Book Cover Saturday-Hamlet
I constantly see people putting out new versions of old books. Nothing wrong with that. They have to have covers too.Every now and again someone will want a cover recreated as well. Some best selling book that they think they can match the visual and sell as many copies. For the next few weeks Saturday will be dedicated to my recreation of classics. This week I've chosen Hamlet! Modernized of course! This is the last one for the run I just made of these, though it might have been one of the first I made. I love it. I love the grainy texture. I love the smoky corners. I love the words in the eye sockets.I may just have to write an appropriate book for this cover.

Book Cover Saturday-Pride and Prejudice

This week I've chosen Pride and Prejudice. The first thought was white gowns that were worn often. Then of course the contrast of a typical black mens' coat. Switching the colors on the words as they cross from one to the other.

Book Cover Saturday-Nineteen Eighty Four 1984

Some best selling book that they think they can match the visual and sell as many copies. For the next few weeks Saturday will be dedicated to my recreation of classics. This week I've chosen Nineteen Eighty Four. Drool. One of my favorite books. So of course it's all about Big Brother watching and scanning minds. So I have as many cameras with simulated eyes as I could find (I could have put more but the white space is welcomed from all the business.)

Formatting Friday: Image filled pages
I've had the pleasure of doing a few image heavy books. Unfortunately, I don't have permission to share most of them do to image copyrights. So after being asked for the twelfth time in a week I took one of my personal favorites and replaced the images and text with placeholders. The unique quality of making coffee table books and other image filled pages is that each page is its own world or a spread. Even when each section or chapter is cohesive each page is it's own.In the below I left the layout the same as the previous book so it's not perfectly suited for picture and text but the idea is to give an example of possibilities. I enjoyed this project so much because they specifically wanted different fonts, sizes, and layouts throughout and it was all up to me.The original book was over 100 pages, but I didn't want to recreate the entire book so I tried to capture something a little different. Which worked but Churches ended up on the wrong side of the page.
