the terrific leader: this take on 1984 had some interesting bits here and there

the only constant: !!! ahhh great concept, again, i would love to get more of it.

birds: holy. shit. the most beautiful of them all so far, reads like an old fairy tale.

n.: it's like two of the other stories from this very anthology mixed together, but admittedly better.

the adventure of you: my 5-star favourite so far. it's probably the shortest of all i read so far, but wow. loved it

agnosia: feels a bit underdeveloped and i'd love more of it, but i liked it

his sweat like stars: with its main focus on america thus far, the collection seems repetitive. i don't wanna say i'm a bit bored, but i am. still though, it's only 15%😜

i'm, like, the last person to be considered a star wars fan, but this book is super entertaining. i guess i really do miss my religion lectures after all lol

everything is fixed now: what was this? very confusing. two things about it: dwayne johnson and emails. that's it. i know, i have no idea either, and i read this thing.

re:your wedding: this one was just a sketch, i feel like. quick little email exchange, nothing particularly curious about this one.

sneakers: hm. well. this politically-oriented dystopian short story was thrilling and, admittedly, not so far-fetched. it's the most terrifying kind of thing to exist: when you realise that you can actually imagine the events described in a dystopia happening right now, on this very day somewhere on the border. not a new concept, thus all the more terrifying!

i know i keep doing this thing where i randomly pick up new books when i have five others to finish but LISTEN to me, this graphic novel is the single most beautiful and thrilling thing i have in my room at the moment and i just cannot put it down

ah!!!! so excited to start this!! haven't read dystopia in a while

oh how i WISH i were the nadia at the 17% of this book read, delighted and excited. the nadia that finished this book is frustrated, confused, and sad that despite the author's claims of spending a significant part of her life immersed into russian culture, this book failed to provide the authentic russian experience that it could have. i'm wroting the review now, will probably be spoiler-y, and hopefully up tonight.

just wanted to point out how unrealistic alexei's condition is described here. it is a work of fiction, yes, but the author specifically chose real historical figures as her characters, with real documented conditions. unfortunately, it is something i can't forgive the wrong portrayal of. you can't just twist and turn it if you specifically chose to have it in your story in the first place.

first off how sad is that i'm reading a book on nye? yeah i know. my sister is watching car review videos though, so. ANYWAY this book just took a turn and got so bizzare that i'm honestly undhure what to think. the vague theme of personal offence that i'm somehow feeling since around 20% mark is still going on btw

i've no idea how to update audible progress, but anyway. the narrator is terrible, and alina pisses me off So Much. all she does in chapter 1 is whine. i think this is the reason i always stick to traditional reading, because the first time around i kind of glossed over all this whining, ugh. with this, i barely remember anything else. king of scars, i'm doing this for you

i just wanna say that i now have audible, and if you think that i spent my first book free deal on shadow and bone to reread before king of scars while not having to actually sit down and read it, then you are absolutely right

five years later... she's back. this was my first, like, major obsession in life. 13 year old me could only talk about this series for an entire year, and then some. it's time to go back to my roots!!
first off, i don't really like the writing, but it's nice to remember how different the book characters are from the show (don't watch the show... i watched all 3 seasons for you and it's bad), in a good way.

the romance is so unnecessary tho >:(

starting to doubt some things but it's still engaging enough to keep going. my main complaints are on the factual side of things, and i'll expand on that in my review. in short, it's pretty hard to ignore everything that i know of the events rewritten here to completely dismiss the inaccuracy. quite frustrating at times.

this book is not what i expected, but definitely everything i wanted it to be. it almost reads as a russian to english translation; the characters are handled with respect to their culture, meaning the author did her reaserch and it shows. wow. this is just. so good

the tea is that i was not supposed to be so invested despite the fact that this book is more romance-centered than i tend to like, and it's pretty chill in terms of plot as opposed to what i would prefer based on synopsis. still not sure how this book does it, but i think it might even get 4 stars from me?
