Under his new moniker vangoffey, former Supergrass star Danny Goffey is set to release single ‘Sucker’, taken from the critically acclaimed debut album Take Your Jacket Off & Get Into It.
The album, which was released in October 2015 on Distiller Records, has been championed by the likes of NME, Q, Uncut, BBC 6 Music and Radio X, and Goffey’s mischievous wit on previously released tracks ‘Trials of a Modern Man’ and ‘Race of Life’ continues to charm the nation.
‘Sucker’ is no exception; a no-frills tale of a failed romantic pursuit, which showcases Goffey’s knack for amusing, relatable story-telling – a definitive trait of the man who wrote classic Supergrass hits ‘Alright’, ‘Caught by the Fuzz’ and ‘Late in the Day’.
The charismatic multi-instrumentalist currently resides in Somerset with his wife Pearl Lowe (singer of ‘90s post-punk band Powder and mother of Daisy Lowe), along with their children, who have all starred in vangoffey’s videos for ‘Trials of a Modern Man’ and ‘Race of Life’.
The band has announced two shows at famous London venue The Social on 14th March,as well as The Wheatsheaves in Goffey’s hometown Frome on 15th March. vangoffey are also planning a nationwide tour, the details of which will be announced soon.
Goffey’s new line up with vangoffey is considered somewhat of a super-group, consisting of Drew McConnell from Babyshambles, Louis Eliot from Rialto, and the son of Florence & the Machine producer and Pulp bassist Steve Mackey – Marley Mackey. vangoffey are set to announce tour dates very soon.
It’s just over 20 years since Supergrass’ breakthrough hit album ‘I Should Coco’ was released, and Goffey has a vast amount of fantastic stories – from the highs and lows ofBritpop, partying and ‘90s Camden, experiencing Supergrass’ incredibly rapid rise to the top of the charts, to later briefly touring with Babyshambles in their heyday.

Holly Miranda returned to the spotlight in 2015 with her sophomore self-titled release. Making the year's OUT 100 and finding coverage from the likes of Huffington Post, Buzzfeed, SPIN and more, Holly is already tearing up 2016 with a slew of well received appearances and now a new music video for one of the most engaging singles on the record. The clip for "Come On" is directed by Natalie Morales ofThe Grinder (Rob Lowe, Fred Savage) who has been directing a wide array of visual projects recently.
On a trip intended to jumpstart the creative process for new material, Holly Miranda reflects, “I had a dream that I was going to rent a house in Joshua Tree and go write by myself for a month. I’d never been there before, but I woke up the next day and booked the first house I found and left a few days later. It was about getting away from the chatter of Los Angeles and reconnecting with myself and nature. I had a bit of writer’s block after the last record, I wasn’t having fun anymore and I really needed to get back the core of why I started making music 17 years ago.” she says.Whatever it was Miranda needed from her time in desert, she seems to have found it. On her self-titled sophomore release Miranda nods at her singer-songwriter roots but also pushes herself in new directions. She co-produced the album with Florent Barbier, and tracks like “Desert Call” and “Everlasting,” show off straightforward songwriting, soulful delivery and a lighters-in-the-air orchestration that places Miranda alongside the pantheon of songwriters who can make heartache sound beautiful. After half of her life spent on stage or in a recording studio—with her former rock band The Jealous Girlfriends and more recently as a solo artist— Miranda is still experimenting and diving for deeper truths.“This is the most honest thing I’ve ever made; it’s very raw and is a contrast to what I’ve done in the past,” she says. After writing in Joshua Tree, she headed to Brooklyn, New York in the winter of 2012 to record most of the album, enlisting the help of bandmates Timmy Mislock, Maria Eisen and David Jack Daniels, while taking turns herself on piano, drums, guitar and bass. “There’s a Motown vibe to some of the songs” she notes of the recordings. “I wanted it to feel like the band was playing the songs live. There’s also a few that are more electronic and ethereal,” like the song “Come On.” She recorded that track in Los Angeles with David Andrew Sitek, producer of her 2010 release The Magicians Private Library.Outside of recording, Miranda’s kept plenty busy. She recently toured the globe playing guitar for Karen O in support of her solo debut Crush Songs, she toured Spain for the annual Voces Femininas festival and is currently working on a graphic novel with Portland based artist Catherine Lazar Odell.“I can’t remember a time I wasn’t singing. When I was little my older sisters used to make me lay on the floorboard of the car if I was going to sing, because my voice was so loud they said it felt like it was ‘inside of their heads.’ I’ll never stop making music. It’s the best therapy I’ve found.”Listening to her new record, one certainly hopes she never stops.

The song deals with overcoming self-doubt, silencing detractors, and finding the strength to take risks and fearlessly pursue your aspirations. The message is underscored by one of Santigold’s most impassioned vocals and an explosive rhythm. “Banshee” was produced by Patrik Berger and John Hill with additional production by Linus “Style of Eye” Eklow of Miike Snow. “Banshee” follows the release of “Chasing Shadows” from 99¢. Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij produced the track which features backing vocals from the West Los Angeles Children’s Choir. The mesmerizing video directed by Elliott Lester, explores the conflicted reality of an artist’s life, touching on themes of ambition and isolation. Watch it here.
Following her last album, Master of My Make Believe, Santigold wanted to explore new corners of her sound and different ways to convey her vision and political commentary. She worked with new collaborators Patrik Berger, Rostam Batmanglij, Hit-Boy, HazeBanga, Justin Raisen, Zeds Dead, ILOVEMAKONNEN, and Sam Dew and longtime cohorts John Hill, Dave Sitek, and Doc McKinney. New App and Services Add Convenience and Efficiency to the Multi-Venue Music and Arts Festival
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (February 11, 2016) – Noise Pop Festival, the Bay Area’s premier indie music and arts festival, is teaming up with event discovery app DoStuff and rideshare company Lyft to bring music fans an exciting and convenient new way to get the most out of your festival experience. Noise Pop and DoStuff have created a mobile app, available for iPhone and Android, that will work in concert with Lyft to connect the music of this citywide, multi-venue festival and close the gap between venues, turning the city into a festival.
The 24-year-old festival now gives music fans the convenience of venue-hopping like walking between stages at an outdoor music festival, while maintaining the intimate and outstanding sound and stage shows offered by the best venues in the city. You can catch as many as five bands a night and see them play on five different stages.
Noise Pop attendees who download the DoStuff app, where the Festival’s page is located, will receive tailor-made and geo-targeted notifications—including updated set times the moment they walk into the venue and alerts to unannounced secret shows—in addition to general Festival information like maps, artist bios and venue details. And once you’ve built your custom schedule and have chosen the bands you want to see through the app, you will receive notifications on the best times to catch a Lyft to the next stage, making sure you are there to catch each set. Festival badge holders will also receive Lyft credit to get them started along with discount codes, adding affordability to the process.
For locals, the new app adds efficiency to their festival nights, allowing them to fit in their favorite artists at multiple venues in an evening. For those new to the Bay Area, it’s also a great way to tour the city via some of the best music venues in the country featuring a lineup of amazing performers. This year’s artists are among some of the most diverse in the festival’s history, featuring everything from indie and jazz to pop and hip-hop and including performances from Metric, American Football, Carly Rae Jepsen, The Mountain Goats, Vince Staples, Neon Indian, DIIV, Bill Callahan, Kamasi Washington, and many more.
