Festival to Feature Live Music, Comedy, Film and more!
New York, NY - August 8, 2017 - The Seaport Music Festival is proud to announce its 15th anniversary celebration in partnership with The Village Voice and South Street Seaport Museum! The Seaport Music Festival has been gathering New Yorkers and tourists alike with authentic programming in a unique setting for the past 15 years. The festival will continue that legacy with an eye on the future, while also celebrating the rich history of this awe-inspiring venue in Lower Manhattan. With the 50th anniversary of the museum together with the 15th anniversary of the festival, it is an amazing time and opportunity to tell this story. For more information, please visit: http://www.seaportmusicfestival.com/.
Reflecting on the festival's history, founder Stephen Dima explains, "The Seaport Music Festival is a NY institution. It was a scruffy little festival that could, and that on many occasions, DID. It became a place where you could see bands that nobody else was going to take a chance on in a unique and relatively undiscovered part of Lower Manhattan."
In addition to live music, Seaport Music Festival will feature film screenings, comedy and dance. This year's lineup includes performances by:
Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, who's self releasing his first album since 2010 called The Hanged Man, and who incidentally has a long, infamous history with the Seaport Music Festival, having performed at the inaugural fest in 2002 plus 5 other subsequent years. At this year's festival, Ted curated a special lineup which includes: comedic, musical and visual artist Jean Grae, heavy-beat minded electronic duo Azar Swan and NYC DIY rock'n'rollers Big Huge. Hosted by Dap.
New York Night Train DJ Jonathan Toubin has also been invited to curate a line-up, which features The Make-Up, a seminal post-punk band from DC led by Ian Svenonius who announced highly anticipated reunion shows this year. The line-up also includes Martin Rev (The surviving half of one of the most important bands of all time, Suicide), James Chance & The Contortions, The Wolfmanhattan Project, Death Valley Girls, Surfbort and Warm Drag. The acts here are not bonded together through genre but through social relationships and the kind of subterranean aesthetic that built the downtown music culture that changed the world, and became globally ubiquitous, but is rapidly disappearing without a trace from its Manhattan incubator. Seaport Music Festival and New York Night Train combine in their shared mission to keep downtown's underground music heritage alive and in its hometown.
The Dance Cartel: Premiere of Wet Clutch, an immersive drive-in dance experience that reinterprets and remixes movie heroines from the last four decades of American film, made possible in part with public funds from Creative Engagement/Creative Learning, supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and administered by Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.
"The Village Voice has covered and been a part of some of the most iconic cultural moments in New York City's history," said Kerrie Gillis, Chief Revenue Officer of The Village Voice. "Our partnership with theSeaport Music Festival continues that tradition, granting thousands of Voice readers and music fans access to the best the city has to offer at one of NYC's most historic venues."
Captain Jonathan Boulware, Executive Director of the South Street Seaport Museum, cited the long connection between the Museum and music over its fifty year history. "In the earliest years of the Seaport Museum, artists like Pete Seeger and others sang on the pier for lunchtime crowds. For years Pier 16 on the East River has been a place to hear music and to connect through that music to the origins of New York itself."
Celebrating its 50th anniversary, South Street Seaport Museum is a cultural institution dedicated to telling the story of the rise of New York as a port city and its critical role in the development of the United States. The Museum uses its historic buildings and ships to provide interactive exhibits, education, and experiences.
The festival will also feature locally sourced foods from the Fulton Stall Market and oysters from Empire Oyster.
One Manhattan Square, a modern glass vertical village at 220 South Street, under development by Extell Development Company, will join as a sponsor of the anniversary celebration.
Attracting thousands of attendees each year, Seaport Music Festival has previously showcased performers such as Animal Collective, Suicide, Angelique Kidjo, Hot Chip and many more. For more information, please visit: http://www.seaportmusicfestival.com/

GRANDCHILDREN ANNOUNCE NEW ACOUSTIC VIDEO SERIES"AT HOME WITH GRANDCHILDREN"
SHARE FIRST INSTALLMENT, "OK I'M WAITING"FROM THEIR FORTHCOMING ALBUM
HEADLINING TWILIGHT MUSIC FESTIVALIN PHILADELPHIA ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 13
STREAM // EMBED "OK I'M WAITING" VIDEO
Ernest Jenning Record Co. is proud to announce the new live video series "At Home With Grandchildren," featuring the Philly indie mainstays performing acoustic versions of songs from their as-yet-unannounced forthcoming record in various locations across their hometown. The series launches today with the new song " OK I'm Waiting ," a psych-folk ballad featuring the soulful harmonies of lead singers Baby & Shylow.
The band will be performing more new music when they headline the Twilight Music Festival inPhiladelphia on Sunday, August 13, a free music series featuring a who's who of legendary Philly acts. (*link)
Since their first release, Everlasting (2010), Grandchildren have evolved from pioneers of Philadelphia's burgeoning DIY scene into a musical powerhouse known for their unique cinematic blend of pop, folk and electronica. A product of a nomadic coming of age across three continents, frontman Aleks Martray settled in Philly to form a family of musicians that brought to life his eclectic sound - Roman Salcic (drums), John Vogel (synth), Russell Brodie (bass), and Adam Katz (guitar). Their following two records took them from the symphonic Golden Age (2013) to the pop-driven ZUNI (2015).
After attaining "road warrior" status through several US tours and sharing the stage with such bands as Man Man, O'Death, and Thievery Corporation, the group went back into the studio in search of a sound that would capture the raw unbridled energy of their live shows. Their new live video series and Twilight Music Festival appearance offer fans a glimpse into what's next for the ever-evolving band.

ABOUT FLORIST: If Blue Could Be Happiness is the second full length album from soft-synthesizer-folk band Florist. It is an observation of change; a full color memory album. It is both a goodbye to a past life and a declaration of great love to a new one. A long mourning song for the death of a mother, and a quiet celebration of the endless struggle that is being alive. Recorded by the band during May of 2017 in an Upstate New York schoolhouse very near to where songwriter Emily Sprague spent her childhood and where the band originated. The final track of the record, "Red Bird", was written and recorded by Emily on the day before her mother died unexpectedly in March of 2017. The song remains in demo form on the album just as she had heard it.

"Ice Balloons specialize in a noisy form of psychedelic post-punk that reminds me of Liars or TVOTR at their most aggressive and experimental, hawking rangy sonic explorations heavy on bass, rhythm, and outbursts of static." - Stereogum

"TVOTR’s Kyp Malone, Surfbort’s Sean Powell, and more linked up for a dizzying new album."
- The FADER
"What’s not to love?" - Village Voice
No-wave, noise-punk supergroup Ice Balloons - Kyp Malone (TV On The Radio), Sean Kennerly (Samiam), Sean Powell (Fuckemos, Surfbort), Giselle Reiber (Midnight Masses), Dan Scinta (Wild Yaks), Dani Miller (Surfbort) and BA Miale- have taken the reins of rambunctious rock and turned it on its head. By way of static, synth and surreal sensations that can only be experienced by immersing yourself in Ice Balloons.
With a lineup like this; there’s plenty of room for personality to push through. Elements of early, noise-ecstatic TVOTR days are evident while the crass crashes of Powell’s cymbals are unapologetic to blowing out your bodega-bought earbuds.
The eleven tracks of dynamic dissonance is a well respected product coming from Ice Balloons. The songs stem from Kennerly’s out-of-body experience in the mountains of Colorado and those elements contributing to the debut LP that dances along the idea of insects heavily.
Don’t let this album fly by you!

“Daddy Long Legs” ANOTHER CURIOUS CHARACTER STUDY FROM MIDNIGHT SISTER
“Daddy Long Legs”ANOTHER CURIOUS CHARACTER STUDY FROM MIDNIGHT SISTERLISTENA strange cast of characters lurks throughout Midnight Sister’s debut Saturn Over Sunset. Loosely based on real friends and faces, the many characters were conjured by Midnight Sister’s Juliana Giraffe as she gazed out a retail window on — you guessed it —Sunset Boulevard. “Daddy Long Legs,” the mysterious, eponymous man who lives in the band’s latest song, seems to be engaged in seedy backlot dealings with his female partner in crime and romance — but one just can’t be sure. Bouncy, Supertramp-nodding keys keep the pace rollicking while Giraffe impassively croons and a mellotron creeps like a fog. In keeping with the cinematic theme of Saturn Over Sunset, Juliana designed an original movie poster to accompany the release of “Daddy Long Legs.” Juliana and her sister Nicky Giraffe have directed Midnight Sister’s videos for previous singles “Leave You” and “Blue Cigar”, and have a couple more in the works for Midnight Sister via their Giraffe Studios, a imagination-emporium-all-inclusive-creative-studio run by two Giraffes. They’re open for business and will make your next art/fashion/video project your finest work by bringing to it their curious touch.Pre-order Saturn Over Sunset:
