kind of happiness at bay.
Revenge, the Cowboy Way, is the story of hate, love and revenge.  The question is whose revenge is it?

ExcerptBrian took a long drag off of his cigarette before flicking it in the fire. “You have quite a decision to make, Jo.” He got up and spread out his bedroll, then took hers and put it on top of his as a cover. “Before you start taking pot shots at me, you might think about what you’ll do out here by yourself.” He undid his holster and laid it down, then slowly shucked his pants and climbed between the two bedrolls. He stretched, putting his hands behind him to cradle his head, and shut his eyes.
“You said there were no Indians this far south.” She was fuming at his relaxed demeanor. He wasn’t showing any kind of fear at all.
He didn’t move. “Do you think Indians are the only danger out here? There are all kinds of men out here who would sell their souls to come across a woman like you, all alone and unprotected.”
She could feel her hopes floating away, like the smoke from the fire disappearing up into the night sky. She threw the derringer at him. “I really hate you.” Joanna sniffed. She took off her shoes and then the pants Andy had given her and climbed into their bedroll, turning her back to him.
He took the gun and lobbed it over next to his. “I want you to keep the derringer. Keep it on you at all times.” He gathered her tightly against his chest, and, to her surprise, that was all he did.

Victoria is flashing her Wednesday Briefs #WedBriefs

If you are here for BOOK HOOKS - Please scroll down.

Welcome to this week's Wednesday Briefs.
This is a raw (unedited) m/f time travel romance. It's a 500 to 1,000 word excerpt inspired by: as unbelievable as this is…, make a Peter Pan reference, you can’t always get what you want, plus the photo below. Chapters 1 through 5 are available on the free read tab at top of blog.
Sunrise 55 J'dol snorted. "I do not sit on a throne. I am a warrior."

The stranger raised his hand in a humble position. "As unbelievable as this is…and may sound to you, it is true.”J'dol shook his head. "No. I refuse to believe. You are lying. You are trying to trick me.""Are you not J'dol of Orondonto? The great warrior? A warrior whose skills and courage are legendary? You are called The Great White Bear."Sian whispered. "Maybe things have changed since you left."Frowning, J'dol glanced at her.She placed an arm on his shoulder. "Hear me out. Granted this guy could be from Never Never Land and how the hell he got on my dock I have no idea. But if what Kiry and the Professor think is true that you leaving your time and coming here has changed everything."Why did she have to be so beautiful? Her words caused confusion deep in J'dol. He did not trust the man. He knew was not a Royal. He was a warrior. Why had this person said he was a Royal? J'dol suspected a trap, but could not see it. He would be very wary.A gust of wind rustled J'dol's hair. A gasp from Sian snapped his attention to her. She'd placed her hand over her mouth and confusion was etched on her face. "He's not real."An ache in his shoulders began to burn. J'dol lowered the sword a few degrees. "What do you mean? How can he be there, standing before us and not be real? Ghosts do not wander in the daylight.""I think he's a hologram." She softly chuckled. "And I have no idea how to explain that to you. Edge forward and touch him with the tip of your sword.""No. It would hurt him.""Are you coming back with me?" The man raised his voice. "Your sister and her children want to see you. They miss you."Anger surged through J'dol. How dare he use them as bait? "I don't believe you. Prove it. What are their names?""Odine is your sister. Her husband is dead. Tu-a and Ra-no are her children."J'dol stumbled back a step. Could it be true? He had seen the charred bodies near their home, but he never had the chance to step closer and confirm that the bodies were Odine, Tu-a and Ra-no's. What if they were alive?"J'dol?"He focused on Sian. She continued, "Watch him when the wind blows. He moves? Like a curtain.""I have waited long enough!" The stranger's brow creased. "You must come back with me. Now."J'dol flexed his muscles and lifted the sword back to full height. "I do not want to. I want to stay here.""You can't always get what you want.""Touch him." Sian urged. "With the tip of your sword. You'll see, he won't be hurt. He's not human."J'dol inched forward. The dock boards creaked as he crossed them. The water splashed up against the pilings. He stopped and lowered his sword to waist level then slowly pushed it forward. Would he pierce the flesh on the man? He did not want to harm him. He had no reason too. But Sian was insistent and he trusted her.The strange did not move or appear to be alarmed. His face had a strange contented smile.J'dol frowned. His sword should have reached the stranger's body by now. He should feel the pressure of the knife slicing through flesh. Blood should be flowing from the wound. The man should look like he was in pain, not smiling. Why was he smiling?A brilliant flash of light made J'dol squint. His flesh tingled like a thousand ants scurried across him. "J'dol!"Strange. Sian's scream sounded like she'd fallen down a deep well.

Book Hooks and A Guy and A Girl #MFRWhooks #MFRWAuthor

Welcome to Victoria's Pages of Romance and Book Hooks. This week's 6 to 8 sentences are from my NA contemporary romance – A Guy and A Girl

Scene Set – Scene Set – Chelsea chats with Hunter and his friends at a local pizza joint.  (yes, there's some editing :-) to get to 8 sentences.)

"I'm sitting here with three Vipers. Cool. My father would have a stroke if he knew this." She stretched her hand towards Zach and said, "Hi. I'm Chelsea."After shaking hands, Zach asked, "What's Hunter like in school?""He comes to class on time and brings an apple for the teacher. He doesn't run with scissors and shares his crayons."Hunter grinned and said, "Chelsea eats glue."

What people are saying about – A Guy and A Girl
5 Stars- I loved this book...I think that it was an awesome story.
5 Stars - By the end of this book I had tears running down my cheeks.
4 Stars - The story is solid, the love is solid, I'm looking forward to reading more books by Victoria Adams
