Thursday, 8th April -- Let me tell you about the man in Australia who was driving along in the country and saw a dead cow in the road, hit by a truck. Along side the road was a new-born baby calf. He took the calf home, named her Peanuts and raised her with his five dogs. Peanuts thinks she's a dog. They all go walking, swimming together. Peanuts sleeps with the other dogs, not with "dad", thankfully. She's now getting large, but it doesn't matter, she and the dogs all snuggle up together. I have photos, if I'm technologically able, I'll post them here so you can see. Isn't that a wonderful story? Wrings your withers, makes you know there's good in the world.
Glad you like the photo of Blackie -- an amazing horse. One of you wrote you bet he'd seen a whole lot in his long life. Don't know about that, but he was close to the Bay and could see S.F. all the time.
A lot of you said you'd really liked both THE TARGET and BACKFIRE -- about Judge Ramsey Hunt and Emma and Molly, and were pleased to see them again next year in RECKONING. Emma's now twelve. Will she still be Sean's third wife? We'll see.
Who helped out an older person get signed up for the vaccine? If you did, I award you special points with the minion of your choice. Just heard we'll have water rationing here, first time since 1988. Pray for rain, that'd be great, maybe enough voices and we'll get some.
SBB -- while you're walking and be sure to swing your arms for more upper body exercise --

Wednesday, 7th April -- Walk yesterday in Blackie's Pasture right on Richardson Bay, not fifty yards from the photo I posted yesterday of low tide. Blackie was a real live horse who lived there and he was fed and watered, and now, there's a statue to him there. It's quite lovely. I'll post it today. People came from far and wide to see Blackie, pet his nose, give him carrots.
It was chilly and very windy yesterday, which means you had to walk fast or you'd freeze. Yep, walked fast.
Work today, as always. RECKONING is coming right along. Who read THE TARGET and BACKFIRE -- The Hunt family from San Francisco? Well, they're back in a smaller plot in this book.
If you don't have your shots yet, ARE YOU SIGNED UP? DO YOU CHECK EVERYDAY? Now, do you have anyone in your neighborhood, say a much older neighborhood who wouldn't have a clue how to sign up on a computer? Then you need to handle it for them. If everyone took care of one older person, then all would be excellent -- so spread this around --
Outside and move around, maybe find some low tide and shell hunt or photograph sea birds. All is wonderful, even if there might be a bit of snow clogging your life -- overcome, bundle up and go for a lovely long walk.

Monday, 5th April -- Congratulations to Stanford --
I've heard so many menus for Easter -- incredible. I'm such a lazy slug. Since there's no family on the west coast, Pizza was King for yesterday -- and quite tasty too -- just not to die-for meals you guys made. Then a lovely walk around a big park in Corte Madera (Just north of us, about 5 miles) and then basketball.
Work today -- yeah, I know, big surprise -- the new book is coming along nicely. I've set the title and guess what? It's one of yours!!! THANK YOU, DEBORAH ROSS FOR RECKONING. Yep, and Reckoning fits the book beautifully. Deborah, please email me at ReadMoi@gmail.com with your home address and the title of a book you would like. Also, I'll be sending you a copy hot off the press of Reckoning when I get it, probably in July --
Outside and walk, guys, take photos, talk to people, pet dogs, and enjoy yourself immensely. If it's snowing, well, then, it's the stairs for you, about a dozen times, up and down -- and no one forget SBB --

Sunday, 4th April -- Happy Easter to everyone -- who's able to eat with family this year, that is, everyone is vaccinated so you can be together again in a much larger bubble? Kids look for Easter eggs? Were some of the eggs chocolate?
Quiet day here, and a blessed day, talking to all family on the east coast and down in L.A. --
The men's games yesterday -- they're tougher, more physical, it seemed to me, than the NBA -- I mean so many fouls called and so many fouls not called. Well, fouls is too tame a word, really.
The Gonzaga game with UCLA was exciting, right to the end. I had no idea Gonzaga was in Spokane, Washington. I thought a lot of their players could be in the NBA right now, they were talented and tough to the bone.
Everyone, what's for Easter dinner?

Friday, 2nd April -- What to do on a gorgeous Friday when the air smells fresh and you breathe in the sweet smells of spring? I'm thinking work -- oh yeah, you're saying, you never do that! -- but then, this afternoon, something really cool. I'm going sailing. It's supposed to be in the lower seventies, perfect -- wear 4 layers and get out there and tack and heel six inches above the water and watch the Golden Gate pass over your head, maybe a humongous cargo ship comes close enough to scare the crap out of you and you wave madly and they wave back. Oh yes, this is going to be great -- the perfect way to celebrate the day after April Fool's Day.
Who out there can match/beat that? Come on, guys, it's April, Spring has sprung, time to hoot and holler and get out there and do something wild and wonderful. And I want photos!

Thursday, April 1st -- Did my first April Fool's -- Good grief, what's that on your shirt? All right, sort of lame, but it's a start. I have others in the house I can torture. See that you give it a try too and let me know reactions.
Supposed to be 75 here again today -- we'll see if it makes it. Beautiful sunny weather, walking weather. I'll tell you, the photo of the Golden Gate also showing the harbor and the break wall, it's hard to stay away from there -- we'll see today.
SBB folk -- don't forget on stairs, get that muscle memory -- also when you walk, nice and straight, keep aligned, okay? -I challenge all of you to get me a photo from your walk today that's SUPERB. Of you? Why not? Be on the lookout though, you never know what will strike you as being "Wow! That's the photo!"

Wednesday, 31st March -- Last day, then WHAM -- you strike, maybe subtly, with a neat April Fool's prank -- I'm trying to think small, but effective, get a real laugh --
It's going to be 75 degrees here today, mighty sunny and gorgeous, and do you know what, I don't mean to whine, but hey, 75 is a bit on the warm side for me. It didn't make it to 80 yesterday, thank all the blessed weather minions. I only had to make one phone call, beg a little bit, promise some brownies, and the weather minions kept the temp a bit below seventy. Do I have good friends or what? Well, okay, good brownies, with lots of pecans. Goodness, now my thighs are pulsing. Anyone had brownies lately?
A gorgeous walk yesterday, again down at the Bay, basking in the incredible beauty and yep, I have a gorgeous photo I'll post showing both the harbor and the bay -- very unusual.
Everyone, GET OUTSIDE -- wawk, prance, strut, stop everyone you see and ask for ideas about an April Fool's prank.

Tuesday, 30th March -- I'm still thinking of funny, not particularly cruel, little things I can do on April Fool's Day. GIVE ME YOUR IDEAS -- I know that are a lot of wonderful insane minds out there, so come on, cough them up --
Turns out I'm sending back 103 pages of the "first pass" pages of VORTEX to be corrected -- this is not unusual at all, lots of crappy little things, not their errors, but little improvements I can make. And some requests to change formatting. All done now, waiting for second pass.
Today, sunny with a high of -- WAIT FOR THIS -- 80 degrees! Here in Sausalito -- I'm pulling out the shorts -- for me, this is a tad on the too warm side. How about you?
Everyone outside -- draw in a deep breath, SBB, big smile of thanksgiving on your face , and head out -- how about 1 mile today?

Monday, 29th March -- Nearly to April Fool's Day -- do you guys do little random acts mild torture to those nearest and dearest to you? I keep forgetting myself, but not this year. Boy, have I got plans.
So tell me the stores you've been in that don't have dressing rooms open --
Work today -- I bet you could have guessed that right out of the gate. I'm nearly done with the first pass pages for VORTEX -- there are "galleys" -- I go through the printed pages searching out typos, or little crap I now think is stupid and remove it, things like that -- Of course there are real proof readers who'll go over it -- in all about 6 different people review the book for errors before it still goes to the printer. And do you know what? There'll still be errors -- it's amazing, I'm convinced one error gets in the manuscript and breeds. Ah, we'll see.
Do you know what? I'm really liking VORTEX -- I sure hope you guys will too --
Today we have a high of 68 degrees and it's full-on sun and that means a lovely walk -- Where to? We'll see. Where will you guys walk/hike today? Don't forget to snap a couple of photos and put one on here. SBB!
If you're having your vaccine today -- YEA!!!

Sunday, 28th March -- Amazing outside, not too chilly and beautiful sun shining down, which begs for everyone (If you're not snowed in) to go outside and walk and hike and shop (YEA!) -- many of you said dressing rooms weren't open. That's a huge bummer. Since I've only been in J. Jill -- yesterday and HUGE YEA -- yeah, yeah, I already said that -- and their dressing rooms were open. You sanitized your hands going in and coming out and they sanitized after you left the dressing room. No one took the clothes you'd selected from you, you carried them, no big deal. Tell me the stores that do have dressing rooms open. And those that don't so I can avoid them.
We've had enough rain so the Marin Headlands are nice and green, not Irish green, that only happens maybe every three-four years when we get TONS of rain -- you can see from the photo how lovely they are right now. Going to walk down by the GG, see what's cooking.
Everyone, out and about today, shop, walk, take photos for me, and speak to perfect strangers, compliment their critters, their caps, their sneakers -- smile really big, you'll be irresistible.

Halloween's coming up fast, the day the zombies burst out of the ground and terrify the crap out of us, not to mention eat our candy and eat our brains.
Update on BOMBSHELL, the 17th FBI Thriller: I'm nearly finished with the edit. The cover is very cool, explodes with eye-popping color. BOMBSHELL is set in Maestro, Va., (the setting of the 10th FBI thriller, POINT BLANK) and in Washington.
JEWEL OF THE LION (first thriller in A Brit in the FBI series partnered with J.T. Ellison). JEWEL moves fast and you don't know what's going to happen on the next page, and you're biting your toenails or a zombie's toenails. J.T. is an excellent plotter and that means when we brainstorm no plot gets left behind.
Alas, no kids want candy enough to crawl up our oxygen-deprived steep driveway, and the sad thing is, I still have a big bowl of candy, every year, but no one comes, not even the zombies with brain bags.
Take care, Catherine
