“It's a wild feeling releasing something that's been living inside the safe corridors of my heart for the last few years. Like releasing a bird that has finally earned its right to fly. I think it's important for you to know we made this record with joy and musical freedom. Any time the idea of past expectations, pressure to perform, or commerce came into the creative picture, we tried our best to push it out and lock the door.

We live in a trying time right now. Racism, sexism, classism, homophobia, and religious persecution are more rampant than ever. This record was made in defiance against those cancerous ideas. Hopefully it makes you feel as it made us feel when we were working on it - that life is beautiful. And love will always be bigger than politics.”

With love,
Mark

Holy Fuck Release "Bird Brains" EP Today - DL & Stream Here

HOLY FUCK SHARE NEW BIRD BRAINS EPOUT NOW VIA INNOVATIVE LEISURE

FOR PRESS PURPOSES  DOWNLOAD & STREAM
Toronto based noise-band Holy Fuck are releasing their 4-song EP  Bird Brains  today via LA's Innovative Leisure, their first since 2016's much lauded LP  Congrats Bird Brainswas recorded live at various studios over the past few years. The EP represents the ongoing creative process of a band whose members live in different cities (in both Canada and the US) yet insist their music should be a collaborative process.
These four songs aim to capture the raw energy of four people, not apart as bedroom producers, but together as a spirited exchange of ideas, a dynamic interaction that comes from years of friendship. While Bird Brains was largely self-produced, a few very talented Engineers/Producers aided greatly in that process, including Shawn Everett (John Legend, Warpaint, Alabama Shakes), who recorded the song "Chains" at The Banff Centre for the Arts, and David Wrench (Caribou, FKA Twigs, The XX) who mixed the song "New Dang".
Accompanying the EP is the visual piece for the title track an incredibly charismatic bird hosts a party wilder than anything you'll see all summer. Director Allison Johnston wanted "to explore the idea of mass hysteria, and how easily a group will follow the most confident person in the room. The party in the video is what I grew up believing they always were before I had ever been to one. I wanted every party to be Nelly's "Hot in Herre."
Bird Brains is available here.

Ice Balloons (TVOTR, Samiam, Surfbort) Drops a NSFW "Anti-Disney" Video + Tourdates

Ice Balloons Premieres Video for

“Fallen Family”

WATCH NOW via

 BROOKLYN VEGAN

Tour Dates Announced
Fiesta  is out on August 11th 2017 via  Volar Records

“Fallen Family” is a two minute twisted tale directed by the “anti-Disney” animator Jim Trainor.

The noisy, atonal song sounds like a bad acid trip and the creepy animated video is the perfect visual accompaniment.” – Brooklyn Vegan

The graphics complement the song’s distinct undertones of relationships within families. Trainor’s stark, choppy animation, initially all hand-drawn cells painstakingly traced with sharpies, dives into an enigmatic worldly familial symbolism with mysterious wryness.

The song itself is about failed Christmas gathering where family goodwill has been entirely replaced.

From the minds of mischief makers, no-wave, noise-punk band Ice Balloons - Kyp Malone (TV On The Radio), Sean Kennerly (Samiam), Sean Powell (Fuckemos, Surfbort), Giselle Reiber (Midnight Masses), Dan Scinta (Wild Yaks) and BA Miale.

CUT COPY'S "AIRBORNE" VIDEO IS OUT TODAY

CUT COPY'S "AIRBORNE" VIDEO IS OUT TODAY

"a disco-pop odyssey that sounds like, well, soaring through the sky, before eventually blasting off into psychedelic bliss" -Stereogum Two New U.S. Headline Shows Announced GRAMMY®-Nominated Band Will Also Perform At Luna Lights,CRSSD, Austin City Limits And Splendour In The Grass Festivals View "Airborne" Here: https://CutCopy.lnk.to/AirbornevidPR The midnight munchies meet magical realism in Cut Copy's official video for "Airborne," which was released today. Director Gerson Aguerri (The Vaccines,Breakbot) of the Barcelona-based production company CANADA weaves a tale that begins with a mysterious light shooting across the sky, unbeknownst to Cut Copy lead vocalist Dan Whitford, who is composing a new song on his keyboard. Whitford's quest for a late-night snack turns cosmic as he hits the city streets. View "Airborne"  HERE . Dan Whitford says, "The video for our song 'Airborne' is probably the most interesting and most challenging that I've ever been involved in. It was shot in Barcelona, all through the night for three days running and culminated with a final scene with me having not slept for 24 hours and playing a piano on the back of a moving truck. To say it was a once in a lifetime experience is no understatement! Despite the sleep deprivation, Gerson and his team at CANADA did a fantastic job bringing this surreal story to life." "Airborne" Cut Copy's first official single in four years - gives fans an early glimpse of the new material the GRAMMY-nominated Australian band has been recording in studios around the world. Available for streaming and download HERE, the song was produced by Ben Allen (Deerhunter, Animal Collective) and marks Cut Copy's first release on Astralwerks. PASTE Magazine called "Airborne" "infectious" and noted, "The track is an airy, confident, synth-disco-driven pop gem that you'll want to listen to on repeat, exemplifying Cut Copy's effortless appeal to both those rave-y/club kids and more song-based listeners." Noisey observed, "'Airborne' percolates with baubles of percussion, Nile Rodgers-esque disco guitars, and vocal samples all buffed to a sheen. It is classy as shit, and it's definitely a 'match your steps to the tempo of the song as you walk down the street' kind of jam." SPIN said, "the track is a guitar-driven dance effort with spacey drum machine rhythms and soaring, reverb-drenched synth lines" and Stereogum hailed Airborne" as "a disco-pop odyssey that sounds like, well, soaring through the sky, before eventually blasting off into psychedelic bliss." Cut Copy announced two additional U.S. headline dates - October 3 at Tricky Falls in El Paso, TX and October 4 at The Jones Assembly in Oklahoma City, OK. Cut Copy will also perform at several U.S. festivals this fall, including Luna Lights, CRSSD and Austin City Limits. The band's summer Australian tour will wrap up with an appearance at the Splendour in the Grass Festival tomorrow. See below for itinerary. In the past decade, Cut Copy has truly become an international act, headlining massive sold-out shows and gaining prime slots at prestigious festivals such as Coachella, Ultra and Lollapalooza in the U.S.; Primavera in Spain, Pitchfork in Paris; Summer Sonic in Japan; and Big Day Out in Australia. Initially a bedroom recording project by frontman Dan Whitford, Cut Copyevolved into a full-fledged band with guitarist Tim Hoey, drummer Mitchell Scott, and bass player Ben Browning. The quartet's four studio albums include 2011's Zonoscope, which won two ARIA Awards and was nominated for a GRAMMY, and 2013's Free Your Mind, which Under The Radar awarded 8 out of 10 stars.
The band's songs have been licensed for use in television, games and commercials, including Chevrolet, Netflix, Amazon and Levi's® #LiveinLevis campaign. DJing and mixes have also been a big part of Cut Copy's identity - from the band's famed Fabric mix, Fabriclive.29, to the 2014 Melbourne dance compilation, Oceans Apart.  Cut Copy - Tim Hoey, Mitchell Scott, Dan Whitford, Ben Browning      Photo Credit: Jimmy Fontaine

About Wolf Parade’s Cry Cry Cry:
The soaring choruses, rousing anthems, sprawling guitars and chaotic keys that make up Wolf Parade are on proud display over the course of Cry Cry Cry, the band’s thunderous first album in seven years.

Wolf Parade’s unique combination of sounds and influences, spearheaded by electric co-frontmen Spencer Krug and Dan Boeckner—is a complex yet relatable, energetic brew of glam, prog, synth-rock, and satisfying discomfort—helped define 2000s indie rock with three critically celebrated albums, and propelled a growing Wolf Parade fandom even after the band went on a then-indefinite hiatus in 2010.

Cry Cry Cry is their first album to be produced by Pacific Northwest legend John Goodmanson (Bikini Kill, Sleater-Kinney, Unwound) at Robert Lang Studios outside of Seattle, and is accompanied by a renewed focus and the creativity of a band that took their time getting exactly where they needed to be. It’s also a homecoming to Sub Pop, which released all three of the band’s previous albums.

“The band itself is almost a fifth member of the band, something more or at least different than the sum of its parts,” says Spencer Krug. “We don't know who or what is responsible for our sound, it's just something that naturally and consistently comes from this particular combo of musicians.”

“Once we got back together, I was playing guitar, writing and singing in a way that I only do while I'm in Wolf Parade,” says Dan Boeckner, who shares primary lyrical and singing duties with Spencer. “It’s just something that I can't access without the other three people in the room.”

In the time apart, the band scattered geographically and focused on family and other work--Spencer on his solo project Moonface, Dan on his bands Handsome Furs, Operators, and Divine Fits (with Spoon’s Britt Daniel), and Dante De Caro on records with Carey Mercer’s Frog Eyes and Blackout Beach. And that time allowed for an even stronger, tighter band to emerge.

Eventually, Spencer, Dante, and Arlen found themselves all back living on remote Vancouver Island, accompanied by a population density less than that of Alaska, and the tranquility that leads to creative emanations like a government-sponsored bathtub race. With Dan on the same coast in Northern California, discussions began about picking things up where they left off.

“All of our albums are always a reaction to our last one,” says Arlen. “Expo 86 (2010) was about as sparse as we get, which is usually still pretty dense, and this time we wanted to make the palette a little larger.” Adds Dante, “Expo was a real rock record. We just sort of banged it out, which was kind of the point.” Cry Cry Cry, on the other hand, is more deliberate in its arrangements and embrace of the studio process. “If a part was going on for too long it would get lopped, you know?” says Dan. “That being said, there are two very long songs on the record and I don't think it would be a Wolf Parade record if it didn't have some kind of prog epic.”

“I think we're actually a better band than we were when we stopped playing music together,” says Arlen. “A little bit more life experience for everybody, and people having made a bunch of records on their own.”

The result of this new consciousness is songs like “Valley Boy,” a Bowie-inflected anthem for which Spencer wrote lyrics after Leonard Cohen died the day before the 2016 election (“The radio’s been playing all your songs, talking about the way you slipped away up the stairs, did you know that it was all gonna go wrong?”). “You’re Dreaming,” also influenced by the election and the spinning shock that followed, is driving, urgent power pop that draws from artists like Tom Petty and what Dan calls one of his “default languages” for writing music. The swirly, synth-heavy crescendo of “Artificial Life” takes on the struggle of artists and at-risk communities (“If the flood should ever come, we’ll be last in the lifeboat”).

The album carries a sense of uprising that is not unrelated to Wolf Parade’s renewed determination to drive the band forward in uncertain times. Welcome toCry Cry Cry.

ERASURE release their new single, “World Be Gone,” on July 28 and have unveiled Boxed In’s remix of the track. Boxed In is the Oli Bayston, a British songwriter and producer who has previously remixed Public Service Broadcasting, Ghostpoet and Blossoms. Listen to his “World Be Gone” remix now atPopMatters.

The new single aches with gorgeous melancholy for “the loss of our souls” and finds Andy Bell and Vince Clarke, the BRIT and Ivor Novello winning songwriting duo, in a reflective mood giving the world and recent political upheavals a thoughtful examination. The album’s artwork directly references the track, showing a ship's masthead rising up after being submerged in stormy waters, looking optimistically forward to the future. Tunespeak is currently running a contest for fans to enter to win an actual painting of the World Be Gone cover. Further details here.

World Be Gone” is a new mix of the title track of the band’s latest album. World Be Gone, released last month, entered the UK Official Album Chart at #6 and is the band’s first Top 10 studio album in 20 years.

The digital EP will feature remixes of “World Be Gone” from producer Gareth Jones and Boxed In plus “Oh What A World” remixed by fan favorites GRN and Manhattan Clique as well as House of Labs’s take on “Just A Little Love.” In addition, a brand new bonus track will be included.
