MOGWAI SHARE NEW VIDEO FOR "PARTY IN THE DARK"

MOGWAI SHARE NEW VIDEO FOR "PARTY IN THE DARK"
WATCH HERE: https://youtu.be/lF4KJ-T8yAI
NEW ALBUM EVERY COUNTRY'S SUN OUT SEPTEMBER 1 ON TEMPORARY RESIDENCE

Mogwai have today shared the video for new single "Party In The Dark'" taken from forthcoming albumEvery Country's Sun. Directed by Craig Murray and inspired by 80s sci-fi and horror movies, the practical effects film was created using silicone moulded sculptures, which were cast in wax and then melted. The video was filmed over 10 days a combination of stop motion, regular and time-lapse filming. "Party In The Dark" has already enjoyed several weeks on the BBC Radio 6 Music A-list and has previously been described by Dazed as "a New Order-nodding melodic joy". The single will be available to purchase on 7" on August 25th, paired with the exclusive b-side track "Eternal Panther". A distorted slab of Dinosaur Jr-esque noise-rock, "Eternal Panther" shows yet another side to the ever-evolving band. Every Country's Sun finds the Scottish band joining forces once again with producer Dave Fridmann for the first time since 2001's  Rock Action . The new record takes two decades of Mogwai's signature, contrasting sounds - towering intensity, pastoral introspection, synth-rock minimalism, DNA-detonating volume - and distills it, beautifully, into 56 concise minutes of gracious elegance, hymnal trance-rock, and transcendental euphoria. Mogwai begin their massive world tour in Oslo on October 10, taking in dates in Europe,  north America and the UK, and wrapping up with a performance at London's O2 Academy Brixton on December 15, followed by their huge hometown show at The SSE Hydro, Glasgow on December 16. Mogwai will also headline Festival No.6 on September 8. Visit mogwai.co.uk for full ticket information.

Candice Gordon - Debut Album "Garden Of Beasts"

RELEASE DATE: September 8th 2017 via Proper Octopus

“Brooding atmospheric songwriting packed with ominous poetics and powerful vocals.”
Clash

“The greatest song never to feature on the Twin Peaks soundtrack.”
Hotpress

“Sweetly dark folk-tinged music, like ‘Murder Ballads’ era Bad Seeds.”
Time Out London

“Candice Gordon's new album is scintillating, sensual, smooth, mysterious and captivating, just like she is” – Shane MacGowan

Having previously recorded an EP with punk legend and hellraiser Shane MacGowanCandice Gordon is set to release her debut full length album‘Garden of Beasts’ on the 8th of September 2017 via Proper Octopus Records.

Produced by labelmate A.S. Fanning, and mixed by Ingo Krauss (Swans, Iggy and the Stooges), the album was recorded in a country house in Ireland and at the legendary Funkhaus in Berlin. It presents a rich and brooding sonic landscape constructed using a variety of synthetic and natural instruments from Moogs to flutes, and Gordon even plays a one-string Kazakh instrument at times.

"Garden of Beasts is inspired by moving to Berlin and observing the very dark and heavy history that is visible and inescapable everywhere in the city. It’s an exploration of human nature, the hubris of identity, dispossession, and the conflict between the allure of savagery that is in all humans and the desperation for salvation from that." explains Candice.

Candice Gordon grew up in Dublin, Ireland and after some years pursuing a nomadic lifestyle, is now settled in Berlin. She has previously performed atBestivalBody and SoulElectric Picnic and Truck Festival, and supported and shared stages with the likes of Shane MacGowan, Nick Cave and the Bad SeedsThe Horrors, and Kurt Vile and the Violators. She has toured extensively in Europe and the UK over the last few years and since the release of her debut singles “Smoking Like the Barrel of a Gun” and “Cannibal Love”.

KATHY VALENTINE AND THE TOWNSEND PRESENT THE 'SHE FACTORY' SEPT. 19Musician, songwriter and former member of the iconic band the Go-Go's Kathy Valentine presents a series of events assembling the talent of women in the arts

(AUSTIN, TEXAS - Aug. 9, 2017) - Kathy Valentine and The Townsend present"She Factory," a special series assembling the talent of women in the arts onTuesday, Sept. 19 from 8 to 10 p.m. The first installment in the series, "The Song Pool," will focus on local female musicians and will feature Nina Diaz, Carolyn Wonderland, Jane Ellen Bryant, Suzanna Choffel, Patricia Vonneand Ruthie Foster. The evening will take place at The Townsend, located at 718 Congress Ave. #100, Austin, Texas 78701. The event is free and open to the public, with a donation requested at the door to benefit The SAFE Alliance.

The evening is further supported by local Austin female-owned businesses including Janifer Wheeler of Wheelhouse Learning Solutions and the Texas Business Women - Capital City Chapter, Darla Sees of Sees HR Consulting, Caroline Jones of Great American Smiles Dentistry, Grace Lanni of All About that Brand and Austin Chapter, e-Women Network, Conni Reed of Consuela, Heather Wagner Reed of Juice Consulting, Maria Groten and Stephanie Kincheloe of Love Cycle Studio and Ruel Ellis of Conversation Piece Marketing and PRCupprimo Cupcakery, Facial5 Dermacare, Good Life and Soul Nectar Series will provide additional merchandise for artists. Attendee raffle prizes will be provided by Mosaic Weighted Blankets, Spa Social, and Trusty Oak.

"At this 'She Factory' event, 'The Song Pool' brings together a variety of women songwriter/performers in an interactive, casual environment to play some of their songs and discuss with both the audience, and the other performers, the art of songwriting," said Kathy Valentine. "She may discuss the specific song, what inspired it or how songwriting in general impacts, narrates or expresses aspects of her life."

"Providing opportunities for local, female-owned businesses to support local, female musicians just makes sense, considering all of us operate in a space of entrepreneurial creativity," said Janifer Wheeler, president of Texas Business Women - Capital City Chapter, owner of Wheelhouse Learning Solutions and founding member of Black Fret. "When women come together to encourage, empower and enlighten each other, our world is a better place."

Valentine was inspired to start this series to highlight the talent and artistic endeavors of women and bring together the communities of women in the arts and businesses. As an investor in The Townsend, she sees the venue as an ideal place to implement innovative events, a place to bring to fruition her desire to contribute to the Austin community. She Factory gives the audience a look behind the curtain into the artistic process as part of the entertainment. It forges relationships between female led business leaders and artists, empowering and supporting each other. To enable a charity such as The SAFE Alliance to benefit from door donations brings the event into a pay-it-forward circle.

Valentine recently released a new album "Tonewrecker" with her band The Bluebonnets and is planning to play a solo show on Aug. 19, opening for Peter Holsapple at The Townsend. She is also releasing solo singles this year to benefit an Austin charity which will be announced at the end of the year. She is nearing completion on her first memoir to be published by UT Press with an accompanying soundtrack. Valentine also took on a supporting acting role in "The Transcendents," the debut film from New York playwright Derek Ahonen. Finally, Valentine is partnering with Conni Reed, owner of local Austin fashion brand Consuela, producing a product that highlights female musicians and provides a useful, innovative purpose: a hand bag with a detachable guitar strap. The line is currently in early stages of creation with plans soon to be announced. Valentine will be launching a brand new website in September, highlighting the various aspects of her diverse and busy life as a musician, writer, spokesperson and speaker.

"As a woman getting close to another milestone-60 years old in less than two years, I'm very focused on what I want to accomplish," said Valentine. "I wish to leave as many statements and expressions of myself as possible, in as many mediums as possible. Raising my daughter, along with her father, is the most important aspect of my life, but there are new career chapters ahead of me as well. I'm exceedingly proud of the legacy of the Go-Go's and our place in music history. Presently, my hope is to continue inspiring women to keep in mind that whether we are in our 40s, 50s, 60s or beyond, we can remain challenged, engaged, open and motivated. My goals are that all my endeavors be part of a platform that enables me to bring about positive change in the community, country and world."

About Kathy ValentineKathy Valentine has been a working musician and songwriter for over 40 years, ever since she started her first band, at age 16, in her hometown of Austin. Inducted into the Austin Music Hall of Fame in 2014, Valentine made music history as a member of the Go-Go's, the band she joined at age 22, co-writing three hit singles, and is expected to earn an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Valentine plays guitar with The Bluebonnets in Austin, a band she describes as "rockin' garage blues glam pop." She is releasing solo singles during the 2017 year and working on a second solo CD as a soundtrack to accompany her first book, a memoir, for the University of Texas Press, due in 2019.###

THE SHINS SHARE NEW VIDEO FOR “HALF A MILLION”

THE SHINS SHARE NEW VIDEO FOR  “HALF A MILLION”

WATCH JAMES MERCER’S TINY DESK PERFORMANCE  HERE

WORLD TOUR CONTINUES OVERSEAS ON AUGUST 10; NORTH AMERICAN LEG KICKS OFF SEPTEMBER 23The Shins have released their innovative new video for “Half a Million,” watchhere. Directed by Lamar + Nik, the “Half a Million” visual was created using 5,566 stickers that were then stop-motion animated.

In celebration of the band's fifth studio album, Heartworms, singer and guitarist James Mercer stopped by NPR for a special Tiny Desk performance. Watch the stripped back concert here, which NPR Music calls “simple and perfect.” The Shins also recently announced new tour dates in support of Heartworms, extending what is already a huge worldwide tour. The additional dates include The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on September 29 with special guests Foxygen and Day Wave, plus Reno’s Grand Sierra Resort and Casino on October 7 with special guest Day Wave, and The Anthem in Washington, DC on November 2 with special guest Baio. See below full itinerary below.

The Shins invited Mertle, the winner of #SHINSVANCONTEST, to open for them in Niagara Falls and Grand Rapids. Ahead of their show at Michigan’s Meijer Gardens Amphitheater, Fox 17 interviewed both bands in the newly refurbished 1990 Ford 350 Clubwagon – watch here. Following Grand Rapids, The Shins concluded the first North American leg of their world tour at Chicago’s Lollapalooza on Sunday, August 6. The band played an evening set to a packed crowd at the festival’s main stage, with Billboard raving, “Mercer appeared more lighthearted and loose… the bubbly energy made The Shins' set all the better,“ and the Chicago Tribune exclaiming “in stringing together songs from across the Shins estimable career, the quality of the work can't be denied.”

Produced by James Mercer, The Shins’ fifth album, Heartworms, was released March 10 to a wave of acclaim: Entertainment Weekly called Heartworms the “band’s boldest album yet” and “a rewarding and singular addition to the Shins’ catalog,” Rolling Stone lauded its “home-brewed feel, heavy on Beach Boys grandeur, New Wave kicks, squiggly synth-pop and warm-weather soft rock – with lyrics tenderly balanced between midlife malaise and youthful romanticism. The result is some of the most charming music he's ever made,” while Time magazine opined “Heartworms works on a grander scale, with ornate sonic tableaux.”

Heartworms  is available everywhere now via Aural Apothecary/Columbia Records.

SAM AMIDON TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED

Photo by Terry MagsonSAM AMIDON TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED

THE FOLLOWING MOUNTAIN OUT NOW ON NONESUCH RECORDS
New York, NY — August 8, 2017 — Experimental folk artist and composer Sam Amidon has announced new tour dates in support of his latest album, The Following Mountain. The tour is Amidon’s first in the US since 2015 and begins in Seattle on September 23 with additional stops in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, Washington, D.C. and more before culminating in New York City on October 10. The US tour is followed soon-after by a European leg that includes performances in Stockholm, Copenhagen, Berlin, Paris, Dublin, Amsterdam and more, as well as Amidon’s first headlining performance at London’s Union Chapel on October 26. See below for complete tour details.

Out now on Nonesuch Records, The Following Mountain represents a new approach for Amidon. He shifts here from his previous norm of re-working traditional folk songs and presents nine wholly original compositions, with some lyrics drawing on traditional sources. Created with producer Leo Abrahams (Brian Eno, Regina Spektor) and Amidon’s frequent collaborator Shahzad Ismaily, the album features guest appearances by drummer Milford Graves, percussionist Juma Sultan and saxophonist Sam Gendel. It is Amidon’s sixth album and follows Lily-O, his 2014 Nonesuch Records collaboration with Bill Frisell. FOR MORE INFORMATION PLEASE VISIT:

COLD WAR KIDS PREMIERE THE VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE "SO TIED UP" FEATURING BISHOP BRIGGS TODAY ON VEVO

COLD WAR KIDS PREMIERE THE VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE"SO TIED UP" FEATURING BISHOP BRIGGS TODAY ON VEVO
Los Feliz Blvd  EP Out Now - Collection Features Acoustic Versions Of Tracks From Band's New Album, LA Divine
Cold War Kids Join Young The Giant On North American Tour, Which Includes SummerStage Concert In NYC's Central Park On September 13th

Cold War Kids premiere the video for their new single "So Tied Up" featuring Bishop Briggs today on Vevo.  Shot in Los Angeles, the comic noir clip was directed by Tota. Watch it HERE.    Says front man Nathan Willet, "'So Tied Up' is about the tension and struggle of relationships. With this video, we wanted to show the sweetness on the surface and the violence that bubbles underneath as a metaphor for all of our love lives. We're so proud to finally share this with you today!!! Big thanks to Bishop, Tota, all the cast and crew." TIME Magazine hailed the single as "enticing" and noted, "This one is a fast -paced toe tapper with a stadium-sized arrangement. As far as angsty passionate themes to conflicted love affairs go, this one ticks all the right boxes." Watch a live acoustic performanceWillett and Briggs recording "So Tied Up," backed only by violin, cello and Willett on piano HERE.
The band recently released  Los Feliz Blvd  (Capitol Records), an EP featuring intimate, acoustic recordings of tracks from the band's new album,  LA Divine . With elegant, sparse instrumentation, the singles "Love Is Mystical," "Can We Hang On?" and "So Tied Up" are stripped down to their emotional core. British singer/songwriter Bishop Briggs is featured on two tracks - the sizzling "So Tied Up" and a soulful version of  Rihanna's "Love On The Brain."  Available for download and streaming  HERE , the EP was produced by Lars Stalfors and recorded at Sonora Recorders in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles.  Cold War Kids recently wrapped a sold-out North American headline tour and are now on the road with Young The Giant on the "Home of the Strange Tour," which kicked off earlier this month in Louisville, KY. The run will include performances at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO (August 15), Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island in Chicago (September 9) and SummerStage in New York City's Central Park (September 13). The band will also perform at the Memphis Music Festival and New Orleans' Voodoo Music + Arts Experience. See below for itinerary. Tickets for all shows are available at  coldwarkids.com .  Coming on the heels of 2014's Hold My Home - which featured the chart-topping, Gold-certified single "First"  -  LA Divine  pays tribute to Los Angeles in all its strange glory, embodying Cold War Kids' fascination with their adopted hometown. Produced by Lars Stalfors (Health, Local Natives), it debuted in Top 10 of Billboard's Alternative Albums and Top Rock Albums charts. "Love Is Mystical," the lead single, was praised by NME for taking the band's "rousing and soulful anthemics to new heights." The track, which is approaching 21 million streams worldwide, held the No. 1 spot for Most Increased Plays at AAA radio for two consecutive weeks and went on to spend 10 straight weeks in the Top 5. It took the No. 1 spot on the Alt 18 Countdown for four consecutive weeks and hit No. 2 at Alternative radio.  The Huffington Post said, "The soulful lyrics and sonic reverence of [LA Divine] is overwhelmingly compelling, addictive and even mesmerizing." Entertainment Weekly observed, "[The album features] the gospel-tinged 'No Reason to Run,' eerie 'Open to the Heavens,' and dance-ready 'Invincible.' Album closer and highlight 'Free to Breathe' strips away flourishes, relying instead on minimal, ethereal instrumentation and frontman Nathan Willett's vocals." Cold War Kids are Nathan WillettMatt MaustJoe PlummerMatthew Schwartz, and David Quon. Formed in 2004 in Fullerton, CA, the band has sold more than 800,000 adjusted albums, over two million singles, and racked up over 200 million streams to date.     Los Feliz Blvd  - Track Listing So Tied Up feat.
