Three Things: The Mother’s Day Edition

While Mother’s Day is normally a one-day event, because of geography it turned into a weekend long gig around here this time. Therefore, all of my “three things” stem from that.

On Saturday morning, I met DD # 1 in NYC for brunch at Max Brenner’s Chocolate Bar.  The food was pretty incredible, especially after a week of really watching my sugar intake.

In Your Neck of the Woods

So a fun post idea came my way this week, and it’s one I think you’ll all enjoy.

If the main character from one of my series was to rent an apartment in your neck of the woods, what are some sights you’d tell her to check out (places to go, restaurants to try, tourist sites, etc)?

Sports-Time

I’m the first to admit I’m not a terribly sporty person.  I try to keep up on my workouts at the gym, but beyond that, I’m pretty much all about writing.  I like to shoot around a basketball on occasion but it’s rare. And when it comes to sports I enjoy watching, well I’d say college basketball is my favorite, followed, surprisingly, by professional hockey.  I’ve only been to the latter once, but it was way more fun than I would have expected.

So tell us what sports you love to play (are you...

My Current Read

So I finished Assaulted Pretzel(Amish Mystery # 2) and moved on to Shunned and Dangerous (Amish Mystery # 3).  I realize it probably sounds weird that I’m reading my own series, but since I write so many different books/series, I’m finding this helpful in getting me a) back into the story as I prepare to write # 6 and b) refreshing my memory on what’s going on in the lives of all the characters.

What are you reading?

Three Things

It’s Monday again. Which means we’re back at work doing what we have to do. But this past weekend? I had some have-to’s that were super fun, making it tough to pick out just three things to share.

First, I spent part of my weekend in Boston for an MS-related thing I do. The hotel was awesome and my view wasn’t too shabby, either…

I learned a lot while I was there, but more importantly, I got to spend time with so many people I admire and respect, not the least of which is these two lovely la...

Getting It Right

This week, the main character in my work in progress finds herself in a setting I’m not familiar with myself. So I’ve been looking at pictures and talking to people who have been in an attempt to make the scene as realistic as possible.  In the grand scheme of things, the setting is only described in bits and pieces sprinkled throughout the chapter, but I guess I feel if I can picture myself being there, I can make my character being there seem more real.

Is there a setting you’ve been to in...

Fasten Your Seatbelts

So the next two months are going to be a little nutty (good nutty, but nutty nonetheless) around my house. This month brings a 2 day work trip to Boston for me, Mother’s Day, DD # 1’s college graduation (I’m still in shock), scholarship and other special award nights for DD # 2 as her graduation approaches, and my deadline for my first women’s fiction novel.

June is more writing, more special school related nights, prom, DD # 2’s graduation (I’m not sure I can handle this), her family graduat...

What We’re Reading

Today finds me almost exactly where I was reading-wise last week, although I did steal away enough time to finish Kitchen Privileges, the autobiography type story on Mary Higgins Clark.  Reading how much money she got for her first suspense novel was quite a kick. Wow, things have changed (and not for the better).

Since my gym time has been non existent until this morning, I’m still reading my own, Assaulted Pretzel.

I did finish my final pass read of Dial M for Mousse (Emergency Dessert Squa...

Three Things

Another weekend has come and gone, leaving me three things to share that were special…

Friday, the house was quiet as DH was  working overtime and DD # 2 was out on a date. Sooo, I had some quiet me time. I pulled out some Easter candy and watched Forest Gump. I’ve seen it many times, but love it every time.

Saturday evening, we got to watch DD # 1 in her school’s production of The Cherry Orchard. She played Danyasha and did a fabulous job. What fun it is to watch your child reaching for the...
