January 16, 2020

Thursday, 16th January -- Welcome big beautiful chilly Thursday -- and yep, we're getting rain here, which is always welcome even though it's always a pain in the butt. Novella writing today -- and then stuff, always frigging stuff, it breeds in the corners, don't you find that to be true? You wake up, go about your business, and here comes STUFF slinking out of a corner in the living room. All right, I'll stop whining. It certainly isn't attractive.

PLAY-OFFS
Both play-off games are on Sunday afternoon, don't forget. Did you remember the Titans beat the Chiefs during the season? And the 49ers beat the Packers big time (I think it was something like 38-8) So, who are your picks? I have to go with the Chiefs and the 49ers. Step right up, make your pick!

If it's snowing, sleeting, raining buckets, too frigid outside and you have to stay indoors, no problem. If you have stairs, you'll use them, up and down 4 times -- (don't count your regular up and down) these are extra -- and suck in that stomach and SBB -- think about it as you walk up and down, nice straight back, chin NOT sticking out, bring it in. Then you want to get on the floor and do some knee or leg lifts, slow, feel the abs with one hand. Go to free weights or bands or isometrics against a wall -- No excuses, you hear me? If you're groaning with something and you feel crappy and can't get out of bed, the minions won't shoot canon at you, they'll let you get well first. No pressure.

January 15, 2020

Wednesday, 15th January -- Listen, I didn't fall down the stairs, grabbed the banister and caught myself (this was running downstairs to get my iPad to take a photo of the sunrise) -- all is good. Most of you get a flu shot, and some of you have really exciting stories -- like a heart stopping. Good grief!
Today I'm working on the 4th Grayson Sherbrooke otherworldly adventures novella. Now, think of a beautiful black stallion who wears a silver bridle, only it's wrapped around his neck, the bit isn't in his mouth. Remember Barnaby the barn cat? I think his parentage will come about in this one. No title yet --

Everyone, it's the very middle of January, it's probably frigid where you live if you haven't moved to warmer climes, so that means working out at home or going to the gym. The gym is always better -- you have to do stuff when you go to the gym. At home, it's too easy to get distracted. Who goes to the gym? Who has a bike at home? Inside or outside? Who rides every single frigging day unless it's snowing, sleeting, raining, in short, being really nasty?
Like I wrote yesterday, you don't move, you're going to be in trouble and believe me, the minions would do almost anything to keep you fit and well.
MOVE -- CARDIO --

January 14, 2020

Tuesday, 14th January -- Well, Clemson sure started out strong -- I really like the QB and that long hair and that long nose. He looks soft-spoken and a competitor to his toes -- anyone know him? LSU won -- and most of you went with them, including moi. Isn't it interesting both teams are Tigers?
Okay, upcoming this weekend -- Now, this ain't hard for me. Chiefs over Titans and 49ers over Packers. I'll post these again the end of the week.

Did everyone get their flu shot? Does everyone normally get a flu shot and never get the flu? The shots work for you? I'm asking because I get a flu shot every single year and I've yet to get the flu. So a big yes for me.

Today -- drum roll -- more Christmas decorations down -- it'll be another couple of weeks. Quite a production.

If the weather allows, get outside and walk, walk, walk -- all over the neighborhood, speak to neighbors, hey, even give your MIL a text, how about that? But you gotta move -- if you don't, bad things could happen and I don't want bad things to happen to any of you.

January 10, 2020

Friday, 10th January -- Listen to me now, do not put up with depression. Get the appropriate meds, taken them, and make your life yours again -- no hanging around feeling low with mental crap, TAKE CARE OF IT. Okay?

We're all ready for the playoffs this weekend -- good luck

Everyone is watching the Jeopardy Championships? These three guys are amazing (and scary) I mean, who knows 90% of this stuff? I love to watch Ken Jennings, he buzzes in, and trusts he'll come up with the answer, you can see his computer brain working, and he usually does. I sometimes know the answer, but it takes a while to call it up from the file in the back on my brain -- and sometimes the answer was kicked out by my overloaded RAM and I didn't get the memo. Sigh -- but it's such fun to watch.

NOW, BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: BOOK BUB: THE COVE is on sale (ebook only) for -- wait for this -- $1.99 now until 1-19-2020. All ebook vendors. So, if you haven't read it (actually, I'd be very disappointed if you haven't already read THE COVE -- but there's surely a friend you need to convert -- so here's your chance on the cheap - what a great birthday present.

FRIDAY -- the last day of the week which means this is the day you work your buns off. You always want to feel proud of yourself and virtuous at the end of a Friday. You cardio (interval training, fast, slow, fast, slow) if you're running, run hard, then walk, repeat. Same with bike, treadmill, whatever. Then you pick up those free weights and do your tris and bis -- like pulling through mud -- Hmm, mud, makes me think of the chocolate pudding I made yesterday and ruined.

January 8, 2020

Wednesday, 8th January -- Today's going to be fun --eating out and a bit of shopping -- what else could you ask? Celebrating finish of DEADLOCK and the new year at HCF, (yep, the avocado egg rolls and the small hamburger sliders -- with lots of dill pickles and Frenches mustard), doing "free" shopping, that is, gift certificates from Christmas. Sounds pretty fine, doesn't it?

NFL PLAY OFFS:

My picks are as follows:
l) 49ers over Vikings
2) Chiefs over Texans
3) Baltimore over Titans
4) Packers over Seahawks

Post your picks!!!! And yes, we'll do better this weekend -- no heart picks involved, only the statistical winners --
But you know, some upsets would be nice, say the Titans win.

How were your isometric bis and tris yesterday, pressing palm to the wall and holding? You liked? Today, get your arms naked in front of the bathroom mirror and do your arm rolls -- SLOWLY -- straight arms, of course -- do until your arms ache and you feel virtuous.

January 7, 2020

Tuesday, 7th January -- what a chilly, gorgeous day here in Sausalito -- Alas, this morning is the last time to see the tree all lit up -- the entire top floor decorations come down today.

Sending in DEADLOCK today to publisher. Since my editor is no longer at Simon & Schuster, (believe me, I miss her, she's an excellent editor) it should be interesting. I wonder if anyone will do anything. We'll see --

The gym is germ-ridden so it's Purell every three minutes, not touching anyone and wiping down machines before and after using. I don't have a cold yet -- digits crossed. Colds are the worst and the flu? Can't bear to think of that possibility.
So, when you're at the gym today, do everything I talked about above. Protect yourself!!!!! And wash your hands lots -- I have stock in Purell (well, not really, but I'll think about it.) Cardio -- 30 minutes, thirty seconds really fast (whatever you're doing) then cool down for thirty seconds, then up again -- "Interval training." Then I want you to press your palm against a wall (straight arm) and push, hold -- isometrics -- see what you think and report back to me.

Many of us fairly sucked on our picks this past weekend, but you know, there were lots of surprises. This weekend, we're all going to SHINE.

January 3, 2020

Friday, 3rd January -- Thank all of you -- only the last ten pages of DEADLOCK to edit, then out of here and to the publisher, one and a half month's EARLY. It's up for pre-order if any of you pre-order and the pub date is the end of July, as usual. So all is good in my household.
Thank all of you too for your advice -- I was going to go to the gym today, but my trainer is out with a cold, probably gave it to everyone else, so I'm sticking close to home and riding my bike as many miles as I can manage and free weights and ab floor exercises -- all of you should probably do the same thing -- the gym, really, is a bug house and you simply can't count on Purell. Do you always wipe down the machines? I don't, so it's home for me and tomorrow?????
Wild Card Play-Off games: Again,
Eagles, Patriots, Saints, Bills
Get your picks up.
Yes, right after breakfast I'm going to hit the last 10 pages upon which I will perform the final final final edit this morning -- no anesthesia --

January 2, 2020

Thursday, 2nd January -- Peyton sends his thanks to all of you who dutifully admired him, complimented him, called him a hunk (either you or your female cat). He is a happy camper. Eli had his own special mix but preferred to keep it close --

It's the second day of 2020 -- don't you find it's lots of fun to write 2020? Just flows off the fingers.

I hesitate to write this but here it is: I'm writing the very final chapter in DEADLOCK today!!!!! Yes, yes, yea, yea, champagne for another reason. Please keep digits crossed.

Worked out hard yesterday, am concerned about going tomorrow though -- everyone's sick at the gym, despite Purell every five minutes, I'm going to get it, so another reason to finish the book today -- As for exercise, all of you, stretch, nice and easy, but get those muscles warmed up and limber -- super important before you do any free weights for your bis and tris. Okay? And cardio -- always, cardio, lots of it to celebrate making it to 2020.

December 31, 2019

Tuesday, 31st December -- okay, who's going to have a wild and crazy New Year's Eve? Who's going to be a slug? (Like me, actually -- I don't want to see any more people for another full week after the HUGE gang in Florida) Who watches the ball fall in NYC then collapses in bed? All in all, though, it will be a splendid night -- ringing in 2020 -- write the year a few times, it's easy and very cool. 2020 -- amazing.
I'll post wildcard games later this week.
Everyone who's going to a party tonight, be sure to CARDIO today in preparation for goodies and champagne.
HAPPY NEW YEAR'S EVE --
