Kate Crash Shares "How We Play The Game" Video On Impose | 'To You Never Again' LP Out 6/16

LP 'To You Never Again' Out 6/16
WATCH & SHARE: Kate Crash - "How We Play The Game""“How We Play The Game” is a harrowing track, with confident vocals, centered on the anguish of relationships."
- Impose
Impose has shared Kate Crash's video for the track "How We Play The Game".  It's the first single off of Kate's upcoming album. When discussing the song Kate described it as, "Boy meets girl, psycho romance, every day's one last chance, a brutal cycle of Peter Pan pretend". "To You Never Again' is out 6/16.

Kate Crash is a Los Angeles-based songwriter, producer, filmmaker, entertainer, writer and multimedia artist.  In her teen years she made weird art, wrote poetry books, and played in punk and industrial bands.  After graduating from Cal Arts, she moved to Tokyo where she performed her music in surreal street shows and made avant garde films. When she came back to L.A. she was discovered and cultivated by legendary producer Nick Launay (Nick Cave, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Arcade Fire).  Launay produced 3 EP’s for Crash that were released under Joan Jett’s Blackheart Records and George Martin’s Grand Master.  She then released a dance-pop EP that she co-produced with various Grammy winners including Jimmy Harry, Jason Evigan, Ethan Kaufmann, and Ryosuke Sakai. Crash now writes, performs, and produces all her songs which are mixed and engineered by Ethan Kaufmann. Her influences run the gamut from Hole to Rachmaninov to Iggy Pop, David Bowie, JAMC, the Birthday Party, Max Martin produced pop gems, Ryan Adams, punk, hip hop, and glam.On June 16th Kate Crash’s first full length video album “To You Never Again” will be released.  Written, performed and recorded completely by Crash in her apartment, it combines hip hop beats with dark dreamy pop chorus’s and electric guitars.  It is accompanied by raw, hard hitting videos she created with director Ashley Walters, editor Linda Strawberry and actor Brett Grace.  They were shot two days in and around her apartment in order to maintain the vulnerable, volatile, and homemade feel of the album.  It's about a character hitting rock bottom, which causes them to realize that most of what they believe is just programming from childhood, society, and media.

Some of her current projects include: writing TV shows with director Catherine Hardwicke (Twilght, 13, Lords of Dogtown); writing, directing, and scoring the film “Messiah of Dogs”; creating a futuristic multimedia musical with long time collaborator and friend Michael J. Masucci; writing and producing songs for film and TV; and creating wild fashion that you can enjoy on her Instagram.

Tennis' critically acclaimed "Yours Conditionally" out now, new tour dates with Spoon

TENNIS’ YOURS CONDITIONALLY OUT
NOW ON MUTUALLY DETRIMENTAL
VIA THIRTY TIGERS
ALBUM GARNERS CRITICAL PRAISENEW SPRING TOUR DATES WITH SPOON[image error] [image error]
photo credit Luca Venter Yours Conditionally , the fourth full-length album from critically acclaimed group Tennis, is out now on Mutually Detrimental via Thirty Tigers and available at all record stores as well as via iTunes and Spotify. The record is the subject of early praise from NPR’s “Weekend Edition,” Interview MagazineWNew York Magazine and many more:
[image error]“Tennis thrives in isolation on Yours Conditionally.”

[image error]“Filled with melodies that evoke ’70s AM radio, [Yours Conditionally] sees them wrestle with the conditions of love and commitment. Their story and music remain romantic, but one’s reminded that while they’re ‘in it together,’ they’re also wholly individual.”[image error]“[Yours Conditionally] is less a product of crashing waves and more the result of Moore’s ongoing meditation on how she defines herself in relation to those around her and, as a self-professed feminist, how she navigates contemporary definitions of femininity and gender roles within a monogamous relationship.”[image error]“Your new favorite chill-wave escape.” [image error]“[‘Modern Woman’ is] gloriously, perfectly, very Tennis. The treatment of Alaina’s cushiony, layered vocals, the ’70s sparkle that's evident in the music…Tennis, it’s lovely to have you back.” [image error]“[‘Modern Woman’ is] a haunting, echoey ode to womankind.” [image error]“[‘In the Morning I’ll be Better’ is] a harmony-laden declaration of devotion.”“Moore’s voice is as melodious as ever, and the song [‘Ladies Don’t Play Guitar’] itself has that classic Tennis pep in its step. It’s perfect for catching sun on the high seas, but is also much needed social commentary on the expectations placed on female musicians.”

[image error]“The new record includes the lovely advance track ‘Ladies Don’t Play Guitar,’ as well as opener ‘In the Morning I’ll Be Better’ and the dreamy, dizzying ‘Modern Woman’…like ‘Ladies Don’t Play Guitar,’ ‘Modern Woman’ is a mannered, sarcastic meditation on womanhood, delivered with a dose of melancholy sincerity.” The new record was composed both on land and at sea during a five-month sailing trip through the Sea of Cortez. Upon returning, Tennis’ husband-and-wife team of Patrick Riley andAlaina Moore self-produced the record in a small cabin in Fraser, CO. It was mixed by Spoon’s Jim Eno at Public HiFi.The group recently premiered the video for the track “In The Morning I’ll Be Better” at Noisey (watch it at http://bit.ly/2h2LuZv) as well as the video for “Modern Woman” at W Magazine(watch it at http://bit.ly/2kSWJ57).Tennis is currently on tour throughout North America in support of the record. In addition to newly added dates including performances in Kansas City, Austin, Dallas, Houston and Indio, CA for Coachella, the band will be joining Spoon on tour in late April and May; see below for a list of shows. Now based in Denver, Moore and Riley began writing music together as a way to document the history of their time living aboard a sailboat. The result was their first release, Cape Dory.Moore and Riley followed Cape Dory with Young and Old, which The New Yorker described as “winsome as it is ebullient” and debuted #1 on Billboard’s Heatseeker Chart and #1 onCMJ Top 200, where it remained for three straight weeks. The album also debuted on Soundscan’s “New Artist Chart” at #1, remaining there for nine consecutive weeks. Their newest record comes on the heels of the group’s most recent release, 2014’s Ritual in Repeat, which received rave reviews from The New York Times, NPR’s “All Things Considered” and “Fresh Air,” TIMEVogue, Pitchfork, The FADEREntertainment Weekly and many more. The band has performed on “The Late Show with David Letterman,” “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “Conan” and “Last Call with Carson Daly.”

Lloyd Sachs' "T Bone Burnett: A Life in Pursuit" 3/30 Book Signing at Book Soup

Sachs 6438 F16 Lloyd Sachs discusses and signs "T Bone Burnett: A Life in Pursuit" March 30th at Book Soup in West Hollywood"First, and likely definitive portrait of the prolific and enigmatic producer/artist."
- Mojo Magazine"A much-needed critical biography of an influential artist, by a superior critic of the genre."
- Library JournalJoin author of T Bone Burnett: A Life in Pursit, Lloyd Sachs, in discussing his book about the music visionary March 30th at Book Soup in West Hollywood. Sachs will do a reading and will be signing copies. Unfortunately, Joe Henry will no longer be able to perform due to a scheduling conflict. This first critical appreciation of T Bone Burnett reveals how the proponent of Americana music and producer of the cream of the crop of artists has profoundly influenced American music and culture. Renowned as a studio maven with a Midas touch, Burnett is known for lifting artists to their greatest heights, as he did with Raising Sand, the multiple Grammy Award–winning album by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, as well as acclaimed albums by Los Lobos, the Wallflowers, B. B. King, and Elvis Costello.Burnett virtually invented “Americana” with his hugely successful roots-based soundtrack for the Coen Brothers film, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, which went on to sell 8 million albums. Outspoken in his contempt for the entertainment industry, Burnett has nevertheless received many of its highest honors, including Grammy Awards and an Academy Award.Sachs offers a critical acknowledgement of Burnett’s wide-ranging contributions to American music, his passionate advocacy for analog sound, and the striking contradictions that define his maverick artistry. Lloyd Sachs highlights all the important aspects of Burnett’s musical pursuits, from his early days as a member of Bob Dylan’s Rolling Thunder Revue and his collaboration with the playwright Sam Shepard to the music he recently composed for the TV shows Nashville and True Detective and his production of the all-star album Lost on the River: The New Basement Tapes. Sachs also underscores Burnett’s brilliance as a singer-songwriter in his own right. Going well beyond the labels "legendary” or “visionary” that usually accompany his name, T Bone Burnett reveals how this consummate music maker has exerted a powerful influence on American music and culture across four decades.Sachs is a nationally known voice on pop music and jazz for myriad publications ranging from Rolling Stone and Washington Post to Down Beat, Village Voice, USA Today and Jazz Times. He was a longtime music columnist and award-winning editorial writer at the Chicago Sun-Times and a senior editor at No Depression, the prized “alt-country” magazine.“T Bone Burnett proves that a producer can make as much of an artistic impact as a performer. Enjoyable, sparkling prose.” —Geoffrey Himes (Washington Post, No Depression and Paste)From the book: “T Bone Burnett now carries such weight in the entertainment capitals of Hollywood and Nashville that the title ‘record producer’ can contain him no more than ‘film director’ could contain Orson Welles. His O Brother soundtrack altered the landscape of Ameri-can music so markedly that it may well have affected our culture as significantly as Citizen Kane did. From his own critically acclaimed work as a singer and songwriter to his close associations with Bob Dylan and Sam Shepard—one of the greatest songwriters of our time and one of the greatest playwrights— to his outspoken efforts to overhaul digital recorded sound, Burnett’s accomplishments have made the musician-producer one of the most significant figures in popular culture during the past forty years.” Book Soup

Guided By Voices Share "Dr. Feelgood Falls Off The Ocean" On A.V. Club | Start U.S. Tour In April | 'August By Cake' Out 4/7

GUIDED BY VOICES SHARE "DR. FEELGOOD FALLS OFF THE OCEAN" ON A.V. CLUB
'AUGUST BY CAKE' OUT 4/7 IS ROBERT POLLARD’S 100TH ALBUM!

U.S. TOUR THIS SPRING + PLAYING COACHELLAPhoto Cred: Sandlin GaitherLISTEN & SHARE: Guided By Voices - "Dr. Feelgood Falls Off The Ocean" Guided By Voices August By Cake (April 7, GBV Inc Records) is the 100th studio album that Robert Pollard has released since 1986's Forever Since Breakfast. To put that in perspective, Bob Dylan has released roughly 39 studio albums since 1959. And that includes the Traveling Wilburys.

A highly anticipated record with the new line-up (returning GBV veterans Doug Gillard and Kevin March, virgins Bobby Bare Jr and Mark Shue) that has been wowing audience in clubs and festivals throughout 2016. It's the most musically adept and versatile line-up Pollard has ever assembled.

With 32 songs, August By Cake is also GBV's first ever double-album, and song contributions from all five bandmembers is additional icing on this particular cake, setting album #100 apart from the previous 99.

The double album is an important format in Pollard's own musical iconography, and he doesn't take the form lightly -- one reason he's planned and abandoned several would-be GBV double albums in the past is his high regard for foundational works like Quadrophenia, the White AlbumThe Lamb Lies Down on BroadwayDaydream NationZen ArcadeDouble Nickels On the Dime -- "defining records for these bands," says Pollard. It's important to him that August By Cake not just be a double album but that it be a great double album.

Spring tour dates, including Coachella Festival are below, and there are several surprises in store for 2017.

HANSON ANNOUNCES MIDDLE OF EVERYWHERE 25th ANNIVERSARY WORLD TOUR,HOP JAM FESTIVAL KICK OFF, GREATEST HITS RELEASE COMING IN 2017

The band will kick off the extensive world tour with a headlining set at their own rapidly growing festival The Hop Jam Beer and Music Festival, May 21st in Tulsa, OK.  "Making music together for 25 years is a milestone that we had to acknowledge, and what better way to do it than with an anniversary tour," said keyboardist Taylor Hanson. Added guitarist Isaac Hanson, "This year is not only about the two decades of music, it's about celebrating the incredible community of fans who have been with us, singing along year after year". Besides HANSON's 25th anniversary, 2017 is also the 20th anniversary of their debut release Middle Of Nowhere, lead by the iconic single "Mmmbop", which introduced the group to the world. The tour will feature performances of the group's most widely known material alongside fan favorites encompassing their extensive catalog. In select markets, Taylor Hanson will DJ the "Dance Like You Don't Care" after party, which will feature an eclectic mix of modern and 90's favorites. Coinciding with their benchmark 25th year together, over which the group has released six studio albums and sold over 16 million albums, later this year HANSON will also be releasing Middle Of Everywhere - The Greatest Hits, a comprehensive collection which includes hit singles "Mmmbop", "Where's The Love", "Weird ", "This Time Around", "If Only", "Penny And Me", "Thinking 'Bout Somethin'", "Get The Girl Back", plus their brand new single "I Was Born". Founded in 1992, the trio of brothers began performing classic rock 'n roll and soul music, and writing original material, crafting a unique blend of harmonies and organic soulful pop-rock. The group took the world by storm with their debut major release in 1997, ushering in a string of top 40 singles and establishing them as one of the world's leading artists. In 2003, the group founded their own independent 3CG Records, starting a new era for the band with their #1 independent album Underneath, featuring hit single "Penny And Me", positioning them among the most successful independent bands to date. Since then, HANSON has released 3 studio albums under their label, toured the world cultivating a vibrant global fanbase engaged by their dynamic live performances, and released an ongoing stream of special products direct to their devout fan community. In 2013, the group diversified its brand with the founding of their Hanson Brothers Beer Company, and in 2014 added The Hop Jam Beer and Music Festival based in their hometown of Tulsa, OK, which brings together artists and brewers from all over the world, culminating in one of the country's leading Craft Beer and Music Festivals with 40,000 in attendance, occurring this year on May 21st in Tulsa. “edgy pop” - The New Yorker

“If Kurt Cobain and PJ Harvey had a daughter she might write fuzzy quaalude-rock
tunes like this duo’s charismatic Annie Hardy” - SPIN

“The austerely funereal, organ-pumped ode “Batman” (named after the superhero onesie Silvio was wearing the day he died) echoes the fragile, childlike yearning of Daniel Johnston” - LA Weekly

“After my son died, it all had to come back out. … Writing these songs saved me.” - Annie Hardy

“It’s Mazzy Star for perverts, basically.” - Rolling Stone, Rob Sheffield

“Annie Hardy packs a punch, from her gauzy guitar tones to her arresting stage
presence to her potty mouth.” - The Los Angeles Times

Annie Hardy began her illustrious career as lead singer, songwriter and guitarist of Giant Drag over a decade ago. With accolades from NPRPitchfork,Stereogum and many more, she returns to the public eye with her debut solo effort titled  Rules . Annie has shared pleading lead single “ Want ” and introspective art-punk cut  “High Forever” . Today she unleashes “Shadow Mode”, a masterful punk storm of primal prose about wanting someone to come save you but finding they’re not willing or able to do so. “ Shadow Mode ” premiered with  Stereogum  today and is available to post/share  HERE .

Rules will be released April 7 on Full Psycho/American Primitive Recordswith contributions from Don Bolles (The Germs)Stephen McBean (Pink Mountaintops, Black Mountain)Petra Haden (That Dog)DJ Bonebrake (X) and Joe Cardamone (The Icarus Line). Crafted during a period of time during which she lost both her baby to SIDS at 17 days old as well as the baby’s father, her boyfriend Robert Paulson, the record is simultaneously beautiful and tragic.

Produced by Joe Cardamone of LA post-hardcore band The Icarus Line, onRules Annie trades in the grunge-pop grooves of Giant Drag for experimental art-punk, exposing her fragility in a way she never has before. Often compared to bands such as My Bloody Valentine and PJ Harvey, Giant Drag played Coachella and the Reading and Leeds festivals as well as touring with Scissor Sisters, Pretty Girls Make Graves, The Jesus and Mary Chain and many more. After surviving two years of incredible personal loss, Annie Hardy returns to release a powerful poignant solo debut.
