Ta Da!

Here's a sneak peek at the just-completed cover for Book # 5: DANGEROUS ALTERATIONS (release date: November 1st). Isn't it  gorgeous??

Ahhhh, my cover artist loves me. She really truly does. :)   Now, with any luck, I'll get the very same artist for my new series (stay tuned for information on that later this week).

In addition to various story "clues" in the picture, my faithful readers should know exactly who that rabbit is…  Leona will be very proud!

All Over the Place

It's been a while since we've had a Bits & Pieces Friday. So let's get to it, shall we?

1) Favorite exercise?

2) Least favorite exercise?

3) What's something you've always wanted to learn, yet haven't?

4) Favorite odd smell?

5) Favorite guilty pleasure?

6) If breakfast in bed showed up on your lap, what would you want it to be?

From The Mouths of Fans

I took to my Facebook Fan page to solicit some questions for today's Writing Thursday.

Shelly's Q:  Do you have the plot all thought out before you start, or do you just let it come to you as you write?

A: Shelly, I have the basic plot worked out before I start writing. I know the who, why, how and the beginning/end.  But how I tie it all together isn't necessarily planned out beforehand. Most of the time that comes during the writing process as I get into the story and become more connected...

Dream-Induced Magic

When I was just ten-years-old, I fell in love with the idea of becoming a writer and I never looked back. Now, thirty plus years later, I'm exactly where I wanted to be—authoring a successful series. The dream has gone beyond what I imagined with best seller lists and an actual award win, but it all came from one dream.

And a lot of hard work.

When my oldest daughter   was just three years old she had a variety of things she wanted to be when she grew up. Her list included:

*Bus driver

*Garbage ...

Back To Books

As I was flying home from L.A. on Saturday, I realized just how much I was enjoying the opportunity a six hour flight gave for reading. I couldn't return phone calls. I couldn't check my email. I couldn't post updates on Facebook. And I couldn't do laundry, dishes or any of the other stuff that takes so much time at home. I could essentially write (which I opted not to do), sleep (which I did for about an hour), watch the in-flight movie the airline was showing (wasn't interested) or read.

An...

The Feet Have Returned to Earth

I'm back from L.A. and what a nice time I had! I managed to speak coherently when I accepted my award (no small feat, I tell you), and found a way to get it home in my suitcase in one piece (Yay!). Now, all I need is to get my office back together (another small feat after last month's flooding) so I have a place where it can be displayed!

Friday was spent sightseeing as this was my first time in L.A. Santa Monica pier (nice), Venice Beach (a place I have no desire to visit again) and...

A Week For The Memory Book

Wow. It's only Wednesday and this week is shaping up to be an amazing work-related week. And I do mean, amazing...

*I was asked to write three blogs for Penguin Publishing this week (very cool).

*DEADLY NOTIONS was released (I went to my local B & N just so I could see them on the shelf with my own two eyes…and then signed all of their copies).

*My couldn't-ask-for-a-better editor sent me the cover for DANGEROUS ALTERATIONS (release date: November 1st) and it is absolutely, positively perfect...

Launch Day!

It's here! It's here!

DEADLY NOTIONS–the 4th book in the Southern Sewing Circle series–hits shelves in bookstores across the country today!!! Woo-Hoo!

Aside from a great cover, I think my readers are in for a treat (though, book # 5–due out in November is my absolute favorite so far)!!!

Want a tease?

Ever since she joined the circle, librarian Tori Sinclair has known she'd do anything for her new friends–including throw a birthday bash for a fellow sewer's daughter. While the party is a hit...

Gonna Party Like It's ???

While I know Monday is not everyone's favorite day of the week, I have to say–at least this week, anyway–I disagree. With a book launch tomorrow and an award ceremony to attend on Thursday, there's a lot to do and a lot to be excited about.

Which got me thinking about parties and about all of you.

Yes, you.

What was the most fun (and/or creative) party you've ever attended? How about the most fun (and/or creative) party you've ever thrown?

I'll give my answers in the comment section later on.

We Have A Winner!!!

Congratulations to Angela Stuart of Belvidere, TN! Angela is the winner in my ME, MY FRIEND & MY LIBRARY contest! Angela, as well as a friend of her choosing AND her local library will each receive all four books in my Southern Sewing Circle Mystery Series, including the brand new, DEADLY NOTIONS!

For those of you who may be curious as to why the big prize, it's in keeping with the theme of the books–friendship, books, and Tori's job as a librarian. I'll run this contest again in October in...
