Tuesday, 5th November -- Gorgeous morning, I just know it, everything's going to come up roses today. I'm finishing up the first denouement for DEADLOCK -- BIG YEAH! then, of course, edit the crap out of it, but that's fun because you're always thinking of different ways to say things, make things happen, flip off in another direction, if necessary. So, I'm feeling a bit of excitement this morning.
The Kincade fire up north is contained now, but so many folk without homes. And here I was whining about no electricity -- there is always, always someone lots worst off than you. Isn't it strange though, when something happens to you, you become totally centered on yourself and how horrible it is. It'd be tough to be a saint, I think. I read that most saints became "saintly" after they'd led mainly foolish and sinful lives, then seen the light. No clue if this is true. No, I didn't read it on the Internet, that vast ocean of crazy information, I read it in a book, a far less vast ocean of crazy information.
Everyone, you got your bod up and running yesterday? Are you hyped and ready to push forward today? MOVING, always moving, that's the key. You don't move, you might as well hang it up. And if you don't, your body just might do it for you. Enough scare tactics. Think about how you look -- Fit? Strong? Healthy? Solid? Great posture? If you can't check all those off, then DO SOMETHING, beginning right this minute.

Friday, 1st of November -- Yipes! Some of you had a great Halloween, some didn't (weather, weather, weather).
WINNERS OF HALLOWEEN DECORATIONS CONTEST:
1) Beverly Kerestes
2) Susan DeJong
3) Lloyd Welch
Winners, please post your photos again so everyone can see them and send me your home addresses and which book you would like -- #1 winner gets two books. Congratulations
WEEK #9 NFL: Everyone get your picks up. So far, 1-0 since 49ers beat the Cardinals last night. But it was close. I'm really impressed with Kyler Murray. Saw an interview, up close, with Jimmy Garopallo (spelling is wrong, sorry) QB of the 49ers-- I gotta say, he is drop dead gorgeous, movie star gorgeous.
DEADLOCK: Nearly finished with the first denouement -- I'd wanted it done by today, but alas, no electricity for three days and that sure put a crimp in it.
Okay, guys, it's Friday and that means you want to finish off the week with a workout to sweat off your eyebrows. Get out there -- walk a couple of miles (do you have fitbits?) or run or hop on the treadmill or get aboard your bike, and GO. I'm serious now -- you all know how vital it is to keep yourself as fit as possible, prevents so much crap coming to hit you in the head. Do not procrastinate -- that's the killer, always think NOW! What did you think of the ab exercise I posted yesterday?

Thursday, 31 October -- Yep, it's here and I'm so glad we have electricity back so everyone can see the lit-up pumpkins in the kitchen window. And it's so nice not to have to heat water to bathe. What an adventure and you whine and feel sorry for yourself, then you think about all those folk up north who had to evacuate or lost their homes. And you realize how very fragile we all are, particularly now that we're so utterly dependent on technology. We take so many things for granted and ZAP -- from one moment to the next, all these things that make your life pleasant and easy, are simply gone. Heating up water (thank goodness I have gas and not electric) to bathe. Lessons learned. Please continue sending prayers west, the Kincade fire is still less than 15% contained. Several of you emailed me, worried, and I really do thank you for being so thoughtful. Now, moving forward:
WEEK #9 NFL selections:
l) Patriots over Ravens
2) Vikings over Chiefs (Mahommes is still out)
3) 49ers over Cardinals
4) Titans over Panthers
Get your picks up -- and we'll see --
Everyone, went to the gym yesterday and it was GREAT -- got those muscles all loosened up and warmed up, woke them up with some work -- lots of great stretching, nearly 50 minutes of cardio (bike).
Very non-violent ab exercise: lie on your back, one hand on your belly to feel your muscles, bend your knees.l Slowly lift one bent leg off the ground, maybe 4 inches, hold it, slowly lower, keeping abs tight -- so simple and it'll do you fine.
I simply don't have time to read all your doubtless wonderful comments, but will try to get to them this afternoon.
Yeah -- electricity!!!!

Tuesday, 1st October -- You guys did great on Week 4 -- if you didn't, hey, next week will be better. To feel better if you didn't do too well, watch the talking football heads -- they don't do so hot on their predictions.
Thank you for info about the Hudson River Valley -- really, can't wait to see the leaves, it's been way too long.
Yes, I will check in and bitch at you about exercise, never fear.
Today is tons of "crap" to get done before tomorrow -- early.
As for all of us, moi included, it's CARDIO, always, always, always. Tell me, who has a stationery bike at home? They're amazing, really. Women -- when you're standing in front of your bathroom mirror, brushing your teeth, make-up, hair -- SUCK IN YOUR BUTT AND YOUR GUT -- try to make this a habit. GUYs -- when you're shaving, brushing teeth, combing hair, do the same, SUCK IN BUTTS AND GUTS.

Friday, 27th September. Well, the "heart" won this round -- the Eagles beat the Packers -- an exciting and ultimately bizarre tipped interception or else a tie, then what? Who knows? Congratulations to all Eagles fans.
WEEK 4 PICS:
l) Patriots over Bills
2) Chiefs over Lions
3) Texans over Panthers
4) Raiders over Colts
POST YOUR PICKS! I'll post again tomorrow and Sunday morning
I heard Janice (a HUGE Eagles fan) was running around New Jersey wearing an Eagles flag and yelling like a berserker --
Glad you guys like the photo of a "Stoned" Peyton -- now, to be honest, I looked at those huge irises of his and asked him if he'd gotten into the cat nip, and he only grinned and fell asleep. Hmm.
About knee/hip surgery: Lenet says something really smart: "The stronger going in the stronger coming out" -- Wise words.
Work today, a really tough scene with a woman who knows lots of secrets. Hmmm, exactly how to handle it. We'll see.
End of week -- that means, you're going all out, guys. Yep, all out, that means 30 minutes cardio, get those legs moving fast, slow, and repeat. Also, leg lifts in bed tonight when you hang it up for the night -- feel those tightening abs or you're not doing it right --

Eric Clapton in concert at the new Chase Center. The Chase is gorgeous -- inside you think you're in a very modern, very cool airport with more food courts than you can imagine. It was nearly a full house, (about 20,000 folk). lots of noise, very loud sound which sort of smooshed the music together, so that wasn't wonderful. You spend most of the time looking at the TV's on either side of the stage, which was very basic. Oh yes, the restaurant was excellent.
Authors Luncheon here today -- this is going to be loads of fun and yes, I'll post a photo -- you already know everyone.
Hot here today (80 degrees, but it will go higher) -- so short sleeves and shaved legs in shorts (well, not for the authors)
Today is your walking day. You do not have to run, you do not have to bike, you do not have to treadmill -- BUT you're promising me you're going to WALK -- with a friend, a critter, a lover -- WALK, folk and always, SBB --

Wednesday, 11th September -- It's a beautiful day here, only one bummer and it's good-sized: FACEBOOK DIDN'T POST MY POST YESTERDAY -- I have no clue what's going on. Did anyone see it before it disappeared? Sigh.
This evening we're going with friends to the brand new Chase Center in San Francisco for an Eric Clapton concert. Dinner, first, I guess, and it'll be early. All digits crossed it will be phenomenal. The new Chase was built privately for the Warriors, but there are now a gazillion performers coming --
Today is work, like every other blessed day -- And that's good, I've been writing this scene in my mind. Now, it has to come out of my fingers.
When you're on your back, bringing in first one knee to your chest, count twelve, really pull in as close as you can, then other leg. It's important -- Don't let your shoulders meet your ears. Keep shoulders down. Now, can you left the opposite leg a bit off the floor while you bring the other knee to your chest?
And of course, the frosting on your exercise cake -- CARDIO.

WEEK #1: 2-2 Patriots and Vikings won, Giants and Bears lost -- One of you remarked every time you went for Giants, they lost. With you big time on that. Sorry, Eli, no more faith.
What a gorgeous day here in Sausalito. I believe the high will be 71 degrees, perfect. Two games tonight -- so, if you have a team playing, good luck.
I was very disappointed in the Browns -- They'll get better and kick big butt, I know it, I really do, I'm praying they will, hoping with all my might they'll win -- Come on, Mayfield, you can do it.
Work today -- and isn't that always the case? Now, for you hot-shots today, it's some very through stretching, try lying on your back and bringing each knee into your chest, hold. Then other knee. Then both knees -- hug them to your chest. Then stagger to your feet and hop on your bike for CARDIO

Beautiful Wednesday here -- got a wonderful birthday party tomorrow, so have to check out the carrot cake at the HCF -- I don't remember seeing it last time I was in. I hope they haven't stopped making it. Oh dear -- no, positive attitude.
Today, all of you stand tall and straight, place your fingertips on either side of your head, bring in your arms to touch your elbows, then stretched them back as far as you can and listen to the snap, crackle and pop from your back. Do this 15 times -- AFTER your cardio --

Friday, 30th August -- Well, this fine month has only toes in the door -- A lovely long month though, don't you think?
Football Season begins next week -- I'll be posting rules for our game.
Yea -- got the EVIL and Savich down pretty good -- gonna go over it again this morning, sharpen here, change there, always editing, always. But it's good. Made me sweat, that's for sure.
Many of you said you couldn't do the leg lifting exercise: the trick with any exercise is, if you can't do exactly the way it should be done, then you compromise and do the best you can -- Back against the wall (for balance), legs as close to the wall as you can, life right leg until perpendicular, then hold, slowly let down. this is for your quads. Can't hold it that high, then say 12 inches off the floor. No problem -- the whole point is to feel your quads, get them awake and yelling at you, okay?
Friday once again -- where did the fricking week go? Maybe to Tibet hiking, maybe picked up my missing Wednesday post along the way? Who's been to Tibet? And thought they'd die in the altitude?

Halloween's coming up fast, the day the zombies burst out of the ground and terrify the crap out of us, not to mention eat our candy and eat our brains.
Update on BOMBSHELL, the 17th FBI Thriller: I'm nearly finished with the edit. The cover is very cool, explodes with eye-popping color. BOMBSHELL is set in Maestro, Va., (the setting of the 10th FBI thriller, POINT BLANK) and in Washington.
JEWEL OF THE LION (first thriller in A Brit in the FBI series partnered with J.T. Ellison). JEWEL moves fast and you don't know what's going to happen on the next page, and you're biting your toenails or a zombie's toenails. J.T. is an excellent plotter and that means when we brainstorm no plot gets left behind.
Alas, no kids want candy enough to crawl up our oxygen-deprived steep driveway, and the sad thing is, I still have a big bowl of candy, every year, but no one comes, not even the zombies with brain bags.
Take care, Catherine
