Cone of Shame
Look at me. Now look back at yourself, now back to me. I'm disappointed in you.
You, that individual sitting at your computer screen, reading this on your Blackberry. It oozes out of every pore, the disappointment. It reeks of many things, hardly any which are pleasant. Yes, go hang your head in embarrassment. Wear that cone of shame. Sit in the corner over there, because the results from P&E's "Best of…" results are back and Corruptor only finished #9.
That's okay, I suppose. No Thriller

Researching
I hate Wikipedia for most research but for fiction writing, it can be helpful.
Back in Denver (where the majority of my stuff is still at) I have a library of research books. Books about the Crusades, various wars in history, and famous leaders throughout the Middle Ages were always ready for me. But now I have to rely on such intermediaries like Wikipedia and I can't help but shake the feeling that something is going to go wrong.
I know my readers and they are a very… researching bunch. If I c...

Agency Fees… Or Lack Thereof
This article is an excellent example of why a reputable literary agency does NOT charge any fees outside of their commission (which is how they get paid, you know, after they've sold your book for you). Got take a look.
Remember kiddies, money always flows to the author.

News Coming Soon
I don't know when I can get into details, but very exciting news will be forthcoming in the new few weeks. I'm very excited about this, and I should have confirmation and everything else soon (as in, permission to go into details).
Woot!

Attention Pirates! Arggh!
Dear people looking for the torrent version of "Corruptor",
Over at the Fifth Impirium they have the first half of my book up for free. Go check there first for the first half. If you're still so desperate to get the book for free, then you can continue fishing on sites until you find it.
More power to you if you really want it that bad. Just one favor in return?
If you like it, spread the word.
Sincerely,
Me.

Cowboy Brain F***
Reviewed Paul McAuley's Cowboy Angels over at SBR this morning. Dear God, that book'll mess with your mind!
I'll post more this evening. Right now, I'm trying to de-blenderize my brain.

ZzzzzZZzzz…
Overslept somehow this morning and got off to a horrible start. Then I realized I was out of the caffeinated beverage and had to rush to the store before my brain shut back off. *sigh*
I didn't get a lot of writing done yesterday, thanks to it being a partial snow day. Sort of screwed up my whole schedule. Today hasn't been much kinder, though I did add some more flesh into Wraithkin. I also missed the final deadline for Preditors & Editors final day of voting on their website. I'm not...

The Asiago Tis a Lie
Behold, said the purveyor of the House of Dave, which is named Wendy's and where speed is of the essence. I harken unto thee a new, sparkling sandwich of a plucked chicken cooked with the rich, tasty Asiago cheese styled in the Italian cuisine secrets. Topped with the crispest of letti, the devil's apple and smothered in a rich vinaigrette sauce which is creamy upon thy tongue, it is certain to satisfy even the strictest of food critiques.
Come, they harkened unto mine as I propelled my...

Hook!
Blog monster is eating my cookies!
Yes, I'm writing. Not just on the blog, either. I feel all accomplished and everything today. Yeah, I could be writing more, but personally I'd rather have clean clothes so I'm in the midst of doing laundry. Which means I'm not entirely focused on writing, which is an excellent time to think about plot hooks.
Well Jason, you say as you sip your glass of ice water and stare at the oddly lit monitor, you don't know a damned thing about plot hooks.
To which I...
Whoopsies… Uh, Free Books!
Had a moment of panic last night while i was hashing out some minor details for Wraithkin (did you know that when an object orbits around the sun it's called a heliocentric orbit? I didn't know that…) when my Pandora station warned me that I was about all out of music for the month. You see, it gives you 40 hours a month free, and then after that you either pay $0.99 for the rest of the month or $36.00 for the entire year. That's not bad until you remember that you're paying for something...
