The Turning by Jennifer Armintrout
The Turning by Jennifer Armintrout
My rating: 1 of 5 stars
I pick up this book with good expectations, and unfortunately it just turn to be boring!
I started by finding out it was a first person telling story, something I really don't appreciated though never prevented me from enjoying a reading ("Jasmyn" was a good example, I gave it 5 stars).
But, page by page, my excitement just keep dropping.
"Nothing new, nothing new... nothing new..." And the words just keep popping in my mind repeating themselves till the moment I was just annoyed by all the pour attempts of the writer in making something of the book when there was nothing interesting or special about it.
It seemed to me that J. Armintrout wanted it to be a "serious book" that made the reader "chill" by the horror and cruelty in some moments, and be sexy at the same time... if that was her intentions, she totally missed it!

"The Beauty Within" by Savannah J. Frierson
The Beauty Within by Savannah J. Frierson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
After "The Perfect Chemistry" had melted my heart and leave it eager for another lame book, I picked another love story.
In the second book of my reading year, my romantic side continued to be fed by "The Beauty Within".
Though much adult than "The Perfect Chemistry", this one was also heart breaking, with one bit of "real problems" that gave an unexpected interest to the story and turned the characters much more appealing.
For those who like a good romance, read it!

"Perfect Chemistry" by Simone Elkeles
Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This book opened my reading year and I'm glad for choosing it.
It turned to be such an innocent story, nothing like what I normaly read... maybe that's why I enjoy it so much.
Love in cultural different scenarios is the main subject on the book, revelled in the words of the two main characters: the rich girl who it's not so shallow as she wish to let others think, and the poor Latino guy stuck in a gang because he simple has to be and there's no choice for him.
Very light reading, and lovely for a holyday.
Recommend it for all romantics and YA fans.

"The Darkest Passion" by Gena Showalter
The Darkest Passion by Gena Showalter
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
In the end of book #5 from "Lords of the Underworld", I still can't make my mind if I like this series or not!
The truth is I keep reading it so...
Between the books I really like and the ones that make me crazy because they waste my time, this one manage to fall on the "good ones".
I find out while reading it, that what makes me like one book in the series and then not liking others, is the female characters, because I always love the mean Lords!
Damn women always spoiling my reading!
Fortunately, this time I liked the woman, or more accurately, the Angel. I like angles and if they are Fallen, even the better!

"Lightning" by Dean Koontz
Lightning by Dean Koontz
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This was my first book from Dean Koontz.
I pick it up because it was one of the best rated in Goodreads, and I liked it.
(Not loved it, just liked it.)
In the first pages, the story really get me. Laura's childhood was very good reading, but then things started to get blurry...
- many years passing way to fast
- I liked the twins so much and they were almost erased from the continuing of the story
- Laura relationship with her husband was so empty when she suppose to be so much in love... yes, it was written how much she was happy and loved him, but I never "believed it", the man was like a ghost all the time! Even in the moment he dies trying to save her and her son, he almost didn't have the right to a line of talk!
Well... this was only my first book from D. koontz and my opinion about him it's not done. I always read at least two books from an author before I make my mind about liking it or not, so let's wait to the next I have from him "Life Expectancy" and then I'll find out.

"Anansi Boys" by Neil Gaiman
Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
There's something "missing" about Neil Gaiman books and I really never get to find out what it is!
One thing is for sure, whatever it is, it's important to me as a reader because the lack of it, prevent me from say that I like his books.
just a moment, while I low my rate from 3 stars to 2...
This story (as others I've read from him) was a "nice idea" but (as the others) I'm sure that if it was written by other author, I would love it.
Forgive me Neil's fans. I really can't manage to logically justify the incompatibility...
Maybe it's the characters!? I never care about them... maybe... I don't know...
I'm still reading "American Gods" (since... God knows how long!) and though the feeling is the same, I'm gone keep trying to go for a few pages more.

"Jasmyn" by Alex Bell
Jasmyn by Alex Bell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
What a good surprise!
I pick this book because it mentioned king Ludwing and after my visit to Germany this summer I must confess that this king won it's place in my imaginary. (For those who don't know him, Google it! You must!)
For me, the most curious thing about this book was the extraordinary resemblance that I found between Alex Bell way of telling stories and my own books.
The writing it's completely different because the book was written in the first person with Jasmyn telling the story, but the all rest... the fast speed of the events, the curiosity that kept me glued to the book, the mystery, the "keep guessing"... it was unexpected for me.
About the book, I like it very much (my 5 stars say it all).
Though I'm not a fan of first person stories, all the others "plus" in the book made me forget that.
I enjoy reading it all the way.
In the end, there where some things that where missing answers and left some holes in the story.
For example: How Liam managed to stole the swansong? Why did Luke spared Liam's life by the lake?
They were little details but nonetheless important ones.
Very nice book, recommend to all.
