Wednesday, 11th August -- Good news out of the gate for VORTEX -- very high up with Amazon sales for the first day -- but who knows? If you want to wear a sandwich-board, you could advertise VORTEX and maybe stroll around downtown. Two-sided, of course. What do you think?
I'm running late this morning -- no, I won't tell you why -- it's always "stuff", right? I'll be getting back to all your always fun comments later today.
After the hike of the week --always a huge hike on Wednesdays. Why? No clue. You know how some things just happen and you can never remember how and why and exactly when? Come outside with me, in spirit, and we can sing a duet.

Tuesday, 10th August -- IT'S HERE -- VORTEX. If you pre-ordered, it should be in your mailbox jumping about waiting for you to embrace it with great enthusiasm. If it's an ebook, ZAP, like magic, it appeared at midnight last night. Those of you who did not pre-order, no problem, head to your favorite bookstore and it'll hop into your arms.
The Indies will mail it to you if you wish. Barnes & Noble have autographed copies.
So, the how is the book world this morning? All is super fine, for all of us.
I'm a dolt -- I forgot to tell you I was on a Zoom interview with Poison Pen Bookstore. It was loads of fun, great to see owner and interviewer Barbara Peters again. She knows ever single writer in the known universe and you know she could really dish the dirt, but alas I guess you'd have to get her drunk, and that's not possible on Zoom. I ask you, when will technology get there with the margaritas?
Outside today -- you can get some exercise by dancing all the way to the book store. Me? I'm doing another zoom -- maybe. I'll post if it will happen, otherwise I'll tell you where to find the podcast.

Friday, 6th August -- End of the week and all is good in Sausalito-land. . I'll be posting more photos of Baker Beach. It's not the spun white gorgeous beach sand you see some places, like in Carmel, but it's not as dark as Rodeo Beach. Looking up at the back of the big houses in Sea Cliff (remember Judge Ramsey Hunt -- The Target and Backfire lives there) you're seeing very different presentations than the front where it's all fancy and stylish -- pretty plan, many beat up by the constant wind off the ocean/Bay -- and all have stairs down to the beach.
Today, doing some editing on RECKONING -- I changed an element and have to go through the manuscript so there won't be any inconsistencies.
Whatever you're doing today, be sure to look up every once and think about yourself in the world, in this incredible life, and smile and be thankful. Really important? Hit a trail this afternoon and walk your tootsies off --

Thursday, 5th August -- So many of you liked, in particular, the yellow roses (posted on my FB page), said they are your favorite. Same here. When a new book comes out, my publisher always sends yellow roses. They make you happy, right, just looking at them, you forget all the crap and you smile.
Went to Baker Beach yesterday -- yep, it was about 65 degrees -- but there was sun and lots of people. I'll post a photo for you showing the beach and the Golden Gate -- And no, Baker Beach was never a nude beach. I don't think S. F. ever had one of those.
A few sprinkles this morning, makes the plants open right up --at least it's enough to get the dust off the leaves.
Everyone, it's outside today, running, skipping, hiking, walking slowly, doesn't matter. Be happy --

Wednesday, 4th August -- In the photo with the ship leaving the Bay with the Marin Headlands in the background -- I said the Golden Gate was on the LEFT -- I meant the other left, as in the right -- sorry for the mental collapse.
Talk about a cold summer here locally -- every day is in the sixties, no kidding. the nights in the fifties, which I think is grand, lots of covers and snuggling in with Eli, who, actually, likes to be on top of the covers. Everyone is looking forward to winter when it'll warm up some.
Simone Biles did just fine -- and that was good to see. Plus the two women in hurdles -- their names escape me at the moment -- took gold and silver.
I find it fascinating the Chinese men and women are the divers of the world -- talk about flawless.
Everyone is being good this week, I can feel it in the chilly air and the wind chop off the Bay -- yep, you're focused on your fitness, working on your abs and tris and bis and walking regularly. How many days a week?
I'll think about you guys when I'm out on the cliffs with the cold wind off the ocean in my face and wearing my four layers. Best is the hoodie. Plus sunglasses, I look like the unabomber.

Tuesday, 3rd August -- I haven't seen Biles's performance on the beam yet -- but a bronze is excellent, it's very good she competed. As for Jade, after her huge flub it was great to see her pull off the floor -- from the pits to heaven -- what a swing for her.

What is your favorite event or events? Are you watching quite a few?
My friends in Australia are ecstatic over all the medals they've won -- Ari Titmus is now a national heroine.
As for Hungary, they've done brilliantly as well -- imagine only 10 million people in the entire country.
Glad you like the photo of Tennessee Point -- this one is much better. Have I got some great photos for you coming up. north of the Golden Gate, never been on those trails -- amazing -- and the views of the beaches and back to the Marin Headlands -- well, you'll see.
Masks up, everyone, bummer, but the Delta variant is nasty. It's already lessening in England and we're a couple weeks before them, so it would be finishing up its tour here soon. Hang in there!

Sunday, 1st August -- Hello, August! Beautiful day forecasted here in the Sausalito area -- a high of 68 degrees, with lots of sun, so hiking here and there will be fantastic. I think we're going to Golden Gate Park -- haven't walked in there at all, so it's time to search out the buffalo, visit the flower conservatory --
The Olympics are GREAT -- Isn't Caeleb Dressel amazing? And do you know, he seems like a really nice guy, but I do wonder at the strange spelling of his first name. Hmm. Do any of you know another Caleb with this spelling with the added "e"?
Now we'll see about track and field --
Is everyone seeing at least some of the events? They said the beach volleyball players were on "dry" sand that was 120 degrees -- with bare feet. And yes, they wet down the sand, but still -- yikes!
Everyone, it's not only the first day of August, but Sunday and that means maybe church, a very nifty barbeque in the back yard with friends and neighbors (You know, the non-obnoxious ones). Whatever you do, have a blast.

Saturday, 31st July -- Nearly time to say good bye to this chilly July, never to be seen again. A high of 68 degrees today, but we've got sun so walking around is very nice. Yes, The Cantina for lunch, thighs are begging for a taco, maybe first some nachos with guacamole and WARM tortilla chips. I've never understood why every single Mexican restaurant doesn't keep the chips warm, makes a big difference, don't you agree?
Worked hard yesterday, today will be simply for fun. How about you guys? Of course fun ALWAYS includes walking/hiking. Agree? If by any chance you don't agree, I might have to call the exercise minions to straighten out your thinking.
All of you, think about how it's high summer, all is good, you're looking forward to enjoying this marvelous day.

Friday, 30th July -- Goodness, that gymnast from Brazil -- she was amazing. What would have happened if her foot hadn't stepped out of bound on the floor exercise?
Caeleb Dressel -- I think his shoulders are as wide as my doorways. That's a lot of body to shave. I wonder how often the male swimmers shave themselves?
It's a gorgeous Friday, in the 60's here, like all summer, but that means wonderful walking weather, particularly with the sun shining. And you know, after you walk awhile, off with a layer. As for the rest of you, I know you're roasting, particularly in Oregon, and that's unexpected, but wearing a ball cap, shorts and a top with no sleeves to hike would be wonderful --
Since this is Friday, make a nice push to walk maybe an extra half mile, get that heart rate up, make it gallop, and you'll feel so virtuous, so amazing and awesome, you'll want to marry yourself!

Thursday, 29th July -- Suni Lee won gold! That is excellent -- can't wait to see her perform. She was evidently always number 2 to Simone's number 1 --
Today is, like always, work, then stuff -- you know stuff -- it's always hanging around, always nibbling on your consciousness, always nagging -- Yep, I'm taking care of all that STUFF this afternoon before I treat myself to a walk through Golden Gate Park -- I hope the buffalo are in their full glory -- an amazing place, haven't been there in a long time.
Everyone, it's a lovely work day and maybe too a STUFF day -- Onward with chin up and a big smile and when you walk this afternoon or whenever, speak to people, yep, engage them. I've never said hi to someone on the trail who didn't want to speak a bit.
