Reading Time
My day has been rerouted a bit thanks to a “check engine” light that reared its head on my dashboard before I left for Canada last week. Joy, right?
So I’m taking my laptop to the dealership and will do my day’s writing from there. But since it’s Tuesday, I want to check in with you and see what you’re reading this week. I’m reading Don’t Let Go on my e-reader at the gym…

Lots of Things…
I am back after a rather long traveling stint. The first weekend of my 9 day excursion had me in Lockport, NY for a weekend with readers. The first stop was a panel discussion for the local Sisters in Crime chapter…
The second stop was for a signing at the Book Shoppe in Medina, NY…
The third (and main) stop was the 2017 mystery train event. Last week, before I left on the second part of my trip, I shared a picture with you that had me in a gangster outfit (the theme of the train). But he...

Bits
Bits time!
Age you were for your worst hair cut? Do you have a regular barber/hair dresser or just go to whomever? When you travel, are you a big packer or a light packer? Highways or back roads?~Elizabeth (aka Laura)

An Author’s Truth
I’ve been enjoying the “Behind the Scenes” these past few Writing Thursdays, and I figured I’ll keep them going until I run out of things to share.
Busyness and a Book
Got back last night from visiting with DD # 1. We had a great time together and I miss her already.
The rest of this week is about writing, copyedits, and getting ready for a very busy next week–a week that includes signings, talks, a mystery train, lunch with an editor, a conference, a panel, travel, etc.
While I was away, I stumbled across this fun little fact: Portrait of A Sister (my first-ever women’s fiction novel releasing next summer) is starting to pop up for pre-order! The cover...

In My TBR Batter’s Box
I haven’t been reading the past few days mostly because I haven’t been at the gym (yes, I know, I must correct that). When I do return to my routine tomorrow, I’ll be starting the new Harlan Coben book (yay!). I’ll also be re-reading my own book, Portrait of a Sister as part of the copy edit phase.
So what are you reading?

Three Things
So I jetted off to spend a few days with DD # 1 in her home-away-from-home for the next eight months. I arrived on Saturday evening, just in time to snag a ticket to an evening of improve while she finished up her shift in the box office. It is amazing to watch actors skilled in improve–the creativity and the ability to just roll with whatever is quite fun to watch!
It’s not a good picture, but here’s the stage (from my seat) during intermission…
Then Sunday was about enjoying the beautiful...

A Potpourri of Bits
I finally got to see Stronger last night. Jake Gyllenhaal was amazing!
Anyway, on to Bits…
Summer or Fall? Lunchbox or brown bag (when you were a kid)? Appetizer or dessert? Country or rock?Have a fabulous weekend, everyone!

Setting the Setting
The past two Thursdays, I’ve given a sort of “behind the scenes” tour of writing books. Week one was about naming characters. Week two was how I tend to plot the next book in a series. Today, I thought I’d look at setting details–what’s accurate/what’s made up. To illustrate my way of doing things, I thought we’d look at each of my current series.
The Southern Sewing Circle Mysteries. This series takes place in the fictional town of Sweet Briar, South Carolina. It’s not a coastal town. In m...
