I’m from nowhere. That’s the way I feel about it now, right at this moment. Music took me and made me and gave me a purpose and I built my world with it, and now my geography is a musical one, forever. And when I break, when I think about running as far as I can, I remember that there is nothing that does me like music, and I might as well be a poor man in a world of my own devising. Hallelujah anyhow.Rhythm? I learned it over twenty years in the back of rented vans, in attics and back rooms—hard places to get to, harder places to get out of. And now rhythm is my clock and I live by it. We all do. But it’ll kill you if you’re not careful. It might kill you even if you are. Hallelujah anyhow. I see the dark clouds. I was designed to see them. They’re the same clouds of fear and destruction that have darkened the world since Revelations, just different actors. But this music is for hope. That’s the only thing I want to say about it. Love is the only way out. I’ve never been afraid of the darkness; it’s just a different kind of light. And if some days that belief comes harder than others, hallelujah anyhow.Whatcha gonna do when the wall comes down?
When the wall comes down?
What you ought to do is let it lie—let it lie
And in the gathering darkness vow to never go back
It was built by man and you can tear it down
Tear it down, tear it down
Step back, Jack, from the darkness I’ve seen darker things than night. Hallelujah anyhow.—M.C. Taylor, July 2017 Hallelujah Anyhow tracklist:

Debut EP Out Now On Fan Out Records
“one of the catchiest tunes of the summer” – Northern Transmissions

"atmospheric beats, soothing vocals and urgent lyrics" – PureVolume

Drop The Gun is the latest project by Danish singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and DJ Sara Savery. Yesterday, she shared the swirling, synth wave“Deeper” Blue Foundation Remix with Northern Transmissions. The original track comes off her debut self-titled EP which was released June 23rd via Fan Out Records. About the remix, Sara comments:
“I've worked with Blue Foundation many times over the past few years and really dig their sound, so I was excited to receive the remix from them. I love how the vocals are completely dry and the beat is just so dope! The first time I heard the added harmonies I smiled. It made me think of the movie 'The Umbrellas of Cherbourg' which I love (the Michel Legrand soundtrack is amazing)...I'm super happy to be able to share this remix - enjoy!”
Brooklyn/Copenhagen based dream-pop collective Blue Foundation have gained major recognition in the past for their song “Eyes on Fire”, reaching #3 on the iTunes Electronic Music Chart in 2014 and garnering over 35 million YouTube plays. In addition, the Zeds Dead remix of the song has garnered over 110 million YouTube plays. The band has also worked with notable artists such as Mark Kozelek, Erika Spring, and Jonas Bjerre (Mew). Drop The Gun’s Sara Savery has co-written, signed, and recorded with Blue Foundation in the past, and her recently released Drop The Gun EP was also mixed by Blue Foundation’s lead singer and founder Tobias Wilner.
On Drop The Gun’s debut EP, Sara emerges with a seven track collection that embodies the glamorous yet raw vibe that is still very much present in the streets and clubs of New York. Written, recorded, and produced by Savery herself, the result is a rich, lustful, and intimate soundscape highlighted by saturated arrangements, quirky synths, and lush vocals.

Geographer Takes A Leap Forward With Blossoming And Contemplative 'Alone Time' EP

Geographer, the San Francisco indie-pop quartet led by multi-instrumentalist Mike Deni, will bring their spellbinding live show to 25 cities coast to coast this summer, including special performances with Betty Who and a stop at NYC's Brooklyn Steel. The band will perform songs from Deni's brand new, forthcoming 'Alone Time' EP, the follow up to his 2015 LP 'Ghost Modern' which Nerdist praised for its "sweet and airy vocals atop soaring, string-enhanced electronic compositions."
Deni is a compelling front man, known for captivating crowds with his crisp vocals and magnetic stage presence, and the addition of Joyce Lee on electric cello adds a unique element to the band's performances, which Ladygunn has called, "dynamic, magnetic and expressive."
The 'Alone Time' EP, which will be released this fall, is a leap forward for Geographer and sees him refining his brand of blossoming, emotive pop, while pushing the boundaries of his dreamy yet expansive synth-driven, cello-adorned sound. Deni's candid and contemplative lyrics read like a diary entry, exploring themes of love, loss and self-doubt, though his hook-driven melodies and finely crafted orchestral arrangements remain bubbly and optimistic. SPIN appropriately called Geographer, "tailor-made for your own personal late-night dance party."
Geographer is made up of Deni on lead vocals, guitar and keys, Lee on synths and electric cello, Duncan Nielsen on guitar, bass, vocals and keys, and Cody Rhodes on drums. The band will perform almost all of the songs from the new EP, giving fans an early taste of what's to come.
Geographer was born when Deni found a synthesizer on the streets of San Francisco, shortly after moving there from his home state of New Jersey following a series of deaths in his family. He used that instrument to write what would become the first Geographer songs, and since then has continued to produce the driving, heart-pounding, synth-infused epics that define his sound.
Geographer embarks on tour with Betty Who on August 10th. Full routing below.

"Part pop, part ’80s new wave... a dreamy ballad filled with reverb-soaked harmonies and neurotic drum machines." - BULLETTCollapsing Scenery shares their new video "Tired Blood" (dir. by Hunter Crowder) via BULLETT. The band's Reggie Debris explains that the track is about "the fatigue and exhaustion that can set in after years of activism, when nothing seems to change or things seem to get actively worse." You can check out the video here. Collapsing Scenery will be playing two NYC shows this week + a Philadelphia show, more info below:
TOUR DATES
07.25 - The Pyramid Club (w/ James Chance, Miho Hatori) - New York, NY
07.26 - 367 Bedford Ave. - Brooklyn, NY
07.29 - Ortlieb's - Philadelphia, PACollapsing Scenery’s music and creative process represent the world as the band wishes the world were: playful, polyglot, intense, committed, politically engaged, free, open, and without boundaries or hierarchies. The band formed in the terrible autumn of 2013, under a pall of paranoia and disgust, as predator missiles rained on Middle Eastern heads and each day brought news of further surveillance of innocents and more aggressive pursuit of those who had the nerve to inform us about it.Against this backdrop, erstwhile collaborators Don De Vore and Reggie Debris put aside the stringed instruments on which they’d first learned to play music and on which they were comfortable and versed, and assembled an impressive pile of analog electronics: samplers, step sequencers, synths and drum machines, all supplemented by effects pedals usually applied to guitars. From the largely improvised sessions, many accompanied by drummer Ryan Rapsys, the seeds of songs began their germination. Lyrics that Debris had been amassing over years of political rage and frustration began to find their homes when paired with ad-libbed instrumentals. Melodies and cadences alchemically emerged as the words settled into their natural rhythmic patterns. These elements create dizzying music that by turns touches on punk, industrial, techno, hip-hop, free jazz, soul, disco, folk balladry, and whatever other spirits happen to inhabit the recording studio at any given moment.

‘You’ll adore these muffled melodies and dolorous, drifting elegies.’ – The Guardian‘Lovely dream pop.’ – The Fader
It’s not so often that a band’s name truly reflects their sound, but when it comes to Swedish solo pop act Summer Heart (David Alexander), you can expect just that; hazy, sun- bleached tracks that are the perfect anthem to remembering hot July nights filled with skinny dipping and sleeping in.Following the release of countless EPs and singles, including the most recent release, 2016’s Colours EP, Alexander wrote a lot of music, including two full-length albums that he eventually decided not to release. Now, he is set to release second full length 101 in August 2017, a piece of work that is decidedly, uniquely, confidently Summer Heart. Recorded in Malmo and Stockholm, Sweden early 2017, the record was inspired by Alexander’s time in NYC, discovering the city and observing the city’s residents.
“The record can be seen as a ten track love story, with ups and downs and all the in-betweens... never being satisfied, always wanting more, grass is greener on the other side." Alexander says. With inspirations being taken from more than just music (think style, photography, literature, nature,), 101 feels a lot like the soundtrack to a home video from a long ago roadtrip or a summer barbecue with friends. While you might get the dream pop vibe, (akin to bands like Washed Out, Blood Orange, and Toro y Moi), Alexander’s sound is familiar yet all his own.
101 is set for release 8/25/2017, pre-order available here.

In April 2017 Sylvan Esso assembled a live band comprised of their close friends and collaborators- members of Mountain Man, Wye Oak, The Dead Tongues, The Mountain Goats and Megafaun- to arrange and record full-band versions of songs from their new album What Now. The band took this experiment to Echo Mountain Studios, located in the mountains of North Carolina, and cut five songs live in one day. The result, the Echo Mountain Sessions visual EP, is a testament to the New York Times’ declaration that “Sylvan Esso Keeps Electronic Pop Human”. These bold re-imaginations from the band’s celebrated sophomore album, What Now, highlight Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn’s songwriting craft and the boundlessly talented North Carolina musical community from which they hail. Never ones to rest, Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn continue to push themselves and expand on what Sylvan Esso can be. The Echo Mountain Sessions visual EP will be released July 28th, the band has also launched pre-orders for a limited edition vinyl release of the sessions available exclusively HERE.
Nick and Amelia chatted with Bob Boilen at All Songs Considered about the visual EP and will be rolling out a video a day, beginning with today's version of "Rewind".

What Now was released in April to widespread critical acclaim, with Variety proclaiming it “a sophomore effort that sees them progressing as far in one album as most groups do in two or three.“ They debuted their pulse-thumping single on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and reached #1 on Sirius AltNation this week. What Now has already amassed 40 Million streams globally (5 times their debut album at the same point), currently averaging 1 Million streams per week 1.5 Million monthly listeners on Spotify alone. The album debuted at #3 on the Alternative charts, positioning it well within the Billboard Top 200. What Now has racked up 60,000 albums sold (SEA) worldwide, in just 90 days.
Sylvan Esso’s electric live shows continue to sell out and they are gearing up for a massive summer tour that kicks off with performances at Celebrate Brooklyn’s Prospect Park Bandshell and Lollapalooza, a sold out west coast tour and culminating with their own one-day festival at Shakori Hills in North Carolina.

Minus the Bear announce fall tour w/ Silversun Pickups
MINUS THE BEAR ANNOUNCE NORTH AMERICAN FALL TOUR WITH SILVERSUN PICKUPS
NEW ALBUM VOIDS OUT NOWON SUICIDE SQUEEZE RECORDS

Minus the Bear is thrilled to announce an extensive fall tour of North America with Silversun Pickups in continued support of their new album VOIDS, out now on Suicide Squeeze Records. The album won praise from the likes of Noisey who lauded the “dichotomy between dark imagery and danceable, inventive rock,” and Relix who called the album “an exceptionally cohesive effort that ranks among the best of its catalog to date.” Last week, the band appeared on AV Club’s “Undercover” series, where they expertly covered Fugazi’s “Waiting Room” (and accidentally busted the show’s brand new neon sign). Watch that video below and see a list of all upcoming tour dates including dates this August in Australia.

For the past 15 years Minus the Bear have made music on their own terms while carving out their own unique musical world, selling over 500k records in the process and playing to countless sold out crowds along the way. This isn’t to say they’re impervious to outside influence. They’ve borrowed components from a wide swath of genres—the brainy clangor of New York’s proto-punk scene, the cerebral buzz of IDM, the poptimist evaluation of hip-hop and R&B, and the grandiose visions of prog rock—but always managed to defy classification.
On their sixth album VOIDS, produced by Sam Bell (The Cribs, Weezer, Bloc Party, Two Door Cinema Club), Minus the Bear started with a blank slate, and inadvertently found themselves applying the same starting-from-scratch strategies that fueled their initial creative process. “There was a lot of change and uncertainty,” says guitarist David Knudson. “I think the general vibe of emptiness, replacement, lacking, and longing to fill in the gaps was very present in everyones’ minds.”
Minus The Bear is Jake Snider (vocals, guitar), Dave Knudson (guitar), Cory Murchy (bass guitar), and Alex Rose (synthesizers, vocals).
