I swear, if Vey walks in and Doctor Manhattan’s this crap, this book loses a star. Like, just straight loses one.

Never have a wished for a character’s death more than Ostin. He is insufferable and a know-it-all.

19 pages in and there’s already a chapter called “A Screaming Clown Dick.” I’m going to love this book. More David Wong time!!!

I’m on page 47 and it’s already part 4 and chapter 7. Just make them chapters with dividers! 47 pages is just over 10 pages a chapter. That’s common. This division stuff is weird.

This may win as both the most awkwardly written and the most poorly timed sex scene in history. Please don’t make references to “taking the helm” and “handling this engine” in a YA sex scene. It’s creepy and laughable.

Ugh, this insufferable girl changes her affections as quickly as plucking petals from a daisy! “I love Hysan, I hate him, I love him, he’s dead to me, etc.”

This book is a hot mess so far. Too much going on and none of it important.

I love the parallels between Jared and Trey. They both carry dangerous stereotypes in their minds, just from two totally different sides.

I'm loving this so far, especially as a readalike to THUG, but I hate the fact that all the dialogue is written like a play. It feels lazy.

I don't know which I like more: this book, or the fact that the audiobook is delightfully narrated by Anika Noni Rose. Thanks, princess Tiana, for this great read!

Wow, this book just took a turn into the Black Mirror episode "Nosedive".

Love her commentary on standing up to abuse and bullying. "They think you won't hit back--that you'll lower your eyes and hide. And sometimes, to protect yourself, to make it go away, you do. But sometimes, you find yourself standing in exactly the right position, wielding exactly the right weapon to hit back." Takes me back to school again...

There's a character named Daniel Wing in this book, but the middle name is different so I don't think it's a cameo from Legend...

Finally he meets the Guardians of the Galaxy. About time for that crossover.

Two cool things so far: 1) she shows the effort that goes into hacking and coding and 2) her friendship with her roommate seems very realistically comfortable.

I'm feeling really smug because I called the entire plot, on record with a previous reader, on page 62. I'm just that good, folks.

The only thing I find questionable about this book so far is how he's so successfully masquerading as Daniel Tate. How did he just stumble upon a kid he looks that similar to? It's a bit of a plot contrivance.

And to think, one change on this page and the book is done.

I'm unsure about this book. Like, the concept is great but the execution is questionable.
