Word Count Counting

Okay, so I did make one tiny little resolution for New Year's. This one will be easier to keep than the traditional "Lose weight, flabby!" one I make on a yearly basis. I'm keeping a running word count of everything I do this year, so I won't lose two day's worth of production the next time I do a yearly word count. That includes everything I do here, btw. Ambitious? Somewhat…

Interview for the Botetourt View coming out this week. I think it's the View, I'm not certain. The journalist who...

College Football Thoughts

Well, the majority of the 2010 college football season is over (barring a few more games), and as always I'm astounded by the beat down given to the Big Ten conference. I have a lot of thoughts about this after watching the TCU-Wisconsin game yesterday (don't you dare call it an upset, the Horned Frogs were 2 point favorites), as well as some ideological rumblings about this whole "non-AQ" thing.

First off, I'll break down just who did what over the past few weeks. Remember, these aren't...

Reminiscing About the Good Ol' Days

Ack! I can't believe that I only have 2 days left in 2010! I haven't even finished a book this year!

I'm such a slacker…

Of course, I did a word count minutes ago and my tally for the year is 994,000 (I rounded down) so I know I could have written 10 books if I hadn't bounced around all over the place. That's almost one book a month. Weird. I don't remember writing that much.

Hey dingleberry, you wrote for almost 200 days straight at a 3,500 word a day pace.

Oh yeah. And December has been...

Breaking the Rules

There are worlds within worlds at play here, and we call it fiction.

One of the things I loved about writing Corruptor and its sequels was the infinite amount of creativity I was able to use. To have "worlds within worlds within worlds" as a mantra leaves so many possibilities open for me as a writer. I could do anything – take characters anywhere – and it still be a plausible path to following the main plot line. To be able to show off my creativity and not break the rules was just amazing...

News Flash! Hey, Put That Away…

Few updated notes:

Thanks to all who purchased Corruptor over the past month. Print book sales have tailed on Amazon (as expected), though I have sold almost all of my print copies I had shipped to me. The ebook has been doing fairly well thanks to you, with it being #21 in SF over at Fictionwise and #1 for my publisher. That last bit made me smile. For those of you who wanted a print copy but don't feel like shelling out a lot of dollars, I'm having a contest at the end of the month for a...

Go team!

Have you bought your copy yet, by the way? ;-)

Anti-Piracy Crusade!

The anti-piracy crusade is just that: a mission to burn, pillage and plunder every single customer into believing that they're doing it for your own good. Case in point? DRM (digital rights media), which costs and arm and a leg to maintain and prohibits purchasers from sharing (or sometimes, even playing) a song or ebook. Then the publishers and the music industry insists that this is the sole reason for the rising costs of the product. The thievery, not the DRM. Any good publisher (and...

Break Over, Back To Work

First off, hope everyone had a great holiday season. It was a great storm that swept through my state, and now my friends up in the Northeast are having to deal with it. Poor guys. For them, our 2-4 inches of snow turned into something like 16 inches. Of course, we're having something like 40+ mph winds right now. My window is shaking, and it's shielded from the direct blasts of wind!

So… I really don't know what to talk about this week. I've got "Enter Sandman" playing on my Pandora station r...

Back but Tired

Not much going on today. I'm back but have nothing prepared, so I'll leave you with a little Virginia Tech football. Go Hokies!
