You’ve got every movie you’ve ever watched at your disposal and time enough to watch one. What do you choose and why?

Multiple Reads
While I know I’ve said I don’t read multiple things at one time, I actually am at the moment (wonders never cease, eh?).
I’m still working on Mary Higgins Clark’s autobiography, Kitchen Privileges. I didn’t finish it on my flight last weekend, but want to get back to it as soon as possible. I’m reading through final pass pages for 30 Second Death (Tobi Tobias Mystery # 2). On the elliptical at the gym, I’m reading my first Amish mystery, Hearse and Buggy as a way to get my head back in that...April 9, 2017
Three Things
It’s Monday and I’m hoping to get in a very productive week, work-wise, while still having time for some Easter break time fun.
This past weekend was a busy one, with DD # 2 being the star. So this week’s three things all include her…
Friday night was “Dinner with the Deans” at her top college choice. It’s a special evening for students who have received the school’s “presidential scholarship.” We got to talk with the dean of the department in her chosen major, so that was great.
Then we...

A Good Starting Place
While talking with students at my alma mater (high school) yesterday, I shared a few things they should be doing now if they think fiction writing is a career they want to pursue. I figured maybe I should share a few of them with all of you, too. So here goes…
Read the genre you want to write. Not to copy it, but to familiarize yourself. Write. I realize this seems like a no-brainer, but procrastination has a way of winning out. So just sit down and write. A little every day. If you wrote...Career Day
It’s Career Day at my old high school today and so I’m off to talk to students about my job as an author and the many hats I wear on any given day.
When you were in high school, what did you want to be?

Fan Girl-ing All Over Again
So it’s no secret I was inspired into writing mystery (as opposed to children’s books) by my love for Mary Higgins Clark’s writing.
I’ve had the good fortune to speak to her briefly on the phone in 2005…
And met her in person a few years later…
But I’ve always wondered what it would be like to sit down and really talk to her. So when I saw my mom on Sunday and she lent me this book about her life, I was thrilled. Needless to say, I spent my entire flight from North Carolina to Atlanta rea...

Three Things
Busy, busy weekend and it’s continuing through mid-week, but I wanted to pop in and share three things from my weekend (which started on Thursday for me this time).
I flew to North Carolina on Thursday to spend a few days with a longtime (as in 40 year) friend going through cancer treatment. She needed time with me, I needed time with her, and we made the most of it. The day before we went to chemo, we had lunch by the beach and spent hours talking.
Friday was chemo day (we took a selfie in...

My Day
So I’m talking at a women’s club this afternoon with a friend/fellow author. And while I have to pack a lot of things into my day before I travel down to NC to help a friend going through a tough time, I’m looking forward to it. I enjoy talking to groups about the Amish/my books/writing in general, but getting to do it with a friend is always fun. We know the questions to ask each other to get everyone loosened up quickly (aka laughs flowing), so it ends up being a ton of fun.
Very often, on...
