Formatting Friday: Children's Books
There are just as many options in Children's book as there are in fiction novels. The most common would look like the attached picture. Images should give enough space .125 inches, though I suggest .25 to be on the safe side. Make sure your illustrator knows the size of the book and the extra space needed for proper printing. The words of the story should stand out from the pictures. The options come in at what age range the book is for. The below is for very young readers. This is why the text

Travel Thursday-Tulip Bulbtime
Windmills stand guard over rows of bulbs. Turning wooden wings flying with the ocean breeze. Festivals dedicated to flowers and beauty of the once Golden Age rarity. A mania of noblity, like other manias to have what those below you can not possess. Fortunes lost on single bulbs for no reason other than vanity. Cyclists peddle by bright fields lining the coast and canals alike. One peddle per hundreds of petals. Enough beauty for every soul to enjoy the view.

Artsy Monday-Color Me in a Few of My Favorite Things
I've told people for years that there is a psychology reason for the love of color. Not only does your favorite color say tremendous amounts about you but also can be used to your advantage. Why not? Others have been doing so for years. White. While the essence of everything clean is the lack of all color it can make big statements. A doctor seems sterile, exactly what you want from someone about to cut you open, or stitch you up. That wedding dress, whether appropriate these days or not,

How it happened: Book Cover-Fed Up!
This had to be one of my favorite covers, that's hard to say after you've done a few hundred. The fact that it wasn't one of my own novels...well bites. From the moment I heard the title I was excited. Then Chip continued to talk about his creation. Must like other authors his enthusiasm for the project was addicting (like smelling the markers for school white boards-What only me... nevermind.) I didn't start the thought with the chalkboard. NO that would have been too easy. I went through about

Travel Thursday-Chichen Itza
Not far from wave and shells, away from the bikini clad visitors there is always a place of rocks too large for a human to move stack in mountains build high to unseen gods where blood stains won't go away from sacrifices. So far we are from modern light that the stars light up the world. Every speck of astral dust twinkles ghosts of the past blinking at their home. Ancient cities long abandoned for modern convenience stand like centennials waiting for people to remember. To visit. To ask

Artsy Monday-Color Me Extreme
PURPLE: Starts where pink leaves off giving us some pretty passionate prose. Though it quickly changes into a different sort of passion, the kind that sparks bravery into the hearts of mankind. Sacred to the elite few to receive a Purple Heart and leading into crests of Royality, make the hard to find color sought after by many. Rarely found in nature violet hues can come off as pretty fake but when you find the real deal there is a sense of sophistication afforded to the wealth of luxury.

How it happened: Book Cover-Frame Me
"I want it framed." You want what? HMM. Now there are good and bad things about this design. I really do like the frame. I like the simplicity of the thin, ornate flourish. I like the fact that it lays at the edge of your vision, drawing the eye into the center where the information that is actually important resides. The bad thing: Most printers including Createspace and Lightning Source require a bleed around the edge and suggest that any design you upload to them gives space for slips

Formatting Friday: Chapter Titles
Want to talk about variety, the sky is the limit. From the placement, whether you want to start at the top of a page and save space or the middle of the page and give the eye more rest to the actual text used. There's not a place that you can make more choices that right there. Mortal's, Gods, and a Muse have half page beginnings. Not only to let your eyes rest but because of the unique text for the chapter title, I wanted extra space. The second pictured is Live like the Breeze, since this is
