MAGDALENA BAY UNVEILSNEW TRACKS “HUMAN HAPPENS” AND “PAINT ME A PICTURE” TOUR CONTINUES WITH IMAGINAL DISK FILM IMMINENTPress photo, credit Amalia IronsOctober 17, 2025—After sharing a pair of songs last month, Magdalena Bay unveils two more new tracks today: “Human Happens” and “Paint Me a Picture.” Listen  HERE . “Here’s another pair of songs that complement each other,” says the band. “Different than the last, different than the next.”This release follows “Second Sleep”––which debuted with an  official video  directed by Amalia Irons––and “Star Eyes,” together serving as a spiritual successor to  Imaginal Disk . The double single marked the band’s first new music since their universally acclaimed sophomore LP, and has garnered glowing praise from Stereogum, Pitchfork and The Fader, among others. The sold-out Imaginal Mystery Tour has taken the band to Portola Music Festival and Austin City Limits, two massive dates at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Forever Cemetery and a slew of venues across the Pacific Northwest and South. Tei Shi and nusar3000 share "Montón" [Remix], currently on North American tour

TEI SHI & NUSAR3000 SHARE “MONTÓN” [REMIX]

CURRENTLY ON NORTH AMERICAN TOUR; TIX HERE

NEW ALBUM MAKE BELIEVE I MAKE BELIEVE OUT NOW !

Following the release of her acclaimed fourth album Make believe I make believe, Canadian-Colombian pop auteur Tei Shi shares a hypnotic new remix of her bilingual standout “Montón” by Spanish experimental producer nusar3000. Where the original captured the sweetness of lust and surrendering to love, the remix transforms that longing into movement, resulting in a bass-heavy, late-night meditation built on sub-bass, metallic percussion, and vaporous harmonies; reframing love through the pulse of the underground.

Tei Shi shares, “When I tried to imagine how I'd wanna hear Montón remixed, I was transported to a DJ set I saw Nusar3000 do. I knew he would do something super fresh with the track and I'm so glad he was down. I really love what he did with it, somehow bringing out the sweetness of the song while also making it more drrrty and cranking the energy.”

Written during a one-week creative retreat on Vancouver Island with longtime collaborators Noah Beresin and Tommy English, Make believe I make believe marked Tei Shi’s most liberated work to date,  weaving English and Spanish through dream-pop, dembow, acoustic folk, and left-field electronics. The album includes standout singles like the defiant “Drop Dead,” the introspective “Best Be Leaving,” and the perreo-ready “222” featuring Loyal Lobos. Together, they trace Tei Shi’s continued evolution as an independent, self-directed artist unbound by genre or expectation.

With the remix’s release, Tei Shi continues to expand the world of Make believe I make believe as she brings the project to life on her headline tour. The North American run resumes October 20th in Philadelphia, with stops in Washington, D.C., Cleveland, New York, Toronto, Chicago, Mexico City, Vancouver, San Francisco, and Seattle, before wrapping November 23rd in Portland. She’ll then head overseas for a UK and European tour in February 2026, including dates in London, Paris, Berlin, and Barcelona. Listen to the “Montón” remix below and catch Tei Shi live this Fall !

Listen/share the track HERE.“We are wishing Chuck Berry a Happy Birthday with the ultra-collaborative version of ‘Maybellene,’” says June. “Berry’s music is the pulse of American music from rock and roll to soul, blues and country. Our version of the song even brings in a gospel choir. With music as a truly universal language, almost 100 years later, this song is our way of rejoicing together on the highways and byways of sound. What a joy to give him his flowers!”Coinciding with the release, Chuck Berry’s Birthday Bash will take place this FridayOctober 17 and SaturdayOctober 18 at Powell Hall in St. Louis, presented in collaboration with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. Growing up, I got to know him as young kid while I tagged along with my father, a floor covering man who carpeted his properties. He was a storyteller who strapped a motor to sentences. His influence is ingrained, like Mozart and Beethoven, into the fabric of culture and music forever.”The forthcoming tribute album will feature contributions from some of today’s most influential artists in Country, Indie Rock and Americana, with more to be announced.Valerie June appears courtesy of Fantasy Records/Concord Music GroupABOUT CHUCK BERRYChuck Berry didn’t just shape rock music; he shaped culture. Celebrated music icon Chrissie Hynde has released her new album today as Chrissie Hynde & Pals. Duets Special is out today digitally as well as on black vinyl LP and CD via Rhino. The album consists of 13 extraordinary duets featuring a host of world-class collaborators, including k.d. lang, the late Mark Lanegan, Dave Gahan, Cat Power, Rufus Wainwright, Brandon Flowers, Debbie Harry, Shirley Manson, Alan Sparhawk, and more.

PURCHASE/STREAM DUETS SPECIAL

The artists who perform with Hynde on Duets Special celebrate 13 uniquely distinct voices through stripped-down, intimate arrangements and minimal, refined instrumentation. The theme connecting all of the songs is simply great melodies.

Duets Special isn't just Chrissie Hynde's fourth studio album under her own name. The new record presents an exciting and unexpected left turn amidst one of the most creative chapters of her career. Duets Special closely follows The Pretenders’ latest studio album, Relentless - described as “at their melodic best” by The Guardian. The world tour that followed also created a new live record, Kick 'em Where It Hurts. When Hynde performed at the Mark Lanegan 60 Celebration Concert at the Roundhouse last year, The Times suggested her voice “should have Unesco world heritage status by now.”

Outside of the studio, painting has become an inseparable part of Hynde's creative life. In the last seven years, her artwork has been exhibited to acclaim in London, New York, and Massachusetts. It has also graced the sleeve of her 2019 album of cover versions, Valve Bone Woe, as motifs on garments in Vivienne Westwood’s Spring-Summer 2021 collection, and most recently through a new exhibition of paintings titled Hynde Sight. The latest installment opened at Harvey & Woodd, Edinburgh, this past summer. For more details, visit www.chrissiehynde.art.

From The Pyre should cement their place in the biggest of leagues”

- Rolling Stone UK

“Instantly addictive… The Last Dinner Party have done it again”
*****
DIY Magazine

Today, The Last Dinner Party release their second studio album From the Pyre (Island Records). For the album, the London five-piece headed into the studio early 2025 with Grammy Award winning producer Markus Dravs (Wolf Alice, Florence & The Machine, Bjork) to start work on the follow-up to their number 1 debut album, 2023’s Prelude to Ecstasy. From The Pyre is the sound of a band having a lot of fun rather than feeling any innate pressure to follow-up on what was an explosively successful debut record. It’s also the sound of a young band developing and maturing their songwriting together, as tight a unit as the endless months out on the road pay testament to. From the Pyre is available on all formats here.

Yesterday, the band announced an extensive 31-date tour of the US and Canada, with dates in cities including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Nashville, Toronto, Austin, and more (full dates below). The tour will kick off on March 27th at Austin, TX’s ACL Live at The Moody Theater and feature Florence Road supporting on the first leg of the tour and Automatic on the second. Tickets will go on-sale here on Friday, October 24th @ 10:00 AM Local Time.
The Last Dinner Party on From The Pyre:

“This record is a collection of stories, and the concept of album-as-mythos binds them. ‘The Pyre’ itself is an allegorical place in which these tales originate, a place of violence and destruction but also regeneration, passion and light.

“The songs are character driven but still deeply personal, a commonplace life event pushed to pathological extreme. Being ghosted becomes a Western dance with a killer, and heartbreak laughs into the face of the apocalypse. Lyrics invoke rifles, scythes, sailors, saints, cowboys, floods, Mother Earth, Joan of Arc, and blazing infernos. We found this kind of evocative imagery to be the most honest and truthful way to discuss the way our experiences felt, giving each the emotional weight it deserves.”

“This record feels a little darker, more raw and more earthy; it takes place looking out at a sublime landscape rather than seated an opulent table. It also feels metatextual and cheeky in places, like a knowing look reflected back at ourselves.”

With two BRIT Awards to their name (including Breakthrough Artist earlier this year), and having sold out virtually every show they played right across the globe (including three sold-out hometown shows at London’s Eventim Apollo), The Last Dinner Party’s arrival and subsequent worldwide success was one of the most thrilling introductions to a new British band in decades, and From The Pyre’s opening introduction suggests that unparalleled success story shows no signs of relenting.

Paz Lenchantin releases new folk/rock album 'Triste' - Listen / Share

Paz Lenchantin

(former Pixies, A Perfect Circle, Zwan, Silver Jews, Entrance musician/producer)

Releases  Debut Solo Album Triste Today
via Hideous Human Records - Listen / Share

Read Bass Magazine Cover Story

Triste Artwork By Camila Doring

Paz Lenchantin's Triste is a 12-track album that blends both Latin folk textures with American rock structures that features Paz on piano, adding her signature string arrangements around the rock band roots she came from. After almost three decades as bassist, vocalist, and co-writer for legendary bands like Pixies (2014–2024), A Perfect Circle, Zwan, The Entrance Band, Paz steps forward with her debut solo album, available today via her own imprint, Hideous Human Records.

Triste began forming in Petatlán, Mexico, where Paz spent most of 2024 on her own writing songs about faith, doubt, and self-discovery, mirroring her own experiences post Pixies. Mixed by Chris Coady (Beach House, Yeah Yeah Yeahs)Triste delivers a fiercely personal and expansive statement that stamps the first chapter in her solo career.

Paz performed all of the instruments before enlisting some of her favorite musicians, including former A Perfect Circle bandmates Josh Freese (drums)Troy Van Leeuwen (guitar) and more, all of whom helped Paz create a dynamic musical world that feels both unearthed and carefully constructed. Each song is shaped with an editor’s precision and guided by a mystic’s intuition, producing music that sounds both timely and timeless.

"ON"
Link/Embed: https://youtu.be/Z0NjmBo6faY?si=PC6Ow...OCTOBER 17, 2025 [New York, NY] – On ASHES AND DIAMONDS’ slinky new single ON,” vocalist/guitarist Daniel Ash (Bauhaus/Love And Rockets/Tones on Tail) sings “When you’re on, you’re on.” From the media praise being lavished on the new band and their upcoming debut album  ASHES AND DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER  (release date: October 31, 2025 via Cleopatra Records), not only is the trio of rock heroes “on,” they’re revved up and ready to go. Featured alongside Ash are drummer Bruce Smith and bassist Paul Spencer Denman, veterans of Public Image Ltd./The Pop Group and Sade/Sweetback respectively. “I’m loving the positivity from the press,” beams Denman. “It’s reassuring because we really did think, in all modesty, that we had made something special.”

Garnering early praise from media outlets including Brooklyn VeganStereogumFLOODClassic RockSonic Seducer, and dozens more, Ashes And Diamonds have made their mark right out of the gate. “The reaction to this album has been incredible,” adds Ash. “It’s just fabulous… BOOM!” ASHES AND DIAMONDS
L to RBruce Smith (credit: Chelsea Miller), Daniel Ash (credit: Regan Catam),
Paul Spencer Denman (credit: Stuart Matthewman)
(hi-res)The fourth single to be released from the soon-to-be-released groundbreaking debut Ashes And Diamonds Are Forever, “On” moves the band into a darker, more serpentine direction, demonstrating not only how diverse the band is genre-wise, but also how musically masterful and adept they are. With Smith and Denman as the solid rhythm section, the song allows Ash to have his guitar tones ring loudly as his stirring and hushed vocals whisper seductively. “This song is about having an extreme passion for life/love,” Ash says. “It’s the antithesis of complacency… Go for it forever.”

“Daniel made a demo of the song originally, then Paul and I went to work with the arrangement,” explains Smith about the origin of the song, displaying the democratic balance of the band.

The previous rhythmic single, “Teenage Robots” which Geek Native calls “a blend of post-punk sensibilities, electronic textures, and a ‘sleazy pulse’ that has drawn comparisons to early Depeche Mode and Sisters of Mercy,” displays yet another side of Ashes And Diamonds. Where the initial single “On A Rocka” was a driving and adrenaline-infused banger and its follow-up “Setting Yourself Up For Love” was more of an introspective slowburner, “Teenage Robots” carries a pulsing, midnight dancefloor vibe. “’Teenage Robots’ is indicative of its time,” explains Denman. “It’s a message… a postcard from some older guys looking thru a lens and observing the fucked-up nature of what has become relevant to 20+ year-olds. It’s a warning. They, all of them, should throw away those fuckin’ phones and kick, push, and break down some walls like we did at their age.” "TEENAGE ROBOTS"
Link/Embed: https://youtu.be/6PJlD_tTWR0?si=ocfoT...Its accompanying video, an animated retro futuristic view of youth hypnotized by the virtual activity on their smartphones while visceral life around them is ignored, is a cautionary alarm to return to the real world which Ash warns, “Get out of the city and get up into the middle of nowhere as often as possible, kids!”

The album  Ashes   And Diamond Are Forever  will be released via Cleopatra Records on October 31, 2025 and can be preordered HERE. It was produced by Ashes And Diamonds with some co-production with James Salter and Joe Dexter. It was mixed, engineered with additional production by Robert Adam Stevenson. ASHES AND DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER

KATIE SCHECTER RELEASES HER NEW RECORD

EMPRESS — STREAM / ORDER ON VINYL

PRODUCED BY GUITARIST OF CAGE THE ELEPHANT

AND HER HUSBAND: NICK BOCKRATH

EMPRESS MISSION STATEMENT SHOT ON FILM

BY CJ HARVEY — WATCH HERE

ALBUM RELEASE SHOW IN

NASHVILLE TONIGHT — TICKETS HERE

Katie Schecter today releases her new album Empress, finding liberation in imperfection. Recorded live to tape at the legendary Diamond Mine Studio in NYC while she was pregnant with her daughter, Empress is in many ways a family affair. Produced by Nick Bockrath, her husband and the guitarist of Cage The Elephant, the record distills life’s double-edged lessons into 11 songs. The album also features the powerhouse rhythm section of Nick Movshon and Homer Steinweiss, who are known for their work with The Arcs, Clairo, Mark Ronson and more. Empress also showcases Russ Pahl on pedal steel, Leon Michels on piano, and Matt Combs on violin, viola and cello, informing the record’s soulful core temperature — Stream / Order Empress on vinyl.

In her own words, Schecter’s mission statement for the album is:

“In a world that’s gone mad, I will keep making. Fast food, fast fashion I am the argyle sweater resting at the bottom of the $5 bin. The one that’s withstood decades of wear, overlooked, but pristinely fashioned. The one people would want if they knew better. Listen closely, you will hear my heart… the imperfections I have come to cherish and privately detest..the warmth of the tape machine…the vulnerability in each hopeful breath…unstoppable, undeniable, my human experience. Utterly unique and no different than anybody else’s. I only did this to leave something behind when I one day evaporate. Something for the pickers, diggers, the tastemakers and truth seekers. Something woven by skilled and tired hands, a pattern worthy of every stitch. The one and only…Empress.”

The mission statement now takes on a new, physical form in an official video, shot on film by CJ Harvey, showcasing Schecter at her most exposed — Watch.

The album fiercely opens with the title track, a song that Schecter finished in one sitting as it seemed to write itself. She shares, “‘Empress’ is the birth of a new idea, the renewal of a mindset; it is selflessness, motherhood, creativity, conviction and fertility of the imagination. It’s for anyone who loves something/someone unconditionally; for those who treasure what it takes to be a woman, our strengths, our nuances and imperfections alike. It’s for the dimwits who think they can make laws about our bodies, yet cower in the presence of our innate power. ‘Empress’ is for my daughter Only, hoping she can remain confident, soft and unwavering in a society testing her self-possession at every turn.”

Winding our way through the tracklist, we meet previously released singles including ”Run River Run,” “Hide My Weapons” and “Pay It No Mind.” “Run River Run” is a resilient mix of rock, soul and pop that drives with few glances to the rearview mirror. A co-write with Bockrath, “Hide My Weapons” is an autobiographical lovers’ quarrel, one where soulmates have the intimate knowledge of each other that can be used to love tenderly or slice sharply. The easygoing “Pay It No Mind” exists as a meditation to not sweat the small stuff.

The album’s final song “Hiding Place” opens with an audio clip from the first time Schecter heard her daughter’s heart beating, a moment she credits as where her life really began. Bluesy and swaying, “Hiding Place” is the manifestation of unconditional love and being the last one standing when all the dust settles.

Distilling the bits of wisdom across Empress into one final thought, Schecter shared, “I wanted the whole record to be one color, one unified experience in a time of consistent polarity...focusing on what we all share as human beings…we all dream, we love, we fear, we have control, we lose it entirely…We are born and exist in many forms and fashions, and eventually we all die…We are wildly individual and subsequently not unique at all….We’re all here inhabiting one space, one earth. I feel the need for us to be reminded of the common ground we share just for being human, for being here at all.”

To celebrate the release of Empress, Schecter will play a hometown Nashville show tonight at Soft Junk with support from Alicia Gail. Special guests in Schecter’s band include Zac Cockrell of Alabama Shakes on bass and Ray Jacildo from The Black Keys’ touring band, on keys. Tickets can be purchased here.

Katie Schecter's journey as a solo artist began with a self-titled EP in 2017, followed by her second full-length release Bad For Business in 2020, solidifying her place on the map as a boundary-pushing musician. Recent career highlights include performing at a sold-out show opening for Beck in Nashville while 8 months pregnant and opening for The Zombies at SXSW. Additionally, her vocal talents are featured on Cage The Elephant’s most recent Grammy nominated album Neon Pill as well as the 2020 Best Rock Album winner Social Cues.

PRAISE FOR EMPRESS

FLAUNT “...Schecter coolly assures us. And what she says, goes.”

X96 “With Empress, she folds everything into the frame: motherhood, creativity, love, fear, power—and all the messy, electric moments between.”

LIGHTNING 100 “...Katie Schecter’s vision for Empress as what she called ‘dubbed- out Supremes’ is certainly an apt description. With this sort of reverence for the past, Schecter balances these timeless elements with modern relevance beautifully.”

GLIDE “Schecter’s vocals are soft but subtly powerful. She whispers and croons in a smoky voice that evokes the languid melancholy of Lana Del Rey and the sultry tones of a more subdued Etta James.”

INDIE IS NOT A GENRE “The track is a hypnotic and soulful ride, defined by a cinematic sophistication that effortlessly blends elements of rock, pop, and soul.”

CAVEAT “Sultry and cinematic, the track glides between rock, soul, and pop, with a forward-driving energy that refuses to look back.”

THE LUNA COLLECTIVE “Empress celebrates the resilience of the feminine spirit…In embracing imperfection, Schecter has found liberation. Empress feels like a manifesto. It’s a tribute to womanhood, autonomy and the unshakable softness that lives within us all.”

THE INDY REVIEW “From the word go, Schecter displays a vocal and lyrical sense of feminine confidence that is usually found once in a generation, if you’re lucky. Billie Holiday had it. Amy Winehouse did too…And she is well on her way if Empress is any indication."
