No matter how long and uncomfortably over-detailed these books are, I will never cease being impressed with the evil badassery of Keris Veturia. She's truly a villain for the ages.

Half a damn book and Elias hasn't moved a single ghost through! You have to do something, dude! You can't just wonder why they aren't going anywhere!

I have officially hit the end of my comprehension of this book. It was a good run, but it is now beyond me. I will continue reading to see if there's any more little drops I can muddle through.

This is why I read teen books. I don't need three paragraphs on CDC decontamination procedures or a full paragraph on a man entering a room. Just because you research something doesn't mean it has to make it into the final draft. Edit!

Unless you actually care about these forced and contrived love stories, you can pretty much skip all the chapters in the late 50s.

This comparison of being a rape victim vs a murder victim is incredibly insightful. "Politicians don't argue the body's ability to fight of being killed. There's no talk of murder culture. No one says that you asked for murder. What you wear doesn't excuse being killed." Bold statements and quite true.

You know who pisses me off in this scene? Not the boy who made the ignorant comment, but the French teacher who heard it and did nothing. That is how hates perpetuates, when adults don't take every opportunity to educate the next generation. I hate this French teacher.

All of chapter 15 made me uncomfortable. I'm an introvert generally and I don't do clubs. I wanted to leave and I wasn't even there, lol. Which indicates some quality writing.

I don't get this. on pg 113 she says Takumi is sitting for his nieces. then on 119, shes surprised when he says he has nieces. Is she an idiot or is that a weird random plot hole?

Most books I just read. With Maisie, I sink into the book like a pillow. I get wrapped up in the world and don’t realize time is passing and that it isn’t, in fact, WWII England.

I love an entirely beige house being described as a “sea of determined inoffensiveness.” That is just so accurate.
