Mavis Staples Shares Title Track of Upcoming Album "Sad And Beautiful World", Listen Now

MAVIS STAPLES SHARES TITLE TRACK OF UPCOMING ALBUM “ SAD AND BEAUTIFUL WORLD ”

ALBUM OUT NOVEMBER 7

2026 TOUR DATES INCLUDE CHICAGO THEATRE,
RYMAN AUDITORIUM AND BEACON THEATRE

More than seventy years after a high-school a cappella teacher tried and failed to change her singing style, Mavis Staples has one of the most recognizable voices in the world. Her new album â€˜Sad And Beautiful World’, out November 7, is the latest solo album from a national treasure and multigenerational talent with vocals so warm and textured they feel like a physical presence. A collection of hopeful songs for tough times, the title track was written by Mark Linkous a.k.a. Sparklehorse. With its funeral-march rhythm and spare lyrics, “Sad And Beautiful World” finds beauty even amid the grief over everything that’s been lost. Listen to Mavis’s rendition below.

Listen to “Sad And Beautiful World”: https://youtu.be/HAZGQG3yHNo

‘Sad and Beautiful World’ was produced by Brad Cook, known for his work with Bon Iver, Waxahatchee, and Nathaniel Rateliff, among others. The record spans seven decades of the American songbook — a range nearly as vast as Mavis’ career — and includes reinventions of timeless songs as well as original music. Cook tells stories about growing up listening to the Staple Singers. About seeing Mavis perform live, he said, “I remember being utterly floored by the conviction and power she had in her voice.”

To capture Mavis’ resonant phrasing and textured vocals, Cook tried to build every song around that voice. He began with spare skeleton recordings, just drum and piano, and focused on recording her vocals. Then he expanded the song from there, trying never to overshadow or undermine the framework she’d established. He imagined a record in the tradition of Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s ‘Will the Circle Be Unbroken’, a group of artists coming together to celebrate community—in this case, one centered on Mavis.

‘Sad And Beautiful World’ includes cameos by artists who have become part of Mavis’ world, many of whom are legends in their own right: Buddy Guy, Bonnie Raitt, Jeff Tweedy, Derek Trucks, Katie Crutchfield, MJ Lenderman, Justin Vernon, and others shine a light on her, while Mavis does what only she can do. Embracing vulnerability, she sings close and deep here, drawing the listener into a circle filled with her unforgettable presence.

Never slowing down, Mavis will be on tour throughout the fall with her next show in Wisconsin on October 1 and upcoming 2026 dates at three legendary venues: Chicago’s Chicago Theatre, Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium and New York’s Beacon Theatre. All upcoming dates are listed below.

SPRINTS All That Is Over The Band’s Mountainous New Record Is Available Today

SPRINTS All That Is Over The Band’s Mountainous New Record Is Available TodaySPRINTS’ sophomore effort, All That Is Over, is a remarkable second effort that pushes the band’s dynamics into richer territory, finding new space and nuance while also going harder than ever.

Written on tour buses, in soundchecks, and very much in real time, it’s an album set against the backdrop of a litany of atrocities - the war in Gaza, the wildfires in LA, Trump’s executive order denying the rights of trans people - that sees SPRINTS trying to make sense of a society gone mad. The 11-track long player features the standout singles, â€œDescartes,““Rage,”  â€œBeg,” and â€œBetter,” and was produced by Daniel Fox of Gilla Band at La Frette studio outside of Paris.

Since the SPRINTS’ inception, they have established a name for themselves, crafting a ferocious live show that echoes the band’s recorded sound, equal parts raw and refined, catapulting listeners into controlled chaos.

SPRINTS’ previously announced international tour dates are currently underway with a series of in-store/out-store performances in the UK and Germany, September 27th-October 3rd. The band will embark on a headline and festival run in the EU/UK tour October 17th-Nov. 20th.

SPRINTS will then visit America with a headline run in early 2026, beginning on January 28th in Minneapolis, MN, and continuing through February 14th in Seattle, WA.  Then from March 10th through April 2nd, 2026, the band will on their full EU headline tour.  Please find a complete list of dates below.

LAURA-MARY CARTER RELEASES DEBUT SOLO ALBUM 'BYE BYE JACKIE'

LAURA-MARY CARTER
RELEASES DEBUT SOLO ALBUM 'BYE BYE JACKIE' Blood Red Shoes Guitarist Unveils Intimate New Direction with Focus Track 'Who Are You Foolin'' and Announces Major Support Tour with Queens of the Stone Age Listen to the album on Spotify here LONDON, September 26, 2025 â€“ Acclaimed alt-rock guitarist and songwriter Laura-Mary Carter, best known as one half of UK duo Blood Red Shoes, releases her highly anticipated debut solo album 'BYE BYE JACKIE' today via Jazz Life. The album marks a compelling departure from Blood Red Shoes' electric intensity, venturing into melancholy indie, British noir, and Americana territory. The album's focus track, 'Who Are You Foolin'', showcases Carter's evolution as a solo artist, blending vintage recording techniques with an atmospheric feel reminiscent of 1960s French films. The track is available to stream now at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWe0IilTpnA Speaking about the album, Carter reveals: "Yes, Jackie exists (and if you're reading this... don't). This is a farewell in stereo -- to fading faces, busted dreams, and plastic flowers that never wilt. I bet it all on Jackie. Jackie lost. Where do you go after that? Somewhere between the jukebox and the junkyard -- that's where this album lives. Go ahead -- laugh. I probably will, eventually." 'BYE BYE JACKIE' is an intimate exploration of love, loss, and female identity, featuring vintage recording techniques including tape, Farfisa, and omnichord. Recorded in Hackney with producers Oscar Robertson (Sholto) and David Bardon (Sunglasses for Jaws), the album channels influences from The Velvet Underground to The Ronettes and Beck, creating Carter's most personal work to date.QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE TOUR ANNOUNCEMENTCarter will embark on her biggest solo support shows to date, joining Queens of the Stone Age for their highly anticipated 'The Catacombs Tour 2025' across Europe and the UK this October. "I'm thrilled to be joining Queens of the Stone Age for these very special shows across Europe and the UK, in some of the world's most iconic venues including opera houses and the Royal Albert Hall," says Carter. "They'll be performing a unique, stripped-back set inspired by their recording in the Paris catacombs and I'll be performing solo. It's been a hard secret to keep, but I'm so excited to finally share it."THE CATACOMBS TOUR 2025 DATESOctober 18, 2025: Milan, Italy - Teatro Lirico Giorgio GaberOctober 20, 2025: Paris, France - Le Grand RexOctober 23, 2025: Berlin, Germany - Theater des WestensOctober 24, 2025: Copenhagen, Denmark - DR Koncerthuset, KoncertsalenOctober 26, 2025: Amsterdam, Netherlands - Royal Theater CarréOctober 27, 2025: Antwerp, Belgium - Queen Elisabeth HallOctober 29, 2025: London, UK - Royal Albert HallThe tour represents a major milestone in Carter's solo journey, bringing her intimate sound to some of Europe's most prestigious venues alongside one of rock's most influential bands.CRITICAL ACCLAIMThe album follows the success of previous singles 'June Gloom' featuring Lee Kiernan from IDLES, and 'Four Letter Words', which Carter describes as her "favourite track on the album," featuring "this French retro feel with a touch of British monotone" with layered synths and Farfisa keys.Carter's solo work has already garnered significant attention from The Line of Best FitDork MagazineDIY Mag, plus radio play on John Kennedy's Xposure on Radio X and Selector Radio UK.ABOUT LAURA-MARY CARTERCarter has spent two decades touring globally as part of Blood Red Shoes, releasing six acclaimed albums and earning coverage from Pitchfork, DIY Magazine, Dork, and NME. RED IVORY announce EP 'Please Leave, I Need To Wake Up Now' and share first single "Crashing Down".

INTRODUCING:
RED IVORY- South London newcomers announce EP
‘Please Leave, I Need To Wake Up Now’
to be released on November 28th

Today South London four-piece Red Ivory have announced details of a new EP, ' Please Leave, I Need To Wake Up Now' , to be self-released on November 28th. Along with the announcement, they have shared a first single and confirmed a show at London’s Brixton Windmill for October 5th.

The band – Eiliyah, Berry, Frida and Ivy â€“ formed in autumn 2021 as four fourteen-year-olds in their secondary school music rooms. The tracks within this EP follow their growth, evolution, and development over three years of dramatic changes to environments, influences, and experiences. Over the past four years they have been consistently building both their repertoire and live presence, writing all their music collaboratively so that it reflects each of their styles, influences, perspectives, and experiences. 'Please Leave, I Need To Wake Up Now' comes as a product of these four years. With the five tracks being written between autumn 2021 and spring 2024, the EP is charged with the changes the band underwent as they wrote it - themes such as uncertainty and disappointment, exploring a complex relationship with change, and feeling powerless in the face of these forces.

Today they share a first look at the EP with single â€œCrashing Down.” The track explores themes of self-destruction, written about the heightened and all-consuming anxieties that come with being under the influence. The sentiment is channelled through the track’s foreboding and tightly wound instrumentation – claustrophobic and at points almost static,  before freeway-falling into a frenzy of interlocking, distorted guitar, howling vocals, and thrashing cymbals. The addition of clarinet from bassist Berry lends a rich, sombre tone.

Listen to â€œCrashing Down”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Lyv_VJMkCw

Despite releasing a seven-track EP, 'Façade', in spring 2023, Red Ivory’s 'Please Leave, I Need To Wake Up Now' redefines their debut, existing as a cohesive and bold body of work as opposed to the mixtape-style 2023 release. After winning the nomination for Festival Republic’s ReBalance programme, Red Ivory began to plan the recording and release of the EP. Over a couple of weeks in summer 2024, it was recorded at Strongroom Studios in Shoreditch with the help of producer Adele Phillips, who provided both creative and technical input. Their first extended amount of time recording in a studio, the experience was new and exciting to the band. The long recording days allowed the band to bounce off each other creatively and fully inhabit an environment where they were in tune with one another’s ideas - a refreshing break from the A Level revision and exams they were undergoing at the time.

While the lyrics and themes running throughout the EP are sometimes insecure or uncertain, the music itself is unapologetically bold, mirroring certain aspects of the band and the liminal space they operated in from their inception to the recording of the EP. The title itself – 'Please Leave, I Need To Wake Up Now' â€“ is both commanding yet apprehensive, consistent with the themes of uncertainty explored throughout the lyrics. Overall, the EP synthesises Red Ivory’s fluctuating experiences, outlooks, and identities, both musically and personally, individually and collectively, over four years from ages fourteen to eighteen, and welcomes what is next. A statement of intent from a new band poised to make their mark.

‘Please Leave, I Need To Wake Up Now’  track list:
1. 12th October
2. Crashing Down
3. Hate The Way
4. Interlude
5. My Mind

Red Ivory live dates:
October 5th – London – The Windmill
December 3rd - London - Sebright Arms

Today, Chicago band This House is Creaking (THiC) share their new single “2 LAMP (lava lamp).” Characterized by THiC’s sticky, catchy sound, this new track comes out swinging with distortion, knotty, fuzzed-out guitar, and, true to THiC form, unexpected left turns. Written last year after bandmates Ehmed Nauman and Micah Miller moved into a new apartment together, the song marked a moment of change, both in their living situations and in their creative collaboration. Through this shift, they found a shared creative space to consistently work through ideas together, finding themes that they wanted to keep exploring. The track pins down that moment of rebirth, of reflection — of when you find yourself yelling questions you didn’t know you had.

"The first song we wrote after moving from our old apartment, where our first two records were written and recorded,” says This House is Creaking. “An extremely cathartic song about cleansing yourself of old habits, relationships, mental blockades, whatever it may be, and starting fresh while letting those experiences inform your future self. Sometimes you just have to stare into a lava lamp."

LISTEN TO “2 LAMP (LAVA LAMP)”

In addition to opening for Hotline TNT earlier this September, the band has received stamps of approval from other indie mainstays, including an upcoming support slot for Water From Your Eyes' sold out Oct. 2 Chicago show, and supporting Delaney Bailey on a Midwest tour later this fall. Drawing on Miller’s roots in electronic music and Nauman’s skill as a guitarist (playing in bands such as Godly the Ruler and M.A.G.S.), the band’s mixture of sounds and inspirations is reflective of the expansive cross-pollination of the Chicago music community today. Within this thriving creative environment, This House is Creaking is becoming a scene favorite.

This past summer, This House is Creaking released their second album, I Want To Feel At Home Here. Tracks like the hooky, scrawling “Talk To Me” illustrate their bent towards noise and careful ear for melody, while “Elden Ring” displays a tender, earth-laden end of their range. It wrestles with wondering what is happening in the world and how to find oneself within it. One thing the album makes very clear is that, while they have a highly distinct sound all their own, you can never quite predict their next sonic steps.

Rosa Anschütz releases brilliant new LP 'Sabbatical'

Rosa Anschütz releases brilliant new LP Sabbatical

Her first international release outside of Germany, Sabbatical is out today via Heartworm Press

Rough Trade Berlin in-store tonight sold out

"a fascinating listen you should try on for size" - Austin Town Hall

"Mixing hauntingly melodic vocals with poetic spoken word, Rosa Anschütz challenges genre with her new album..." - The Luna Collective

"Rosa Anschütz has dug into her past and transformed sound and poems into a furious, dark avant-garde soundscape." - Rolling Stone (GER)

Berlin-born artist Rosa Anschütz, known for her spellbinding vocal work in the electronic underground, has released her new album Sabbatical via Wesley Eisold's (Cold Cave, American Nightmare) Heartworm Press.  Heartworm has previously released books by legendary artists Genesis P'Orridge, Mark Lanegan, Alan Vega and more, and Rosa Anschütz's ambitious 14-track statement compliments the label's catalogue with her haunting minimalism and visionary depth.

Swapping pulsing club beats for a raw, cinematic intimacy, Anschütz channels the spectral beauty of Moon Pix-era Cat Power, the mystique of Nico, and the experimental clarity of Björk and Dead Can Dance. The stripped-back arrangement foregrounds Anschütz’s arresting voice, carrying lyrics that feel both prophetic and personal.

With Sabbatical, Rosa Anschütz emerges as one of the most compelling avant-garde voices of her generation... an artist unafraid to dismantle genre, geography, or expectation. The album is a bold reinvention and a testament to the patience and precision of a singular creative vision.
