Pet Peeves and More

bookbookmarkSince I’m away from home, I’m not hitting the gym every day. And since I’m not hitting the gym every day, I’m not reading as much. However, I did get a little elliptical time in at the fitness center here on the property yesterday morning, so I can say I’m still actively reading Sophie Kinsella’s Shopaholic Ties the Knot.

Any free time I get is being spent writing.

So a few things for you this morning…

*What are you reading? Are you enjoying it? What is a pet peeve of yours in the genre of bo...

Three Things

Another weekend has come and gone and thinking of three things to share is requiring a bit more brain power than I seem to have (the icky, cold weather isn’t helping). Still, I’ll give it a whirl…

Saturday was spent in the car as DH and I headed south to spend a little time in the Smokey Mountains. Unfortunately, this will be more of a working-vacation for me than I’d originally imagined, but I’ve got deadlines I can’t ignore.  That said, the drive was uneventful (always a good thing when tra...

Spooky Bits

happy-halloweenIn honor of Halloween being just around the corner, it seems appropriate we have themed bits today.  So here we go…

Best costume you ever saw? Best costume you ever wore? Do you still dress up now? Back in the day, did you use a pillow case or a bucket when trick or treating?

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Lightening the Plate a Little

I’ve been working on a secret project the past few weeks and, yesterday, I typed “the end.” So today and tomorrow is about reading/editing.

Then, come this weekend, I start on the bigger part of my secret project.

Forced Movement

blackandwhite1I try to go to the gym five or six days a week. Sometimes, I hit that goal. Sometimes (like yesterday), I don’t. A lot of days I don’t want to go, but I’m always glad when I did.

My cardio of choice?

1) The elliptical (which I used to despise but now see as built-in reading time)

2) Stationary bike

3) A run on the treadmill

When I go, I always do # 1. What I do afterward is usually up for grabs–sometimes the bike, sometimes a run.

I shoot for two of the three each time I go because it’s impor...

Current Reads

My current read at the gym is the 3rd book in Sophie Kinsella’s Shopaholic series (thank you, Andrea!), Shopaholic Ties The Knot.

They’re fun books, and fun is good. Especially as my own workload ratchets up ten-fold these next few months.

So what are you reading? How’s it going so far?

Three Fall Weekend Things

It was a happy weekend for me around here thanks to the 3-day fall weekend that had DD # 2 home from college!

Sleep Bits

Last night, the 9 + days of traveling for work events, followed by the two back-to-back ones I did on Wednesday, caught up to me and I was exhausted. So I thought maybe we’d do some sleep-related bits today.

The Other Part of the Author Thing

I’ve been doing a lot of reader events lately. In addition to the ones that had me traveling to upstate New York and Canada, I just did two more yesterday. And while it takes me away from my writing, it always reminds me of one of the things I’ve come to love most about my career. Getting to hang out with readers and talk to them about books, life, etc., is quite a lot of fun.

Back in the day, when I was first published, the in-person stuff was always hard for me. I’m more of an introvert by...

Take Your Pick

old-style-tv-setI thought we’d try a little something different (and, hopefully, laugh-worthy) around here today.

I’m going to throw out a few well-known TV shows (older ones), and I want you to tell us (per show) which one character (not actor) you wouldn’t mind hanging out with and why. You can answer as current you or past you, it’s your choice.   Your selection/reason can be funny, serious, whatever. If you aren’t familiar with the show, feel free to take a pass on that one.

Here we go…
