Bookin’ It

Today’s questions are easy.

What book did you just finish? What book are you now reading? What’s next on your TBR pile?

Three Things

Summer weekends just fly by sometimes, don’t they?  Even with that though, I have three things to share…

On the recommendation of DD # 2 (who knows how much I love Gru), DH and I saw Despicable M3 on Saturday evening.  Very fun!

We saw Annie at the local dinner theater on Sunday evening…

And I did a little sunbathing on the back deck on Sunday afternoon. Not too much to get crispy, but enough to, hopefully, look a wee bit sun-kissed.  **Note: my time in the sun did not come with a beach a...

Fix It Bits

I came home from a quick work trip to find that DD #1 had replaced a cracked screen on her laptop…by herself. While I know she’s smart and pretty tech savvy, it still surprised me that she was able to figure it out.

So today’s bits are fix-it related. I realize the answers may be amusing, but what the heck…

What’s the last thing you fixed? What’s the biggest thing you’ve ever broken? What’s something that broke and you had to throw away that you still think about?

Happy weekend!

The Pull

As a reader, I think I pick the books I do because they allow me to escape for a little while.

As a writer, I write the kind of books I do because I want to give my characters the happily ever after that always seems to be just outside my reach.

What is it about the books you gravitate toward that speaks to you?

Happy Girl

IMG_4027On the road today, traveling back home after a 24 hour trip to Erie, PA. I had a 2 hour non-writing related gig and the rest of the time (travel there/hotel time) to read the Linda Castillo book I’ve been waiting for since her last one came out a year ago. I started it on the first plane and, by last night, I realized I had just 62 pages to read and would have nothing to do on the plane ride home if I didn’t make myself stop.

It was hard, I tell you. Very, very hard.

But it’s a new day…a trav...

New Book, Many Laughs

Well, it’s here… 30 second death_ebookevensmaller

30 Second Death (Tobi Tobias Mystery # 2) is now officially available. If you’re an e-reader, the book is just $4.99. If you’re a paper reader, the trade size is $14.19.   You can order the book through any online vendor (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, etc).

Like the first book in the series, Death in Advertising, this latest installment in the Tobi Tobias series has plenty of time for sleuthing and laughing. Tobi is a very relatable (and funny) character and surrounds hersel...

Three Things

It was kind of a quiet, low key weekend around here, but as always I can find three fun/special things to share.

I baked some brownies (with melted white chocolate on top) on Friday night in celebration of DD# 2’s AP scores…

We had DH’s brother and girlfriend over for dinner, followed by s’mores (yep, re-using a picture)…

And on Sunday night, we watched a movie on demand…

Tell us three things from your weekend…

City Bits

I’m  heading into the city today to have lunch with a friend, which means today’s bits are city-inspired.

What’s a city you’d like to visit one day? What’s your favorite city (of the ones you’ve visited)? Brownstone or apartment building? Outdoor streetside café or restaurant on the top floor of a high building?

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Eleven Years

Running a little behind on posting today. I started my day off with a workout and then breakfast with a college senior who has interest in being a writer. She asked some really good questions which was fun.

Now I’m home and thinking about that moment, eleven years ago today, when I was told I had multiple sclerosis. I can still hear that dull roar in my head sometimes–the roar I heard over the voice of the doctor.

At the time, I was pretty thrown and definitely in denial. But today, I conside...
