Featuring back-to-back singles  ‘The Whip’  and  ‘IRL’ , the new album explores the duality of human life in the digital age – largely inspired by writers, scientists and philosophers including George Orwell, Zygmunt Bauman, Noam Chomsky, Naomi Klein, Yuval Noah Harari and Simon Sinek, alongside the more pop-cultured forecasts of sci-fi series Westworld and Black Mirror.

Neil Finn to live stream recording of new album

NEIL FINN TO PERFORM ON A LIVE STREAM EACH FRIDAY IN AUGUST
NEW ALBUM, OUT OF SILENCE,TO BE RECORDED ON FINAL LIVE STREAM FRIDAY AUGUST 25 AND RELEASED ON SEPTEMBER 1

Neil Finn has been experimenting with live streaming performances since 2003. It's a platform that suits his spontaneous and intimate style of performance. Now he has announced his intention to record a brand new album in full view, live on the internet.
Explaining his vision, Finn said today, "Every Friday in August at 7pm NZT / 5pm AEST, I will be performing on a live stream from my studio in Auckland. During these Friday sessions you will be witness to a series of musical happenings featuring friends, family, fellow songwriters and singers playing tunes both old and brand new.  You can follow the progress of new song arrangements as we build towards the last stream on August 25. This final performance will be the actual recording of my new solo album."
Finn invites fans to watch and listen to him and his exotic ensemble record the whole album, live in one session on August 25. His new album entitled OUT OF SILENCE will then be mixed, mastered and released on the following Friday, September 1.
The stream will be accessible via the Neil Finn Facebook page.
Stay tuned for more updates and information.

Guided By Voices Stream New LP On Magnet | U.S. Tour Starts In August | 'How Do You Spell Heaven' Out 8/11

GUIDED BY VOICES STREAM NEW LP ON MAGNET
'HOW DO YOU SPELL HEAVEN' OUT 8/11

U.S. TOUR STARTS IN AUGUSTListen & Share: Guided By Voices - 'How Do You Spell Heaven' LP
Listen & Share: Guided By Voices - "Just To Show You" Guided By Voices is on a roll. You could argue, but please don't because I have a headache, that GBV is never not on a roll, that Robert Pollard's output plows past the word "prolific" like prolific is standing still in a snowbank; and that's true, but this new version of the band (Doug Gillard, Bobby Bare Jr, Mark Shue, Kevin March) has given Pollard new tools to complement his song-hammer. Thus, ergo, quod erat demonstrandum: roll.

Hot on the heels of the smothered-in-plaudits double album August By Cake comes this hot and heavy fifteen-tune long player, a melody-dense thwack to the earholes that will both energize you and deplete your body of its remaining music-appreciation enzymes. Recorded by the band in New York, and by Bob in Ohio, How Do You Spell Heaven capitalizes on the current incarnation's tour-buffed shine without sacrificing eternal GBV verities such as but not limited to: off-kilter rhythmic jolts; krazy chords; purposefully imperfect harmonies; and fragmented structures that start and stop on a coin of small denomination and go somewhere else, and quickly.

For example: Leadoff track "The Birthday Democrats" features a surfeit of pop hooks and swaggering sure-footed wordplay before dissolving like a perfect dream into Beatles-esque sound collage. "King 007" starts off like an acoustic demo from Tommy before shifting gears into a galloping riff-driven hyperspace guitar battle, before pivoting back to some kind of weirdo hybrid of the two… and then stops short just when you think you've got the thing pinned down. "Pearly Gates Smoke Machine" opens like the best thing Marc Bolan ne
There's more, much more, but you know that already. The easiest, laziest way to sum up Guided By Voices' latest album, the move we can't fail to resist making, is the most obvious: How do you spell heaven? Shout it from the rafters: G-B-V! Guided By Voices Tour Dates:August

Tori Amos Debuts "Cloud Riders" w/ NPR Music, Pitchfork “In Sight Out” Event + Nat'l Tour Supporting 'Native Invader' Out 9/8 On Decca Records

TORI AMOS

"Part swagger, part reflection, it both smolders and shimmers ..." –  NPR Music

Tori Amos © Paulina Otylie Surys
One of the most successful, prolific and influential artists of her generation, Tori Amos will release her hotly-anticipated new album September 8, 2017 onDecca Records. First album track “Cloud Riders debuted with  NPR Music  and is available to post/share  HERE .

Tori Amos shares her inspiration behind “Cloud Riders,”

“Before the Storm, at 4:22 AM,
I saw a shooting star.
Some Storms are electrifying
but some Storms are deadly.
Life Changing.
Some resolve themselves,
Some don't.
Conflicts can be that way.
You don't know how a conflict is going to play out when you are in the middle of it.
And the one thing I have learned is that when the Cloud Riders are coming, they cannot be outrun.”

Amos’s fifteenth album is an intense feast of melody, protest, tenderness and pain. In the summer of 2016, she took a road trip through North Carolina’s Smoky Mountains. The intention was to reconnect with the stories and songlines of her mother’s family, who were from the North Carolina and Tennessee Smoky Mountain area. That winter, two seismic events knocked the plan off its axis. The fall out from the US Election. And in January her mother, Maryellen Amos, suffered a severe stroke leaving her unable to speak.

The complex influence of America’s alt-right Super PACs, lobbyists and think tanks informs much of the tension in Native Invader. “It wasn’t going to be a record of pain, blood and bone when I began,” she says. “It wasn’t going to be a record of division. But the Muses 9 insisted that I listened and watched the conflicts that were traumatizing the nation and write about those raw emotions.  Hopefully people will find strength and resilience within the songs to give them the energy to survive the storms that we are currently in”. The sense of semantic distortion permeates Native Invader. Amos talks of the need to form a “militia of the mind” in the face of national lies. Hidden messages and subliminal protests lend themselves perfectly to Amos’s natural playfulness. For all its dark themes, this album is a joy to absorb, full of warmth and puzzles.

More than two decades after her debut studio album Little Earthquakes -- recently hailed by NPR as #27 of 150 Greatest Albums Made By Women -- Tori’s work is as powerful as ever. A select group of fans will get to hear a more in-depth conversation about the album at the sold-out Pitchfork “In Sight Out” event on August 8 in NYC, hosted by Jill Mapes. Tori Amos’ extensive North American fall concert schedule kicks off on October 24 (complete itinerary below). The North American concert dates are part of a larger world tour she begins in September in Europe.

Following 2014’s Unrepentant Geraldines – her eighth Billboard Top 10 album -- Native Invader is Tori’s fifteenth studio album and will be made available in various physical and digital configurations, as well as vinyl later this fall. The physical CD package will be available in standard as well as deluxe offerings; the latter includes a hardcover book and two bonus tracks.

A pioneer across multiple platforms, Tori was the first major label artist to offer a single for download. Nominated for multiple Grammy Awards, she has had her songs turned into graphic novels and has produced ground-breaking videos throughout her career. In late 2016 she released the title song ‘Flicker’ to the acclaimed Netflix documentary ‘Audrie and Daisy’, addressing issues of high school rape. A noted humanitarian, Tori is co-founder of RAINN (Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network), which is the United States’ largest anti-sexual assault organization.

SYLVAN ESSO RELEASE FINAL VIDEO FOR "RADIO" ECHO MOUNTAINS SESSIONS VISUAL EPOUT TODAY
WATCH ALL FIVE VIDEOS AT NPR BELOWON MASSIVE TOUR NOW!

For the past week, Sylvan Esso has been releasing a series of videos that make up their Echo Mountain Sessions Visual EP via NPR. The band talked to Bob Boilen at All Songs Considered to chat about the unique collaborations involved and the making of the EP.  Today, NPR posted the final video for their popular single "Radio" You can watch it HERE.
In April 2017 Sylvan Esso assembled a live band comprised of their close friends and collaborators- members of Mountain Man, Wye Oak, The Dead Tongues, The Mountain Goats and Megafaun- to arrange and record full-band versions of songs from their new album What Now. The band took this experiment to Echo Mountain Studios, located in the mountains of North Carolina, and cut five songs live in one day. The result, the Echo Mountain Sessions visual EP, is a testament to the New York Times’ declaration that “Sylvan Esso Keeps Electronic Pop Human”. These bold re-imaginations from the band’s celebrated sophomore album, What Now, highlight Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn’s songwriting craft and the boundlessly talented North Carolina musical community from which they hail. Never ones to rest, Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn continue to push themselves and expand on what Sylvan Esso can be. The Echo Mountain Sessions visual EP was released today and the band has also created a limited edition vinyl release available exclusively HERE.

What Now was released in April to widespread critical acclaim, with Variety proclaiming it “a sophomore effort that sees them progressing as far in one album as most groups do in two or three.“ They debuted their pulse-thumping single on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and reached #1 on Sirius AltNation this week.  What Now has already amassed 40 Million streams globally (5 times their debut album at the same point), currently averaging 1 Million streams per week 1.5 Million monthly listeners on Spotify alone.   The album debuted at #3 on the Alternative charts, positioning it well within the Billboard Top 200.  What Now has racked up 60,000 albums sold (SEA) worldwide, in just 90 days.
The band just played an incredible show at a packed Prospect Park Bandshell for Celebrate Brooklyn. They'll continue on next week with shows at Lollapalooza and a long list of mostly sold out headlining dates. They'll also launch their own one day festival at Shakori Hills in North Carolina, playing with friends like Tune-Yards, Wye Oak, Helado Negro, Well$. See all tour dates below.
