SWOON (Fanfarlo) Premieres "Heatwave" on Consequence of Sound
SWOON Premieres "Heatwave" on Consequence of Sound
Debut Digi-Single Out Feb. 19 on Canvasclub
LISTEN & SHARE: SWOON - "Heatwave"
https://soundcloud.com/thisisswoon/heatwave-single-edit "[SWOON] can be heard getting down to new wave and flaunting disco flair, all the while going a little wild (clink! clank! clang!) with their percussion. ... The most magical aspect of the whole thing? That it all somehow totally works." -- Consequence of Sound
SWOON is a new project by Simon Balthazar (Fanfarlo) and King Knut, two Scandinavian musicians based in London and Mexico City. It was conceived as an anything-goes studio project gleefully borrowing from art rock, disco and post punk – as happy in the company of Arthur Russell or Brian Eno as that of Scott Walker, Laurie Anderson or late Talk Talk. The forthcoming SWOON album is a colourful onslaught of tracks that keep you wondering what will happen next with ever-surprising landscapes of wide open spaces, seasick grooves and cut up vocal hooks. As if several stations had drifted into synch on a detuned radio, this is music that brings about its own universe by straddling several others. SWOON's first single “Heatwave” hits you like a DIY disco juggernaut, resplendent with analogue synth arpeggios and with nods to '80s New York City and European kosmische music.

The Chemical Brothers: The Making Of 'Wide Open'Watch the video: https://youtu.be/ifAE5MWR-4k
Directed by their long-term video collaborators dom&nic – previous visuals include the classic 'Hey Boy Hey Girl' and 'Setting Sun' videos – The Chemical Brothers have received incredible acclaim for their stunning video for 'Wide Open ft Beck'.Today, the band have released a behind the scenes video for the project. This video gives a fascinating insight into the technological complexity of the piece and how the choreographer, dancer and VFX Team at The Mill collaborated to create the final, stunning visual. Please see appendix for full details.Dom&nic's vision was to merge the mechanical and organic, having been inspired by procedural cellular structures; the VFX Team at The Mill created a full CG model of the dancer, Sonoya Mizuno, comprising of 107 individual anatomic rigs, as well as bespoke tools to allow the seamless transformation which happens during the dance. Dom&nic have made an abundance of legendary videos including David Bowie & Trent Reznors' 'I'm Afraid of Americans' and 'Ava Adore' by The Smashing Pumpkins. Neil Michael Hagerty and The Howling Hex Announce A New Album!
TRAVEL TO THE MILE-HIGH CITY WITH HOWLING HEX
DENVER
OUT ON APRIL 15TH, 2016! Neil Michael Hagerty leads the Howling Hex back out into the sunshine with a new full length, their first since
The Best of the Howling Hex
back in 2013. This direction, explored in a pair of limited-edition singles released over the past two years, reaches a populist zenith on the new album,
Denver
, in which an entire community and geographic region are tapped for their energy, the celebratory pulses of which feed the new music of Neil Michael Hagerty and The Howling Hex!
The deeply principled, forward-facing manner of The Howling Hex is based in the now-ancient ways of rock and roll alchemy- the modding-up of ethnic idioms from regional traditional American sounds and the refitting of these rhythms with expressions of new youth, reckless within the contemporary lifestyle! Coupled with the beats, Neil's howling guitar sounds elevate themusic of Denver to an ecstatic communal expression, the likes of which will no doubt massage pleasure centers in the make-up of modern popular music listeners.
The music, when combined with the high-energy reflections of the city life and mountain scene that emanates from Denver , gives The Howling Hex their most powerful, accessible iteration, driven by the rhythm and accelerated by the gnarl of Neil's classic guitar playing. Travel to Denver with The Howling Hex on April 15th!

Yeasayer Reveals Full Gatefold Album Art, Announces Initial 2016 Tour Dates
YEASAYER
REVEALS FULL ‘AMEN & GOODBYE’
GATEFOLD ALBUM ART
CREATED BY SCULPTOR DAVID ALTMEJD NEW ALBUM TEASER, ‘AMEN & GOODBYE 6’ INITIAL 2016 TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED
Today Yeasayer reveals the complete gatefold album artwork for their fourth studio album,
‘Amen & Goodbye,’
out on April 1, 2016 on Mute. The artwork is a tableau of sculptures, actors and digital images by the New York-based Canadian artist David Altmejd, who worked directly with the group to create the record sleeve.
Moloch, an ancient god of child sacrifice, a silent movie starlet, a breastfeeding mother, characters from the band’s songs past and present, and various other pop-culture and religious characters all take the stage for the cover art. "It's Sgt Pepper meets Hieronymous Bosch meets Dali meets PeeWee's Playhouse” say Yeasayer. Altmejd, whose work is a major influence on the band, said the following about their collaboration: “I’m not very comfortable thinking about image and graphic design. I decided to offer them a sort of landscape filled with as many details as possible. I thought about a series of objects that would be inspired by characters that came from Yeasayer’s albums... but also characters that come from the news. There’s really fake looking sculptures, there’s printouts representing cartoony characters, there’s naked people… For me what’s very important is that the image offers enough visually for people to be really absorbed in the observation of details.”
Yeasayer also share a trailer today, entitled ‘Amen & Goodbye 6.’ The new teaser is a more comprehensive behind-the-scenes peek at details from Altmejd's tableau, ending with a final zoom out to reveal the entire mise-en-scène. Watch it HERE and listen to a previously unheard track from the album. The previous teasers are available to watch HERE.
____________________________________________________________________________________ Yeasayer will be performing a sold out live show in the UK this Friday, February 12th at the BBC Radio 6Music Festival in Bristol. DEAD SKELETONS first release in two years, 'Live in Berlin' via FUZZ CLUB
[image error]
Fuzz Club announce the first release in two years from cultpsych band Dead Skeletons, and first teaser track from the album.
Listen to “When The Sun” HERE
[image error]
Independent record label Fuzz Club have announced the release of Dead Skeletons Live in Berlin, which will be released February 26th. Their first release in two years, the album captures a performance at Berlin’s iconic SO36 Clubin 2013.
This unique show, full of celebratory energy, marked the release of their double A side for “Om Varja Sattva Hung/Dead Comet” in the birth place of their own label, Dead Monk Records. It also saw the club revived especially for this performance.
To their fans, Dead Skeletons are more than a band, they are rock n roll spirit guides, exploring the depths of light and dark, life and death, and all the spaces in-between. Powered by their ‘Dead Mantra’ – “He who fears death cannot enjoy life” – Dead Skeletons are a celebration of the self, on the same enlightening spiritual path first trod by free jazz experimentalists Albert Ayler and John Coltrane.
The Berlin show captured on this record begins with calm, floating drones that could have been forged in the tranquillity of Iceland’s glaciers. Then the skeletal guitar line of “Om Varja Sattva Hung” slices in propelled by a relentless motoric rhythm. The driving, precise beats throb like German Krautrockers Neu! or La Dusseldorf.
Although Dead Skeletons are in search of spiritual answers, they also rock. Like Buddhist Stooges, theirs is a raw and propulsive psych. They get down and dirty on “Psycho Dead” with a sleazy bass line reminiscent of New York duoSuicide’s classic “Johnny”, seeping with edge, danger and attitude.

ABOUT DEAD SKELETONSDead Skeletons’ story began a year before they formed, when Brian Jonestown Massacre frontman, Anton Newcombe, met Nonni while recording BJM’s My Bloody Underground in Reykjavic, Iceland. The birth of Dead Skeletons came in 2008 when Nonni was seeking collaborators to work with him on a piece of music for an installation for the Reykavic Art Museum. He enlisted friends from Iceland’s art set – Henrik Björnsson ofSinagpore Sling and Ryan Van Kriedt of Asteriod #4.The track was released on Anton Newcombe’s A Records in 2010. This was followed by their debut album, ‘Dead Magick’, in 2011, and three single releases in 2012 including ‘Buddha-Christ’ on Fuzz Club. Their most recent release, ‘Dead Comet’, was in 2013 on Nonni’s own Dead Monk Records.Visual art has remained implicit to Dead Skeletons, with many album covers originating as paintings, and Nonni painting on canvas as part of the group’s live show. Nonni also maintains his own art practice alongside a clothing line under the label, DEAD.
ABOUT THE VINYL
Live in Berlin is to be released in two double 12” gatefold editions, one standard and one as a Fuzz Club Exclusive. Chelsea Lankes Shares New Indie Pop Anthem "Bullet" // Premiered with FADER
CHELSEA LANKES+
S
tream new song "B
ullet"
+ Announces debut self-titled EP out April 8th+ Premiered with FADER
Texan-born Los Angeles-based rising sweet pop singer Chelsea Lankes is writing the modern day romance. Her music explores the intricacies of relationships and the power of being a woman with Chelsea fully bearing her soul in her songwriting and finding that common thread that ties us to one another.
Today Chelsea announces her debut self-titled EP (out April 8th via B3SCI Records) with release of hooky new track "Bullet." Indubitably catchy and painfully relatable, “Bullet” resonates with everyone who’s experienced the relief of leaving an doomed relationship. This perfect power pop anthem delivers self-validation with a dose of rebelliousness in an assertively cheery hook.
"The thing I love about this song is that it's sonically unique; it's running in its own lane," Chelsea says. "It was so fun to write and there's nothing about it that's an imitation of what's out in the world right now and I'm really proud of that. The song is just about not taking a breakup so seriously- calling a stupid relationship and dumb boy for what they are and moving on. It's empowering and a different side of me as an artist that I'm excited to share with fans."

High-Functioning Flesh announces "Human Remains" 7" for Dais Records + tour with Body of Light

OUT FEBRUARY 26TH ON DAIS RECORDS
Los Angeles based EBM duo High-Functioning Flesh usher in 2016 with a new single entitled "Human Remains" on Dais Records. For the past three years, synth-punks Gregory Vand and Susan Subtract have pulled together their subversive misgivings through a series of releases such as their debut album "A Unity of Miseries...A Misery of Unities" on DKA Records and their sophomore follow-up "Definite Structures" on Dais Records. Each audible imprint left behind by High-Functioning Flesh dices up their sinister tone, reworking themselves through their own self reference and spits out a malformed adjustment of electronic dynamics and uneasy phonetic display.
"Human Remains" signifies the band's movement from aggressive industrial structure to shining dance floor anthems, all while making sure their audience never strays in thought of who their musical architect is playing overhead. Coupled with the B-side "Heightened State", HFF passes through the speakers at more progressive, minimal electronic pace. Keeping up the rhythm and nature of their familiar signature, HFF matures into complex, infectious cadence married with a voltaic synthesized sound that has us never halting in our dance and curious about their next move.
Stream the a-side below! The band is also hitting the road extensively with recent Dais signees Body of Light, see those dates below.

"The Manchester, England-reared all-female quartet Pins may be the talk of the indie scene - and look magazine-ready, to boot - but their ascent has been as uncontrived as their fuzzed-out, slightly melancholy sound."-The New York Times
"Citing '90s groups like My Bloody Valentine and Jesus and Mary Chain as influences, the band takes a jangly, straight-ahead approach to alternative rock on "Young Girls" --NPR
" They're just a very good rock band making very good rock music, taking a familiar stew of influences and just nailing the fuck out of them." --Stereogum
"Young Girls," a sunny-day indie shuffler that flows perfectly in time for the gentle winds of spring" --FADER
Still on the heels of their successful second album Wild Nights , Manchester five-piece PINS have announced a string of spring US tour dates alongside indie heavyweights The Subways, in addition to an appearance at this year's SXSW. In honor of this announcement they have shared a video displaying these dates that can be viewed here.
PINS earlier this year released their standout second album Wild Nights , receiving great acclaim across media in the UK and US. The album was recorded in Joshua Tree at Rancho De La Luna with Dave Catching (QOTSA, Eagles of Death Metal) and Hayden Scott, and mixed in New York with Ben Baptie at Atomic Sound NYC (Mark Ronson).
This year has seen a packed out touring schedule for the band. Along with performing their own sold out headline shows, they have supported the likes of Sleater-Kinney, Drenge, Best Coast and Mythopeoia III: Legs.
