Bits O’ Favorites

Bits time!  Today I’m asking about your favorites…

Favorite chain restaurant? Favorite ice cream brand? Favorite car manufacturer? Favorite summer activity?

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Didn’t Ask, Didn’t Care

bankYesterday, after eleven years of being an account holder at a certain bank(which we’ll call Bank A for the purpose of today’s post), I opted to close everything down. It’s a process I’ve been working toward for a few months–slowly switching over direct deposits and automatic withdrawals to the far superior Bank B.

Funny thing is, I liked Bank A because it had branches everywhere and I thought that would be helpful with a job that has me on the go sometimes for signings, etc. But over the last...

That One Thing

I don’t consider myself a collector of anything in particular. Yes, I have some cool Disney pins acquired over years of visiting my favorite vacation destination, but if and when I add to it, it’s only when I go and it’s only a pin at a time. The pins, themselves, weren’t purchased because they were a pin, but, rather, because of a particular memory from that trip.

I suppose that’s why I don’t really collect anything–I’m drawn to moments and experiences more than tangibles. That said, if I we...

Books and Teeth, Teeth and Books

Today is wisdom tooth extraction day for DD # 2.  I’ve stocked up the fridge with pudding and the cabinet with small swallow-able size pasta.

Did you have your wisdom teeth removed?  I never did. Still have all four.  But these days, it seems routine…

On the book front, I finished Rebekah Gregory’s Taking My Life Back. Wow. Just wow.  This morning, I’m taking my new issue of Magnolia Journal to the oral surgeon’s office with me to read while she’s inside.  Once I’m home and she’s settled, I’l...

Three Things (and Maybe a Few More)

So I’m back. Our family vacation to Williamsburg, Virginia was fun-filled and the weather was bright and sunny every single day, making it difficult to come up with just three things to share. Alas, you may get a few bonus things this go-round.

While I didn’t get any pictures at the water park (which I adored), one of the kids managed to snap this photo just after I got on the sky ride at the amusement park. IMG_4212 (1)

My favorite part of the whole trip was visiting the Jamestown settlement. I love whe...

Summer Vacation Bits

Bits time!

What vacation spot do you best remember from your childhood? What’s your favorite place to vacation now? Preferred method of traveling for vacation? What would your dream vacation be?

Taking next week off from blogging, but I’ll be back at it on August 7th and hope you’ll be here again, too!

Pop-in

So my posting this week and next week will be spotty at best, but I haven’t forgotten you. My girls and I were on our First Annual DDs & Me Road Trip the past few days. The fact that it’s now earned “First Annual” as part of the title tells you we had a good time!

We spent the first two nights in Lincoln, NH–a fun little mountain town that we fell in love with last summer while DD# 1 was working at their theater. We spent time on the river, on Segways, watching bears perform, star gazing on t...

Road Trip Bits

The girls and I are days way from embarking on a 3 night/4 day mother/daughter(s) trip. After the year we’ve had, it’ll be a nice new memory!

So, I figured some road-trip inspired bits were in order for today…

Favorite road-trip food for the car? Favorite road-trip CD for the car? Windows down or AC? Fast food stops or sit down restaurants (while driving)?

Enjoy your weekend, everyone!

Waiting on the Other Side

While I haven’t done any active writing since I turned in Portrait of a Sister to my editor in mid June, my brain is slowing working it’s way through the projects I’ll have ahead of me once this “hiatus of sorts” is over.

*The synopsis proposal for my 2nd Amish based women’s fiction (ideas are starting to form in bits and pieces).

*The 6th book in my Amish Mysteries (I’ve been reading my way through this series to remind myself of subplot possibilities).

*An Amish mystery/romancy novella for...

Finding my Footing

As you all know, I’ve putting my writing aside for the summer to take a much needed break. Officially, it didn’t start until July 1st, but even with that, I’m doing writing related things every day (this blog, social media stuff, etc).  So while there haven’t been any true “bum days,” simply alleviating myself of the pressure to produce for a little while has been nice. Still, for someone who always feels as if she has to be doing something, this “break” stuff is taking a little getting used...
