Three Things

I spent a chunk of yet another weekend writing, but still managed to squeak out some fun, too!

Holiday Season Bits

3-christmas-globes-on-branchBits time!

Is your tree up yet? Do you have a traditional breakfast on Christmas morning? Everyone opens all at once or one at a time? Stockings first or last?

Have a great (and safe) weekend, everyone!

Dear Santa,

For today’s “Writing Thursday,” how about writing an intro to a Dear Santa letter. Could be from a kid, an adult, the elderly, a celebrity, whatever. Your choice. I suspect we could see some funny ones…

Your Fictional Antithesis

Well, in true read-the-whole-series-if-I-like-it style, I’ve finished Shopaholic & Baby and moved on to Mini Shopaholic.

From a purely objective standpoint, it’s rather amusing that I, an anti-shopper to the extreme, have taken to a series featuring a character is my shopping antithesis.  Then again, maybe it’s because she’s so different than I am that I can laugh at the stuff she does and says in the name of a new pair of shoes…or her 12th dining room table.

Which brings me to today’s questi...

Three Things, Pre-Holiday

This past weekend went by in a blur, seriously. But I’m pretty sure I can pull out three things…

First, we had our annual Holiday Dessert Party. This means I pull out all the stops with my baking (which I love) and we invite friends over to indulge.  This year I made White Chocolate Mousse Pastry Puffs (a must each year), a decadent chocolate cake, white chocolate/peppermint bark, gluten free sugar cookies, and some fruit fluff fruit dip.

I did a lot of writing.

Bits O’ Treat

I’m going to be quite the baking fool today as we get ready to have a few folks over for some holiday desserts. So our bits today are treat-based (yum!)…

Favorite “fancy” dessert? Favorite more regular-Joe dessert? Favorite go-to flavor (caramel, mint, etc…)? In terms of brownies–nuts or no nuts?

Have a great weekend!

Fictional Comeuppance

A question I get asked a lot when giving a talk, is whether I’ve ever written a real person into any of my stories. The short answer is: once (which I’ll get back to in a moment).

The long answer is more like this:  There are bits of me in every main character I write. She’s always more fearless than I am, prettier than I am, and braver…but little bits of me are in there, too (love of chocolate, dislike of veggies, a preference for being kind).

In terms of my other characters? I may borrow a...

First a D’oh! and Then a Day

ipadvertical_768x1024deathgoesYou ever have that d’oh moment and think how could I have forgotten that?

Well, I had one of those yesterday when I realized I didn’t clue you all in to the fact that And Death Goes To… (Tobi Tobias Mystery #3) has released.  This is one of those series that has just been a lot of fun to write and, I hope, for my readers to read.

So now that my due diligence is done and I’ve pointed you to the book HERE, and shared the back jacket blurb…
