Blog Talk

So, I've written on how much I truly hate to blog. Let's face it, if I'm going to write I want to write. For the last two days I've had the pleasure of writing almost 2500 words a day on a very strange compilation that I hope works out. Before I was an author, because I've always been a writer, I talked for a living. I spoke to hundreds of people a day. I was a waitress, I was a telemarketer, I was a salesperson, I was a talker. Yet somehow I get very quiet on podcasts, and they keep inviting

Artsy Monday

Let's face it--if there were a day of the week where the majority of people could use a little beauty in their life--it's Monday. Beauty might differ between people but appreciation should be fairly consistent. So from this point forward I deem Monday the day of Art! I'm sure this will be mostly visual, maybe a little music. Let's get started.   The first I've chosen a little minimalism. Why? Because it's Monday morning and my brain hasn't had enough sleep or coffee to handle much more.   If you

Formatting 101-Don't Do This to Your Book

I've seen some horrific attempts at creating a book over there years. Since InDesigns creation, it's only become worse. The above was sent to me by a regular client,(yes it's really small so you can see who did this) and when I converted his PDF back to word, I found out just how deep the problem went.   The manuscript had been sent to a friend of his, who offered to do the work for free--because let's face it, publishing is a hard gig.  So at first glance I expect everyone to notice the

Travel Thursday-Pink Sands

I want a shore of coral and shells stretching out for as far as I can see in remembered candied concoctions of too much Limoncello and not enough cherry. The first breath going to my head like tiny bubbles too long kept in a glass by a wicked cork.   The blue water can only lighten and give way to the power of land tinted by tentative time. There is no mixing of masculine blue seas and the pink shores. No violet to mar the contrasting realms of Poseidon and man.    The eternal sight should not

How it happened: Book Cover-Finding Madelyn

Let's start off with the name. Most novels will name themselves without a problem. This thought started off as Memories of Madelyn. I love the repeating MMM, just yummy. Which then morphed to Minding Madelyn since at the time the shorter titles seemed to do better than my very long title.  Which morphed again into Finding Madelyn as that's where the story starts.    I started with the design and fashion of 1947, when the story takes place. I love the attitude of the girl. I love the dress and

For the hatred of Blogging

I really do hate blogging. I have always said that if I'm going to write then by god I'm going to work on a novel, or at least a short story. So how do I do it. Well, typically not very well. You can look back on my history and see huge gaps because I'd prefer a death sentence to having to sit down every week or even once a month and try to come up with something on the spot to say that is engaging in any way. But I can sure as hell plan... So, I decided that I needed something simple to offer
