5 Things Men Need to Know but Women Won’t Tell Them…
Women are keepers of all kinds of secrets. There is a vault of emotions kept close to the vest helping ensure our microcosms stay intact. Unhappiness, pain, frustration, fear, insecurity, and suffering all simmer beneath the delicate feminine quilt upheld for appearances. Preserving the gracious silence to avoid rocking life’s boat is our specialty.
Plenty of women live day to day carrying the weight of a home. Caring for a tribe can be physically and emotionally challenging. Numbing your dreams and goals to prioritize a home, partner and family is a duty fulfilled for the sake of love. It is not only the expectation of what should be done. Women are trained for the role from a young age.
Often, the self-neglect that forms is mind-boggling. You can feel yourself sinking into nothingness, so much that you don’t recognize who you are anymore. You cannot find your voice, nor does he desire to hear you out sometimes. Husband, boyfriend, fiancee or significant other left clueless of the reservations their partner may hold. The thing that many men don’t get is, what women want most in return for love’s sacrifice is to be seen and heard.
Relationships require an ongoing effort from each partner. Ideally, an exchange of needs and wants should be shared between you. However, it doesn’t always work out that way but there is room for improvement. AW does not speak for all women. The thoughts expressed are from personal experience as a female that has played the part of girlfriend, fiancee, and wife at various point in life. One of the lessons learned which I try to remember is that men, neither own a crystal ball nor are intuitive by nature. From time to time they need a little assistance to understand a few things.
Guys, if you happen to be reading, we want you to know:
1. Chivalry is Appreciated: It would be nice if you held the door, pulled a chair, or said something nice as a way of letting us know how you feel. Make us feel special, we are sure to do the same for you every chance we get.
2. Listen: We know men can get lost in the details. Rambling off a story or problem at 50 words per minute is inefficient. First, you tend to only hear what you want. Second, your short attention span forces the mind to wander after minutes.
Ladies, my suggestion to help men listen better? Let’s use of the pause button to assist the process. Steer clear of emotional and intense rants, they are rational beings who don’t answer well to hysteria. Think and gather what you need to say in advance to give you the best chance to be heard. It is not 100% effective but maybe we can try doing things differently to see if it works better.
3. Our Dreams Matter Too: We love supporting our men and their vision but our dreams are just as important. If we’re more fulfilled as individuals then we are more likely to feel happier. Have you heard “A happy wife is a happy life”? The statement applies to various scenarios, you get the drift? Women have their own thoughts and goals and want to be recognized as people, too.
4. Women Don’t Have an On/Off Switch: Women are perceived to be more emotional than men. Plenty like affection and attention in preparation to embrace an intimate moment. Do not mistake us for machines or robots that can start and stop on a whim. We don’t really function that way.
5. Women are Not Pseudo-Moms: We are not your mothers or caretakers, look at us as partners in life. Walking alongside you is our preference, equally invested in the relationship. Women did not come this far to follow footsteps behind a man, as it would set us back decades.
Ladies, if you have not already done so, find the inner confidence to tell your men what they need to hear. You have a responsibility to express yourself. Share thoughts in a timely and constructive manner to assist your mate in better understanding your needs. Hopefully, it brings a higher level of closeness to the relationship.

The 2 Things Most Men Lie About May Surprise You
Untrue stories can take time to craft or none at all. The right ones can put anyone from a love interest, wife, girlfriend, or any beloved at peace but may also leave unrest. Fooling someone takes effort and can throw anyone into a pool of their own sweat.
Men and women have the capability to conceal information or give a misleading impression. Whether the motive is self-preservation or insecurity, these hidden treasures can be found all around us. Skeletons pile up in the least likely of places. Persons hiding or lying about a variety of things. But do genders lie about the same stuff? What do you think?
According to an article by Readers Digest there is a shortlist of things men lie about, some of which I did not consider prior to writing this article. Plenty will resonate with you since they’re classic tales. He may lie about his feelings, how much he needs you, past relationships or mistakes, fantasies and his personal performance. Probably, not shocking to women reading – is it?
There are other lies often told that can be more surprising to a degree. Honestly, I didn’t have it on my list when writing this article. Once, I began pondering the question it progressively made more sense. Digging into my mental Rolodex, as far back, as humanly possible. I was enlightened by the number of times, recalled that I was unable to get a straight answer on the income question. How much do you make at your job? What is your net-worth? What is your debt-ratio?
I cannot say, I’ve known the financial particulars of any partner, outside of a couple of instances. Staying away from the topic of money was apparently the most appropriate way to proceed in my relationships. In fact, my own parents never really discussed money. Whether inquiring or disclosing finances in a conversation, these matters tend to make people, in general, rather uncomfortable. Women are often more open about what they are experiencing in their lives. Men are less likely to share, therefore, discussing topics like salary, debt, and very personal details does not happen with the same frequency. In fact, the article implies that males may avoid or brush over the subject altogether. Today, I know better and leave the door open to discuss the tough subjects including his credit score, if necessary. You don’t have to outright ask for a man’s salary but there are ways to tell whether his economic standing is steady. You want someone who can meet you halfway, not necessarily take care of you or the other way around. It should want someone that can meet you halfway, as an equal financial partner in the relationship. Do not be afraid to ask the hard questions if you both plan on a long term partnership.
The other fib men find themselves telling is about their height. Stretching inches is not an uncommon practice. Plenty of males add small increments to their stature, as a way to make themselves feel better. In August 2019, GQ magazine published an article about how men lie about their height on dating apps. If you compare the measurements provided on a driver’s license versus what is claimed in person, you may find slight room for error. Although, what’s a few inches when he can make up for it in other ways, right? There are other battles to win, major lies to worry about more than falling short (no pun intended) of his actual height.
Lying by omission is not to be taken lightly because it ruins relationships. Telling a lie about the number of girlfriends you’ve had or how tall you are is less damaging than a lie to do with money or an affair. There are issues that can be repaired in a relationship but trust and candid conversation must take place between the two parties.
Has your guy ever lied to you about anything? Post Comments.

Happy New Year – Toast to 2020 Goals!
Each year on this date, we begin our rituals. New resolutions written in some notebook, or typed into a phone. Have you made your promises, yet?
Tomorrow, many of us will begin taking down Christmas trees, activate gym memberships and head out to work or school. A return to the daily grind is imminent. So, what has really changed since December 31, 2019?
In 2019, I set goals for AW, as well as, personally. There was a deep-rooted desire to figure out new ways of helping women in various parts of the globe. A tremendous amount of effort was put in to provide readers with quality content. The numbers tell a good story, as we are closing in on 100,000 views and I am grateful for all the wins to date.
AW was featured in several magazine imterviews and podcasts. Guest spots on other blogs have helped me connect with amazing women. Dozens of articles published in BELatina digital provided new challenges. Most recently, AW was spotlighted in Weekly Trends, FEN which gave me an opportunity to spread empowerment to a larger readership. Lastly, an AW book and logo was released aiding the development of the AW brand.
The goals set in 2019 have been accomplished. So, what is the difference between yesterday and today? A new wave of goals has been created to push me to rise to the next level.
If last year was not what you hoped for or came up short on wins. The new year can offer a way to wipe the slate clean. Celebrate 2020 by creating a list or vision board for yourself. Design your dream the way you want it to happen then start moving the parts, doing the work that will get you within proximity of it. Woman! You are a force to be reckoned with but you need to put those wishes out into the universe.
Ready-Empower-Goal! 2020 here we come!

ROAR! Fierce and Empowering
Melissa Kelly stumbled on her gift, like many others, by really seeing through to the heart of a matter. She saw a void that needed to be filled and found the courage to dare go for it.
Women have different means to raise their voices against injustice. Unfair or hostile treatment comes in many forms including violence, harassment, or abuse. The mistreatment may be physical, emotional or psychological, often leaving irreversible damage. We must recognize the pain then use it to fight back. It is necessary to exercise our rights as human beings by speaking out. Everyone can contribute individually by taking their power back one act a time.
The professional photographer was looking for fierce feminine goddesses to showcase in her shoot. Women dressed as warriors that would impact readers visually. The amazing number of responses led to something better. Melissa’s purpose was born from this assignment. She found the women being photographed all had a story that needed to be told to anyone willing to hear it. ROAR! Fierce Feminine Rising came to life by giving all types of women a loudspeaker.
The magazine’s images are visually and spiritually empowering. The connection was impossible to ignore. The first time I looked through its pages, it was awe-inspiring. I was overcome by feelings of power, strength, and femininity, as I looked at the photos accompanying the stories.
If you can imagine how I felt when Melissa invited me to submit Awakened-Woman’s story to the magazine. The AW narrative appeals to the everyday female. The one that wakes up every morning to fight for what she wants and deserves. The girl who has the courage to be and love herself after learning the lessons from past mistakes. The woman that does not give up in spite of anyone’s belief her pipe dream has no legs.
Awakened-Woman‘s story has been accepted by ROAR for its March 2020 issue. The beautiful magazine created by Melissa Kelly has gained a place in AW’s must-see because the photographs and stories are about giving female warriors an opportunity to speak up. The beauty is shown from the inside out for readers to gain an understanding of womanhood.
Excited, proud, grateful and looking forward to working with Melissa on this upcoming project. Happy to share this piece of news as Awakened-Woman continues to take shape in 2020.
Supporting other women is a great way to empowerment. ROAR’s goal to create a sisterhood is being realized by connection. Please join us in celebrating women warriors everywhere!

Open Letter to Readers on Christmas
Dear Readers of AW,
May you be spending today with loved ones that bring comfort and joy into your home. As you open beautifully wrapped boxes on Christmas morning, remember, there are many whose lives are not as blessed. Give thanks.
I hope your heart is full and you are presented not necessarily with the gifts you want. It is my wish that you have all you need to live a happy and healthy existence. Be grateful.
While the hours pass quickly and fun is in full gear. Take pause, look around you, long enough to understand that the life you have been given is a gift. Stay in the present, allow yourself to enjoy the things that are free and irreplaceable. Appreciate simplicity.
A certain amount of time is granted on earth. Live each moment to the fullest. The past is behind us, the present isn’t always bright but hope for a better future is possible.
My wish is that the love of Christmas and self-love provide you with the strength to keep pushing towards your goals.
Mi deseo para todas, es que el amor de las Navidades y hacia ti misma te de la fuerza para seguir adelante en todas tus metas.
Merry Christmas & Feliz Navidad to all the awakened women!

On December 19th The Weekly Trends hosted a “Meet the Awakened Woman” interview where asked questions about the AW platform, the business and its challenges, influences, entrepreneurship, and best practices.

The 3 Most Important Things to Do This Holiday Season
Beautifully decorated trees, incessant shopping for the perfect gifts, family and friends gathering for good food and drinks. Moments of joy and laughter while celebrating the yuletide. The holiday season is in full swing with end of a decade approaching.
Each year we look forward to the joyous celebrations of the season. This time around, I decided there should be more than the superficial. Significant changes this past year have cultivated unforeseen personal growth, leading me to understand what is truly important.
This year loved ones have passed while others moved on to different pastures disconnecting from my life in a similar, yet less final way. New connections have replaced those voids showing me it is never too late to welcome good people into our lives.
Being a mom is an amazing gift. As my offspring moves into adulthood and mother gets older over next few years, it’ becomes clearer that time does not stop. I am learning to cherish moments spent with loved ones, it is certainly making me more grateful.
As we take off from work to indulge in festivities, let’s take a pause. Be thankful for the real presents.
1. Stay Grateful: Keep the thought in the forefront, not only during the holiday but always.
2. Giving over Receiving : Giving can be more rewarding than receiving. It is also a great way to appreciate the season. Make an effort to give back in some manner, wherever possible. Our heart is fuller when good deeds are satisfied.
3. Plan at least one goal for next year that will improve life in some way.
Celebrate the moments, people and blessing during this magical season.
Happy Holidays New York or wherever you are – to you and your family.
