Talullah Ruff Shares "I Am Not" via Atwood Magazine | EP Out August 25th

TALULLAH RUFF SHARES "I AM NOT"
VIA ATWOOD MAGAZINE

DEBUT EP
WHAT IS HONEST

OUT AUGUST 25th, 2017photo cred: Lissy Elle
"Her low, mysterious voice propels the listener into an otherworldly space, and her songs feel tinged with something nostalgic and just out of reach."
Atwood Magazine

"...alt-rock tribute to questioning everything including yourself."
Ladygunn

"With a set of effortless vocals and a strong pop sensibility, NYC-based Talullah Ruff typically crafts radio-ready alt-blues tunes..."
The Deli NYC

"...pop music with an alt-blues twist."
All Things Go
NYC-based, alt-rock singer-songwriter Talullah Ruff announces her debut, self-produced EP,What Is Honestdue out August 25th, 2017. The EP was self-recorded in various locations - Ruff's apartment, her friends' NYU dorm room, the studio at Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music and Brooklyn DIY studio space, Mama Coco's Funky Kitchen. The EP was mastered by Grammy nominated Tom Waltz. Today, Talullah Ruff shares her new single, "I Am Not" via Atwood Magazine , who states, "There is a maturity in the song’s message, and somewhat of a callout to those who are made uncomfortable by others’ lives and choices."

Reflection lies at the core of Ruff's art, her lyrics acting as mirrors for what she internalizes about herself and her experiences of dejection. She seeks to create sonic worlds for her listeners, while also attempting to forge refuge and connection. With over 200 unreleased songs and 2 unpublished novels to her name, What Is Honest represents a curated collection of her works from freshman year of high school to her sophomore year in college. Blending 1970s-esque production with 1990s alt-rock songwriting and aesthetics, Ruff has built her own brand of art rock, in which she seeks to blend each eclectic side of herself. Using piano and vocals to drive forward her heart-rendering lyrics, her music suggests a nostalgic nod to her inspirations, such as Fiona Apple, Jeff Buckley and Tori Amos.

The album artwork, drawn and painted by Ruff herself, evokes a sense of rawness and honesty. The image of a half naked women with a flower head - with no intention to instill any level of shock-value - was meant to embody the simplistic beauty of the human body and the natural forms taken for granted or warped by our own misconceptions. The red rose symbolizes the stigmas that come with womanhood and others' expectations and projections onto Ruff. EP tracks such as, "I Am Not," and title track, "What Is Honest" touch on these influences - both external and internal - that evoke negativity and anxiety, but push through the issues with intricate lyrics and brazen vocal melodies.WHAT IS HONEST - TRACKLISTING

Joseph Arthur Announces Dates With Rodrigo & Gabriela

JOSEPH ARTHUR TO SUPPORT RODRIGO & GABRIELA FOR RUN OF SHOWS IN AUGUST  PERFORMING AT WOMAD FESTIVAL & IN LONDON THIS WEEKEND
July 26, 2017 – After completing a U.S. tour earlier this month in support of the 15th Anniversary of his classic album Redemption's Son, Joseph Arthur will now join Rodrigo & Gabriela on the road for a series of shows in the U.S. during August.  Tickets for all shows are on sale now. Joseph will also head to London for his only European performance of Redemption's Son in its entirety at the Borderline on Saturday July 29th.  Tickets are on sale now: http://www.ticketweb.co.uk/event/YGB2907Z ; He will also be appearing at this year's edition of the WOMAD Festival on July 28th: http://womad.co.uk/artist/joseph-arthur/
On June 23rd, Real World Records, re-issued the original album (with its original artwork) along with nine bonus tracks all of which have been previously unreleased.  Redemption’s Son 15th Anniversary Edition is available on 180-gram double LP, double CD, and digitally.  It is the first time the album is available on vinyl ever. The nine previously unreleased songs now form a “lost album” which Arthur has named Morning Star. “We decided to turn these tracks into their own album called 'Morning Star' rather than a collection of this that and the other thing,” Arthur remarked.  “It's a great feeling when the past burps up a gift. Things forgotten and submerged by the vortex of time which reveals its illusions thru a process such as this. First listens of old things are a lot like taking the wrapping paper off a gift. That excited smile comes over you (hopefully) and it's kinda wonderful. But soon you get transported back to the time these things were new and then they become fresh elements to work with. No more a gift but a responsibility. Like if you got a dog for Christmas. What they say about a work of art being never finished but abandoned is accurate. And I learned here that you can essentially un-abandon them. We took these old things and we set out to make something current.”

Masterful indie folk-pop trio Moonrise Nation will release their debut album,Glamour Childthis Friday, July 28 on Zinc Records, a label formed byBobby Z of Prince’s band, The Revolution. The band previously released the chillingly beautiful album track  “Eye to Eye”  with  Ghettoblaster  and title track  Glamour Child ,” (930K+ Spotify streams) which was inspired by a piece of art created by Arden and Eva’s grandmother, which they used for the album cover. The band’s Paste Magazine “Style Record” feature ran this week and today they reveal the “Common Fear” video via POPULAR TV. The video harnesses the song’s urgent and universal dilemma of many young people and adults, the fear of getting older, the fear of being vulnerable enough to be in love, and the fear of never knowing which steps are right to take on the path towards your future (whatever that may be). Directed by Will Reiland & R.A. Schwartz, the  “Common Fear” video  is available to post and share  HERE .

Hailing from Oak Park, Illinois, songwriting and vocal duties are equally shared between guitarist Emma McCall, keyboardist Arden Baldinger, and cellistEva Baldinger the latter two of which are sisters. Their storytelling is crafted from a very personal place, deftly sculpted into a layered, universal experience. Produced by Stephen Shirk (Alabama Shakes, Delta Spirit), the album captures the vertiginous, Millennial high-lows of self-confidence and doubt, happiness and practicality, innocence and reality, feminist strength and vulnerability.

The band will hit the road this summer, serving up their unique, dynamic mix of swoony delicacy and anthemic pop peaks to audiences across the country. Be sure to catch Moonrise Nation live in a city near you. Full list of dates  HERE or see below.

TERA MELOS share new song via NPR, announce album and tour w/ Speedy Ortiz supporting

Tera Melos share first song from forthcoming album via NPRTour in October-November w/ Speedy Ortiz supporting

Photo credit: Ron Harrell Tera Melos  announce their forthcoming third album today and share the first track via NPR. Hear and share "Don't Say I Know"  HERE . (Direct  YouTube HERE .)
Tera Melos also announce an extensive North American headlining tour with Speedy Ortizsupporting. Please see current dates below.
Trash Generator, the trio's third full length, is an astonishing blast of confidence and rejuvenation. It sounds as if the 4-year downtime since their last album has recharged the band with an entirely new sense of purpose. The performances are brilliant and sharp, the songs concise yet intricately detailed, and the album production deftly captures the band's strength as a live unit. Their dalliances with mellower psychedelic phrases on their previous two albums, X'ed Out (2013) and Patagonian Rats(2010) are significantly trimmed and instead utilized as colorations within a swirling maelstrom of righteous aggro punk-jazz abandon. As such, it sounds like Tera Melos has fully metabolized their pop tendencies and found a way they can coexist with the band's iconoclast origins. Tera Melos -- guitarist/vocalist Nick Reinhart, bassist Nathan Latona and drummer John Clardy -- have learned to stop worrying and just be Tera Melos.
Perhaps to understand Trash Generator, we must look at the situations leading up to it...
"We toured consistently for 19 months after X'ed Out was released in 2013," Latona explains. "We did two full US headliners, four full US support tours, a Japanese tour, a month in Europe, and a run of shows in the UK and Ireland. When we finished, we were pretty exhausted and frustrated." It had seemed that after all of that work, not much had changed for the band. Tera Melos took a short holiday break, which eventually turned into two years as each of them pursued other interests. "I found myself at ease with the idea of not worrying about ticket sales, strategic tours, units moved, likes, clicks, views, and the short-fused moodiness of living in a van with two other people," Latona says. In that downtime, Reinhart remained active in multiple endeavors: contributing guitar to Death GripsThe Powers That B and Bottomless Pit albums + the I.L.Y.'s (Zach Hill and Andy Morin's other band), Big Walnuts Yonder (with Mike WattNels Cline and Greg Saunier), Goblin Cock,Portugal.the man and many others. Latona completed a college degree he'd put off for 11 years. Clardy became and integral faculty member at the School of Rock in Dallas/Ft. Worth, inspiring young musicians with his real-world approach to learning music.
For every touring band there's a subtle pressure -- from fans, industry, promoters, family -- that the band is supposed to be on a constantly rising trajectory of success. Regardless of the group's own potentially esoteric goals, if you're not reaching for the "next level" at every turn, you're supposedly not doing it right. Tera Melos thought long and hard about it, and said, "fuck it."
"Wth this record it was 100% let's not concern ourselves with what we should be doing at this point in the band's lifespan, and just fully focus on what makes us happy," Reinhart says. "Making a new record seemed like a fun act of defiance," Latona adds. "The odds are against bands like us, but despite all the negativity involved in trying to struggle and survive as an artist, we made Trash Generator because we just wanted to get together, have some fun, and make something that we think is cool."
The trio decamped to San Diego in late 2016 to record at Singing Serpent Studios with Ben Moore (Hot SnakesPinback). It was their first time recording in a continuous block of time, rather than the piecemeal stealth late night sessions at friends' studios of previous efforts. It gave the band a razor-sharp focus atop of their beholden-to-none attitude. "We stayed in a spare place at Rob Crow's house which had a barracks kind of feel to it," Clardy explains. "We'd come home exhausted each day and fall asleep within an hour. It was very spartan when away from the studio." That mindset clearly informs the direct, in-your-face energy of Trash Generator
Album opener "System Preferences" starts things off with a simmering energy built upon a short 3-note bass loop and Reinhart's trademark whispersational Syd Barrett-esque vocals setting the stage for Gang Of Four style chopping guitar lines and rollicking toms. "Dyer Ln" pits a twangy guitar and a slice-n-dice rhythm section against each other with subtle sleight of hand (and foot) between Clardy and Latona. Elsewhere, "Don't Say I Know" showcases the band's brilliant synthesis of pop hooks with lightning fast shifts of rhythm, style, tone and mood - often within the same measure. The title track centers around syncopated, angular arpeggiated guitar notes building into an explosive chorus with the catchy, odd chorus refrain, "trash generator/ I'm not a bad guy." Reinhart has gained considerable notoriety in the musician's gear world in recent years from his contributions to Juan Alderete's "Pedals and Effects" blog/YouTube channel and their viral "100 Pedals" video. HIs knowledge of and skill with employing countless guitar pedals to accentuate his playing is tastefully on full display throughout the album. Latona and Clardy, not to be outdone, shine like never before as the band effortlessly slips back into their own unique and jaw-dropping musical vocabulary.
Trash Generator will be available everywhere August 25th, 2017 on LP, CD, click, like and download via Sargent House. Pre-orders for LP/CD via HelloMerch and download via  iTunes .

Warbly Jets to release self-titled debut album on Oct 20 // Pre-Order now available

TO RELEASE SELF-TITLED DEBUT ALBUM ON OCTOBER 20
"4th COMING BOMB" DEBUTS AT FLAUNT
SUMMER TOUR STARTS TOMORROW AT THE ROXY IN LA CONTINUING TO EUROPE IN THE FALLPhoto: Marko Prelic Stream & Share: 4th Coming Bomb

"Starting off with soft, synthesized beats, “4th Coming Bomb” detonates into a full-out jam by melding together buoyant drum lines and guitar chords into a rhythm that’ll have both your hips swaying and your heart aching for October."
Flaunt: “4th Coming Bomb” Premiere

New York, NY (July 25, 2017) – Ask synth player Julien O'Neill how  Warbly Jets  fits into LA's music scene and he'll have a simple answer for you: they don't. They exist out there in the ether—caught somewhere in between yesterday and today, where massive rock 'n' roll melodies brush up against skittish breakbeats, swoon-worthy strings, and laser-guided synth lines. Warbly Jets will release its self-titled debut album on October 20 via Rebel Union Recordings and the album is available for pre-order at PledgeMusic and iTunes.

Despite a lack of allegiance to any sound or place, since the release of their debut single " Alive " and the slithering music industry indictment " The Lowdown " the four piece has grown explosively and earned praise from Brooklyn Vegan, Indie Shuffle, Self-Titled, Live FAST, KROQ, 91X and LA Weekly and climbed the charts of Spotify, VEVO and Apple Music. Today,  Flaunt  debuts the third album track with " 4th Coming Bomb ", a cacophony of melody where each instrument holds it’s own hook while their rhythms mash together in demented ways.

"The music mirrors the message," says the band. We’re all trying to live and breathe in this world at the same time, not noticing if we’re hurting or helping one another. It works for now, but might explode at any second."

The lyrics were inspired by singer/guitarist Samual Shea's favorite quotes by writer Eugene Bell, "Aspire to inspire before you expire."

"This quote alway shaped that way I create music," he says. "I hope that as an artist I can leave a lasting impression and inspire the creatives of our future even after i'm no longer around."

PHOENIX ANNOUNCES NORTH AMERICAN TOUR DATES

PHOENIX ANNOUNCES NORTH AMERICAN TOUR DATESNEW ALBUM TI AMO OUT NOW
Photo credit: Shervin LainezPhoenix have added several North American tour dates this October. The band will stop in Columbus, Detroit, Washington D.C. and more in support of their critically lauded new album  Ti Amo , which was released on June 9th via Loyaute/Glassnote Records.
Watch the band's dazzling performance of their singles "J-Boy" and "Ti Amo" on  Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Praise for Phoenix and Ti Amo: "It may be the band's most unabashedly romantic record yet..." -  New York Times
"...from the two glittering promo tracks from Ti Amo ("J-Boy" and the title track), it seems all but certain that Phoenix will be keeping pace -- sexy, synthy, enigmatic discotheque pace -- with their upcoming sixth album." - Billboard
"Phoenix albums - all of them - sound like being in love..." -  Vulture
"The band have found a sweet spot, where their past can carry their present to huge, accepting audiences." -  Consequence of Sound
"Listen to Ti Amo at the right time, in the right mood, and it might start to sound like a symbol of a better world, or at least a welcome respite from the worst parts of this one." -  MTV
"...Ti Amo is tightly composed, but so steeped in breezy, hazy romanticism that you might forget that you're listening to a thing that started as nothing, that was labored over for years... And if Phoenix can make you forget how hard they're working, maybe they can make you forget how hard you're working too-the highest achievement of pop music. A safe haven, so to speak." -  GQ
"Phoenix found a way to stay lively and starry-eyed when the world is closing in; the romantic, inclusive vibe of songs like 'J-Boy' and 'Fior di Latte' counteract the received wisdom that we have to get grimmer in grim times. A beautiful album like this might not turn back the tide on its own, but it'll remind you of how the world should be." -  Spin

Alvvays Release New Song "Dreams Tonite," New Album Out September 8th

ALVVAYS RELEASE NEW SONG "DREAMS TONITE"
ANTISOCIALITES OUT ON SEPTEMBER 8TH ON POLYVINYL

Click Here To Listen To "Dreams Tonite"
The sophomore album from Alvvays titled Antisocialites is set for release on September 8th. Across its 10 tracks and 33 minutes, the Toronto-based group dive back into the deep end of reckless romance and altered dates. Perversely enjoyable dark drama springs from lead singer Molly Rankin's phonetic twists, quick-sung rhymes and irreverent syllable-play.
After releasing crowd pleaser "In Undertow" last month, the band have today given us another track titled "Dreams Tonite" which dives deeper into the emotional territory Alvvays are known for.  Rankin sings "So morose for me, seeing ghosts of me, writing oaths to me," on the Cocteau-pop stunner, the song from which the album's name is derived. "In fluorescent light, antisocialites watch a wilting flower."
To write Antisocialites, Rankin traveled to Toronto Island - working in an abandoned classroom by day and sleeping a few feet from shore at night - to avoid a stifling heat wave in the city. "I carried a small PA on the ferry in a wheelbarrow," she recalls. "Every morning I would listen to my favorite records on the beach, then I'd write melodies and record demos in the classroom." After tracking with keyboardist Kerri MacLellan and bassist Brian Murphy at Kingsize in LA, Rankin and guitarist Alec O'Hanley continued recording and mixing in their Toronto basement.
