New Week, New Read

sophiekinsellaSo I’ve officially read my way through Sophie Kinsella’s Shopaholic series at the gym over the past two months or so. When I went to get the next one and discovered there wasn’t another one, I went into a minor “what will I read” panic.

That didn’t last long as a trip to her page had me picking one of her standalones (Can You Keep A Secret), which I’m enjoying very much.

However, since I’ll be traveling the rest of this week, I’ve decided to put it aside (at 45 percent read) in favor of a boo...

Three Things (Other Than Writing)

Mondays just keep coming faster, don’t they? Wow. Anyway, my weekend was spent doing a lot of writing. I’m thisclose to writing “the end” on this novella project. In fact, I’ll be typing that at some point this morning and then I move into reading/tweaking/editing and…sending. The “sending” part will come Thursday.

Still, despite the heavy writing time, I can still pick out three things to share.

Fed Ex brought these babies to my house.  Yup, those are ARCs (Advanced Reader Copies) of my firs...

The Oddest of Bits

Bits time!

The last thing you made with your own two hands? The wall color in your bedroom? Look to your left, what’s the first thing you see? Look to your right, what’s the first thing you see? One word that describes you as you are at this moment?

Have a great weekend!

Writing Update: Jan 2018

portraitforcoverfbIt’s been a while since I’ve given a writing update, so here we go:

*I’m currently working on a novella that will be part of an anthology with three other authors. The book will release in early 2019, with all three stories taking place in the same Amish town in Pennsylvania. Stay tuned for more details on this.

*On deck is my 2nd Amish-based women’s fiction novel.  I’ll be starting that as soon as I turn in the above mentioned novella. This project will take me to June 1st.

*Over the next fe...

That Moment…

I finished Shopaholic to the Stars and have moved on to the next book in the series, Shopaholic to the Rescue.  I’m about 38 percent into it (according to my Kindle) and enjoying it very much.

What I love about following a series (as a reader) is that moment when the characters begin to feel effortless for the author–like she/he knows them so well that they jump off the pages as real people. I really felt that on a new level in these last two books. Yes, I enjoyed the characters before, but l...

Odd Bits

So I took the new car out for a spin yesterday.

Well, not a spin, exactly… I had to take it up to the dealership to get it’s plates. Since the weather was dry, it was a treat. Today, is the state inspection, and then back into the garage it goes until the nasty weather is over.  My current car is still kicking so I’m driving that for all the piddly little trips around town.

Anyway, it’s Bits time, so let’s get to it, shall we?

Your current must-see TV at the moment? Last night’s overnight te...

Line Two…

I’ve got a writing prompt for all of you today. Based on a first line we all know, with a request for you to give us the *next* line based on your own imagination.

Ready?

It was a dark and stormy night.

What next?

Trash or Keepsake?

So I’m starting to go throw boxes and bins in the attic in the hopes of finding things I can throw out, and keeping better track of things I can’t (like keepsakes). I know there are some in this world who will throw away anything and everything regardless of memories, but that’s not me. I know how important tangible links of any kind can be to someone who has nothing else.

The first box I got into had some of my news clips from my journalism days.  It was pretty culled already, with only a ha...
