Three Things

Another weekend has come and gone, bringing with it more than a few tears.

I brought my baby to college (hence the aforementioned tears) on Saturday, so that brought a whole lot of unpacking and arranging in her dorm room. But by the time we were done, everything looked nice and cozy.  Here’s a shot she took with my camera…

But before the big day, we spent our Friday getting nails done and watching Tangled…

Bits

So it’s Bits day and I’m torn between doing surprise-related bits and moving-related bits, so I shall do a little of both. With an explanation, of course.

The surprise portion is because DD # 2 surprised my last night with an outing she planned for us (and paid for) all on her own. We went to one of those paint bars and had a blast!

The moving related portion is because she’s “moving” to college in the morning and, well, you know… I’m having a hard time with this.

Last time you were the reci...

Mid-Week Fun

With my youngest heading off to college for the first time in just a few days, I’ve been trying to squeeze in as much fun together-time as possible (hence my absence from this blog yesterday).

We had a wide open day and I asked her what she wanted to do. She came back with “go to the beach.” So we headed to our beach haunt about 2 1/2 hours from here. We arrived at noon and hung out on the beach for about four hours–talking, sunning, walking, and dipping our feet in the waves (it was cold!). ...

Three Things

Sorry about today’s late post.  My flight (which was originally scheduled to arrive at 10 p.m.) got in at 2:30 a.m.  Which, translated, means I spent 6 hours at the outbound airport waiting for my flight–not fun for a mamma who just left her baby behind.

As for my three things from the weekend…

DD # 1 and I flew to the area where her job will be. And, thanks to the generosity of a friend who lives in the vicinity, we stayed 2 nights, just getting acclimated to the area. Here is DD # 1 checkin...

On Hold

This week’s “Three Things” has been moved to tomorrow as I’m busy helping one of my birds settle into her new nest.

See you then!

Job Bits

As I prepare to accompany my oldest as she sets off for her first job, I find myself thinking of job-related bits…

What was your first real job as a teenager? What was your favorite (not current) job? What was your least favorite job? Any fun stories to share from any of the above?

Have a great weekend, everyone!

A Pinch of This, A Pinch of That

Today’s post is kind of a potpourri of writing thoughts/ideas and even some questions that are designed to solicit answers I can brainstorm from…

hot cocoa*I’ve been looking ahead a wee bit to my post-hiatus writing time and realizing that I want to take my laptop on the road once a week. I figure the change of scenery will do this reluctant (soon to be) empty nester some good. On my list of remote writing spots is, of course, my local B & N. But I want to try some other spots out, too. So I’ve been e...

Movie Talk

moviereelsUgh. Staying up late always messes up my morning routine. Ugh.

That said, I saw The Glass Castle at the movie theater last night and it was good. Sad and tragic in many ways, but still good.

What’s the last movie you watched (either in the theater or at home)?  Do you tend to prefer comedies, dramas or action flicks?

A Not So Bad Oops

30 second death_ebookevensmallerSo I sorta goofed and downloaded a copy of my own 30 Second Death onto my e-reader for gym-reading (I’m still a bit iffy with the I-phone). But honestly, since I’ve written 2 more books since this one, it’s like reading something new…and I’m really having fun with it.  A good sign, I think.

In terms of non gym reading, I’m getting ready to do first round edits on Portrait of a Sister (my first ever women’s fiction novel). The editor is really pleased so other than possibly beefing up one scen...

Three Easy Going Things

It was a pretty chill weekend around here, but I can still find three things to share.

On Saturday afternoon, DD# 2 and I took a nice walk in Bear Mountain State Park. It was warm, but not muggy so it was perfect.

Saturday evening had us heading to one of my favorite chain restaurants for dinner. Yum! outback

Sunday was even more relaxed with a little sunbathing time on the back deck and a little time being a kid thanks to my throwback Nintendo system…

And that was about it. Now, tell us three thi...
