So...when does something happen in this book? Any time now...

I struggle with her books. Way too much info dump on the first few pages. I prefer my stories to bubble up, not boil over.

Having a hard time not picturing an entire society of Mystiques.

Laini Taylor doesn't write. She carves. She crafts. She delicately shapes. This woman takes in words and spits out art. It's glorious.

Why aren't these books movies yet? They scream "make me an action movie!!"

This section about the Moral Majority and their response to the AIDS crisis is chilling and infuriating.

How have I not read this yet?! This is freaking amazing. Beautifully written alt history with a badass female MC in a motorcycle race?! This is a universally appealing book!

This girl says the dumbest things. "She had maple syrup brain," "lying left a sticky feeling in her throat, like she's accidentally inhaled a condom," "she felt like there was a spider in her throat crawling up her windpipe." What the hell?! These are not normal metaphors!!

I'm curtailing this one back to want to read for now, bc I have way too many other books that I want to read more. I may return.
