HANA also revealed she will be releasing her self-titled debut EP worldwide on March 25th. The collection of songs will feature previously unheard tracks from the young artist (co-produced by her long time collaboratorBloodPop), as well as her stunning debut single and fan favorite “Clay.”
Described by Lorde as "too beautiful and sparkling for words,” “Clay” – which has already amassed more than a million combined streams online – is available to download now on iTunes as part of a preorder package, and onSpotify.
Having spent years on the road in North America, perfecting her craft as a song-writer and performer, traveling state-to-state year-round, it was in 2013 that HANA decided to take a break and re-assess her life on the road as a solo artist. Having sold her tour van, she moved into an old warehouse in downtown LA and began to write and record new music. It was during this period of isolation and reflection that she was able to fully execute her vision musically, thus creating these stunning new tracks that have since gotten everyone intrigued and talking aboutHANA.
Since entering the musical arena late last year, HANA has toured North America with Purity Ring and Shamir,and is currently on the road supporting Canadian trailblazer Grimes on her world tour, as well as working on her debut album.

Rexy had this to say about the New Zealand artist's version of their track; "Running out of time is about surveillance and paranoia, although written in a time long before computer surveillance. We are delighted that Connan covered this track, we're big fans of his and thrilled with the results."
Samantha Urbani adds: "I've been a long time fan of Connan - his records, live shows, and as a person in general. When I heard through the grapevine that he was also a huge Rexy fan, it made perfect sense... What I love about his music has lots of ties to what I love about Rexy. His cover of [Running Out Of Time] is perfect. Enjoy."

Originally released in 1981 and long since out of print, the LP has become a coveted find for fans of leftfield pop, and through the rewards of its wry, forward-looking songcraft, has been championed by the likes of current artists such as Ariel Pink, Joey Negro, Connan Mockasin and MGMT. Upon the formation of URU, Urbani knew re-releasing the Rexy album was her first priority. She and Lucky Number spent months trying to track Rexy down on Facebook; when they finally did, they learned the band hadn't kept in touch nor seen each other for 30 years. The proposal to re-release their album sparked their interest in making music together again. Whether this reunion will produce any new recordings or shows is anyone's guess, but until then, Running Out of Time is ready to be justly re-categorized by a new generation of listeners from being a pop oddity to being an absolute classic.

Known for his unique fusion of blues, soul, roots and rock music, on The Last Days of Oakland frontman and songwriter Xavier Dphrepaulezz tackles the socioeconomic, race and class issues he witnesses on a daily basis living in the East Bay. “Something has happened,” observes Dphrepaulezz. “We are in a new phase. An era has definitely ended and I can feel it in every major city I toured in the States. Black folks have moved out of the city in large numbers. The cities have become almost impossible to live in due to skyrocketing rent and high costs of living.” He also notes, “I feel the end of something always means the beginning of something new. I like my chances and I like yours in The Last Days of Oakland. It’s really up to us collectively if we choose.”
The winner of NPR’s inaugural Tiny Desk Concert Contest, Fantastic Negrito quickly won over critics with 2015’s self-titled EP. Consequence of Sound wrote of the record “Dphrepaulezz sings like a man compelled by a spiritual force…[his] voice is impassioned, somewhere between a croon and a scream,” and theWashington Post praised the EP’s “raw vocals and self-assessing lyrics.” The San Francisco Chroniclenoted that “almost overnight, the singer-songwriter became an international sensation.”
Dphrepaulezz hailed from an orthodox Muslim household as a child. After relocating from rural Massachusetts to Oakland as a teenager in the 1980s, he quickly moved from strict religion to the music of Funkadelic; by the age of 20 he taught himself to play just about every instrument he came across, and in the `90s, he signed a multi-million dollar deal with Interscope Records performing under his first name Xavier. Dphrepaulezz’s life changed drastically when he was involved in a near death car accident resulting in a three-week coma, followed by intensive physical rehabilitation with his guitar playing hand permanently incapacitated. After a five-year hiatus, Dphrepaulezz created Fantastic Negrito. Inspired by all American music, most especially Delta bluesmen such as R.L Burnside and Skip James, he sought to modernize his compositions by sampling and looping his own live recordings. He told NPR that the name is “a celebration of blackness. The ‘Fantastic’ is self-explanatory; the ‘Negrito’ is a way to open blackness up to everyone, making it playful and international.”

We’re excited to announce a ltd edition 12 inch EP, featuring 5 covers of tracks from John Foxx’s Metamatic album by contemporary artists much admired by the artist himself. Wrangler (with lead vocals by Cabaret Voltaire's Stephen Mallinder) and Gazelle Twin team up for a new version of ‘He’s A Liquid’, giving the surreal atmosphere of the original a sinister, darker edge. Hannah Peel explores the psychedelic possibilities of ‘Tidal Wave’ with voice, electronics and music box, while LoneLady strips back ‘030’ to a starkly beautiful vision of ‘sunlit concrete’ built around voice, beats, guitar and cello. Side Two opens with the laser beam focus of The Soft Moon’s ‘No-One Driving’ – stomping mechanical beats, guitars and keyboards as intense as flickering strobes. The EP ends with another one of John Foxx’s favourite bands, Xeno & Oaklander, who create a ferocious analogue take on the title-track, complete with vocals by Liz Wendelbo which are part European art movie/part B-movie psychedelic horror flick. LONELADY: ‘I live in a high-rise right next to a dual carriageway, so John Foxx’s music makes a lot of sense to me. I find his dystopias exciting and at times full of longing and romance. At first merely functional, the surfaces of the city become exotic, seductive.’ XENO & OAKLANDER: ‘Metamatic is so fundamental as an influence on so much – from synthpop, New Romantic, industrial dance, EBM, et al – its consequences are far reaching and still being felt.’ THE SOFT MOON: ‘No-One Driving is my favourite John Foxx track. It has everything I love in a song. From an emotional standpoint it’s dark, moody and yet somehow optimistic. From a musical standpoint it’s beautifully structured with melodic verses, a catchy chorus and I would still like to get that arpeggiated phaser synth sound.’

The series will feature specially recorded in-depth interviews with Tennant and Lowe, plus contributions from key collaborators, commentators and admirers. Part One will be narrated by Graham Norton and will focus on the Please, Actually, Introspective,Behaviour, Very and Bilingual album eras. The second part, airing the following evening, will be devoted to Nightlife, Release, Fundamental, Yes and Elysium. The third and fourth parts of the series will be broadcast the following week and focus on PSB’s many creative collaborations and finally on the creation of their new album, Super.
Pet Shop Boys recently announced that they will play a residency of four nights at the Royal Opera House in London on July, 20, 21, 22, 23. All nights are sold out. Entitled “Inner Sanctum,” the site-specific concert series will be staged by longtime PSB designer Es Devlin and choreographer Lynne Page. The band notes, “It was fantastic to be back in the studio with Stuart Price continuing from where we left off with Electric and we’re thrilled with the results. It’s also very exciting to take electronic music into the Royal Opera House—such a grand and beautiful venue. These will be four very special nights for us and our only UK concerts this year. Produced and mixed by Price in Los Angeles, the album was written in London and Berlin. The record features twelve new Tennant/Lowe compositions evoking the London club scene of the early 90s. DETOUR showcases Lauper’s unmistakable voice on country classics from the ‘40s, ‘50s and ‘60s and features guest appearances from county music stars Vince Gill, Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss, and Willie Nelson. Lauper recorded the album in Nashville alongside a band comprised of the city’s top session players.
The album is Lauper’s first for Sire Records and is executive produced by legendary Sire founder, Seymour Stein. DETOUR will be available May 6 on CD ($18.98), LP ($24.98), and digitally.
Lauper says recording a country album is something she’s dreamed about for many years. Growing up, she recalls listening to singers like Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, and Wanda Jackson in her Aunt Gracie’s kitchen. “When I was a really young kid, country music was pop music, so this is what we grew up listening to. These songs are part of some of my earliest memories so it has been an absolute thrill to revisit them.”
Lauper sounds right at home from the start, beginning with the album opener, “Funnel Of Love,” a track Wanda Jackson, the Queen of Rockabilly, recorded in 1960. Another highlight is the rollicking take on “Heartaches By The Number,” a country standard previously covered by everyone from George Jones to Waylon Jennings to Dwight Yoakum. DETOUR also features stunning covers of two classic Pasty Cline songs, “Walkin’ After Midnight” and her #1 smash, “I Fall To Pieces.” Lauper says, “I spent a lot of time in my room singing with Patsy. I had to sing a Patsy Cline song – or two – because her voice was like one of my girlfriends. That’s how close I felt to her.”
For the album, Lauper duets with several special guests, including country music royalty: Emmylou Harris (on the title track), Willie Nelson (“Night Life,” a song he wrote over 50 years ago), Vince Gill (Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty’s “You’re The Reason Our Kids Are Ugly”) and Alison Krauss (Dolly Parton’s “Hard Candy Christmas.” Jewel also makes an appearance on DETOUR, showcasing her prodigious yodeling skills on “I Want To Be A Cowboy’s Sweetheart,” which was the first country song by a woman to sell one million copies.

For the album, Lauper duets with several special guests, including country music royalty: Emmylou Harris (on the title track), Willie Nelson (“Night Life,” a song he wrote over 50 years ago), Vince Gill (Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty’s “You’re The Reason Our Kids Are Ugly”) and Alison Krauss (Dolly Parton’s “Hard Candy Christmas.” Jewel also makes an appearance on DETOUR, showcasing her prodigious yodeling skills on “I Want To Be A Cowboy’s Sweetheart,” which was the first country song by a woman to sell one million copies.

Montreal-based electronic duo Essaie pas have unveiled the full stream of their upcoming debut Demain est une autre nuit (Tomorrow Is Another Night) on DFA Records with FADER who've called it "dark" and "thrilling".
Essaie pas is Marie Davidson and Pierre Guerineau. Both are respected musicians in their own right - Marie having released two acclaimed solo records, with Pierre being best known for production work on underground Canadian musicians such as Dirty Beaches and Femminielli.
Their music cannot be tied to a specific genre. It is a document of the encounter of two human beings mutually experimenting with music and sounds, and eventually falling in love while doing so. Their musical language is vibrant and varied - comparisons range from Film Soundtracks, Electronic Body Music, Disco, and Techno, with sensually-delivered lyrics exploring the themes of fantasies, obsessions, and the feeling of "The Void".

Throughout his career, Doe has garnered worldwide acclaim: NPR Music describes his work as “one of the warmest, most welcome voices in pop music. There’s a beseeching quality to his singing that draws you in with curiosity,” while American Songwriter praises, “…a winning platter of ‘60s inspired rock with a singer-songwriter twist.” Doe calls The Westerner his “psychedelic soul record from the Arizona desert.”
The official music video for the new song “Get On Board” is premiering today on NPR Music who explains, “…colored with plenty of rock ‘n’ roll grit and reverb, Doe exhorts us to partake of a journey that’s both urgent and unavoidable, without getting too specific about the destination.” Watch here: http://n.pr/1U5DiDb.
The album features ten new tracks from Doe with guest appearances from Chan Marshall of Cat Power, Debbie Harry of Blondie, Cindy Wasserman of Dead Rock West and Tom Brosseau. The Westerner was produced by Howe Gelb (Neko Case, M. Ward), Dave Way(Fiona Apple) and Doe. The album’s artwork was designed by Shepard Fairey and Aaron Hueyto support Native American rights via a campaign called Protect The Sacred, with additional photography by Jim Herrington.
Of the record Doe says, “The Westerner is dedicated to Michael Blake, author of many books, including Dancing With Wolves, who was a scholar and advocate for Native American rights. He was also one of my best friends for over 30 years. Michael taught me how to ride horses (we knocked each other off them several times) and we taught each other about writing, music and art. Many of these songs are about him or use him as the main character. His presence has been with me throughout the making of the record. It’s a wild, spread-out, desert-like life that we’ve lived.”
Doe’s first book, Under the Big Black Sun: A Personal History of L.A. Punk , will be published on May 1 by Da Capo Press. The audio book will be simultaneously released via Penguin Random House. The book explores the Los Angeles punk rock movement and its evolution to hardcore punk from 1977-1982, sharing chapter-length tales from the author along with personal essays from players in the scene. The book is written by Doe with the help of Tom DeSavia. Other contributors include twelve notable members of punk bands of the era. The single –premiered via SPIN Magazine -- is the second track to be revealed from their highly anticipated forthcoming EP “Empire Underground,” out worldwide on March 4th (B3SCI Records). “Empire Underground” EP features special guest contributors Andrew Wyatt and Dave Mccraken (producer of Ian brown), was mixed by the legendary Alan Moulder and is the perfect follow-up release to the band’s critically acclaimed full-lengths “A Brief History of Love” and “Future This,” both of which reached Top 10 status in the U.S Billboard Heatseekers and Tastemakers Album Charts. The band will also perform at this year’s Maverick Festival on April 9th in San Antonio, TX. Fans who attend the headline shows will be in for a special evening, as The Church will perform two full sets. The first will feature The Church’s classic second album – The Blurred Crusade being performed in its entirety. The second set will consist of selections from the band’s most recent album Further/Deeper along with other classic tracks. The Church are touring in support of their 25th studio album:
