Snow Bits

Believe it or not, it’s a snow day here today. And it’s actually looking as if we’ll have another one on Tuesday (though, that’s still a way off). So I’m going to give you a few snow-related bits.

Favorite thing to do on a snow day? Last time you rode on a sled of any kind? Favorite snow day treat/drink? One plan for your weekend.

Have a great weekend, everyone! And if you haven’t picked up your copy of The Silence of the Flans yet, I hope you do.

You’re Me…

writergirlIt’s probably just a sign of getting older, but it hurts to write. Something around the area of my right (outside) wrist bone (and slightly above) literally hurts when I write.  Typing is fine (thank God), but writing–not so much. I probably should see an orthopedist to see if I have tendonitis, but really, what can they do? Because I type for a living, essentially, I would never consider surgery on my wrists/hands.  A brace, maybe? But in my *cough cough* years on this earth, I’ve never worn...

That Blur? That’s My March

I’m going to be a driving fool today.

First up, bringing DD # 2 to one of the two colleges she’s narrowed her selection down to for “shadow day.”  She’ll attend a class and eat lunch with a student, and I’ll find a local Panera or something to hole up in and work on copy edits for Emergency Dessert Squad Mystery # 3 (Dial M for Mousse). I may even stop in at the Barnes & Noble up there and sign stock of The Silence of the Flans.

Reading Time

silenceflans_front mech.inddSo today is the release of my 26th book, The Silence of the Flans (Emergency Dessert Squad Mystery # 2). I’m excited for my dessert squad fans to see what’s next for Winnie and the rest of the Serenity Lane crew.

If you read it and enjoy it, please consider talking it up with your reading friends. I’d really appreciate it! And if you are out and about in a physical bookstore during this first week of sales (3/7-3/12) and see it on a shelf, snap a picture of you with The Silence of the Flans (...

Three Things

It’s Monday again (how does that keep happening?!?).

My weekend went by pretty quickly thanks to a lot of “stuff” I had to do. But as this whole “three things” has taught me the past few months, it wasn’t a complete waste. Even within “the stuff” there was still good stuff…

Exhibit A:  I spent a huge chunk of my time in the car on Friday, picking up DD # 1 for her spring break but then shuttling her straight into the city for her senior showcase. It was a lot of windshield time (ho hum), but...

Bits

It’s time for Friday bits!

Favorite vegetable? Least favorite veggie? Did you ever break something that belonged to someone else? If so, what? Something guaranteed to make you cringe? Do you have any relatively new fears/phobias? If so, what?

Enjoy the weekend!

You…As a Song Title

musicnotesHere’s  fun writing ( I hope) for you today.

If you were to write a song that captures you, what would you call it?

Me? I’d go with either Mom or Work In Progress.

Anecdote Time

In addition to my writing, I have a part, part part-time job that occasionally has me at an event with doctors. Last night was one of those gigs and the doctor was fantastic. Funny, engaging, and interesting. Near the end of his talk, right before it was time for me to stand up and do my thing, he threw out this story of a patient that had me scrambling for a pen and something to write on.

Why?

Because, as a mystery writer, I’m always looking for neat ways to maim.

Re-reads

a-cry-in-the-nightI’m re-reading an old favorite at the gym this week. In fact, it’s the book that turned my fiction writing aspirations toward mystery/suspense.

I’ve re-read this book many times. As I have the Laura Ingalls series when I was a kid.

Do you ever re-read? If so, what?

Three Things

Yet another weekend has come and gone far faster than I wish it had. Still, I have three things to share from what otherwise felt like a blur…

Saturday afternoon, DD # 2 and I did a little baking in preparation  for a visit I’ll have on Mystery Lover’s Kitchen next weekend. We made one of the desserts mentioned in next week’s release, The Silence of the Flans. While I’ll wait until my appearance on the blog to share what we made, I think I’m safe showing this picture…

Then DD # 1 came up on...
