"On Writing" by Stephen King
On Writing by Stephen King
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I really liked this book.
I think I like it even more as a writer than a reader, because there were so many points in the way King writes that I identify myself, and that's just what it takes to put me turning pages.
It was very curious to know King's life.
I absolutely had no idea about his drinking and drugs problems.
His adventures with his brother made me laugh some times, but unfortunately I got to the last page and there where more sad/creepy moments than happy ones (the nanny in the beginning was quite distressing)
This book is definitely a must read to all writers.

No Mercy (Dark-Hunter, #19) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
No Mercy (Dark-Hunter, #19) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
My rating: 1 of 5 stars
This year I read all the books from Sherrilyn Kenyon "Dark-Hunters series" and "No Mercy" was the last title.
Unfortunately, I can't say I finished the series with a gold key. And to be totally honest, was one of the worst I read.
I didn't liked Sam from the beginning (that totally didn't help).
The new powers that Stryker got to his Daimons got my curiosity to keep reading but at some point, the story was totally lost and it was no more about Daimons but about... I really never guess what it was about.
And the end, well... there was no end.

"The Gunslinger (Dark-Tower #1)" by Stephen King
The Gunslinger by Stephen King
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
Wow! This was confuse!
I must confess that I had a hard time to get in the story and even to understand "were I was" some times.
But I heard that was quite normal, and that I just should get to the #2 "The Drawing of the Three".
My final comment: let's wait to see.
If, like me, you also confused in the end, wikipidia has a great extended synopsis. It helped me (no shame on that)
A note, more of self-critic: it's funny how we can be "pacient" with famous writers. If this was a total new / anonimous writer, I would never be so tolerant in my review and would just droped the towel and never pass to #2.

"Lair of the Lion" by Christine Feehan

After the huge failure of the "Beast" by Judith Ivory, I looked for another "Beauty and the Beast" retelling and found this book rated in one of Goodreads Listopias.
It was no doubt better!
The story is very faithfull to the classic we known from Disney (maybe that's what I liked the most) and the author made an addition of some family curse with lions, a mistery with a dead women, and some evil ghost.
Though far from a "book to remember", it was entertaining for a chilly rainy day in December.

"Beast" by Judith Ivory
Beast by Judith Ivory
My rating: 1 of 5 stars
I love the classic "Beauty and the Beast", and from time to time I pick a modern retelling of the story.
This book was one of this choices.
I dind't like it at all!
The guy found out it's fiancé was travelling with her family in the same boat he was, and he was having an affair with a married woman at the same time and in that same boat!?
I know things like that happened often in real life, but I don't like to hear about it, much less to read it in a book!
It's no surprised I didn't go furthered than the first couple of pages.

"The Way of Shadows" by Brent Weeks
The Way of Shadows by Brent Weeks
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Usualy I don't pick this kind of book to read but this one was a good surprise.
The reviews here in goodreads were very good, and at the time I was in the mood for something diferente from what I had been reading, luckly for me I choosed "The Way of The Shadows" and it turned to be some good hours of reading.
The characters captivated me right from the begining, specialy Azoth. Being him the main character, I was dragged to the story right away.
The plot was very good, though I think that at the begining there was a lot of characters and information that slow down the reading and at the end it seems they were of little use for the book. I know that maybe they will be important in the next two books, but even if it's the case, they should be left for that point.
If we pass that little detail, the book was very good, I recomend it for all fantasy readers, and I'll definatly pick the book #2 next year.

Apresentadas as ressalvas, aqui vão as regras:
Extra: Como fazer batota?
A batota maior?
Boa sorte!

"The Darkest Whisper" by Gena Showalter
The Darkest Whisper by Gena Showalter
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
God! That Gwen was a annoying girl!!!
Gwendolyn "the Timid"!?
Try Gwendolyn "the whining"! Or Gwendolyn "The Queen chicken of fear"!
For most than two hundred pages, I had to put up with the girl complainings about how afraid she was from everything!
Oh, wait.
There was something she was not afraid!
To let a stranger take ALL her closes and give her a bath!
WTF!?!?!?
Well... at least I liked Sabin, mostly because of the demon he holds.
"Doubt" always seemed to me a "good" demon.
The new informations about the other Lords were also good.
I'm curious about Paris but (for what I've seen in the author web page) his book don't seem near to come out.
I'm still to figure how I managed to get to the last page...
