But come on! Nothing much happens.

For 10% it’s all rather boring rehash... that’s probably what bugs me about this book.... so much duplication. We don’t need to read a lesser experience on the shadow road. Just skip it if it’s not going to be better! I liked how they figured out the riddle after poor Jairo’s death. And the settings continue to be magnificent like the hall of heroes.

She learns in her dream of H’s plan. At first D was going to leave but the ronin convinced him to stay that they would fail otherwise. They go to a tea ceremony and are threatened. We learn S is calling in a favor to stop H from getting to the temple.

Well the end cleared up some of my concerns! (Eggs) I do wonder if Auma is a lost princess... which begs the question why woman who are the last of their blood are all queer...?! Resyries was a joy, especially when he shocked Rayzel! E seemed like a bi sexual? Or that seemed to be the intent anyway. All over the place...

This last 7% has been the best part of the book. I still mourn seeing the crow culture in action but I do love Caylus and Res and how close they are to Thia! Even though I don’t believe such a controlling woman would allow her son’s new wife to be run around without someone overlooking her nor would she allow letters... but the relationships are ones worth exploring.

The love triangle took over at about 50% and we don’t see the prince much. Caylus is a good guy. I like the idea of him but it would have been better to focus on different guys in each book. Cramming both into such a short book makes everything feel shallow. The mystery of birthing the crow was simple but neat and I love Res! I’m worried about his lack of magic too!

TBH this is a little boring... it’s not bad but it feels like a sequel where I missed the first book that should have engaged me. I LOVE the crow culture but it’s all back history. It has no real bearing on the current plot. A book spent in this world and my blood would be boiling in this book. Also I really like the prince but we didn’t have enough time with him.

They re traveling and the guards plaid a cruel trick with fire. E wants to start over. He seems genuine but it feels random.

She moped around for 15 more percent. Wondering how to hatch the egg and sparring the the prince. He sneers a lot but also has a couple human moments... Her brilliant plan is to unite with the other neighboring kingdoms. That’s rocket science there! I wish I liked this better but I keep wondering what good one crow would do...

Yumeko is visited by the kitsune elder again... he teaches her to use her fox fire in the dream world. And they visit a dream where the robin and noble are acting like lovers... and then they move on to Tatsumi’s dream...? We go to Suki’s POV and learn Seigetsu-sama has been manipulating fate thru Taku’s visions. And a new vision reveals she is lingering out of love!

H makes a deal with G after killed the mage’s blood witch and getting the army to swear allegiance to him.

They ended up down in the town and Yumeko met a Neko cat. She was the shrine maiden! Haha then the real Reiko shows up and a guy following attacks!

Hakaimono goes into the forest and fights some man eating heads which was really cool. He’s been infected with mercy not being nearly as ruthless as he once was. He’s joining mage Genno and his quest to take over the empire... for a price!

Okay so rather anticlimactic but at least setup is done! She even talked to Tatsumi’s teacher and rival! Seems an inner clan political battle is using Tatsumi as the measure as to who will win. So Yumeko has a lot of opposition... and now the Ronin and the noble have disappeared.

The shadow world was neat... but the vast amount of description is tiring and for being this far in the book I feel like I’m still recapping the first book. But these two illusionists going up against one another is neat...

Welp that started good! We get reminded what’s going on... meet an elderly kitsune... see a one eyed yokai have a vision... and watch an Ouni slaughter a troop of shadow warriors like they were nothing!

Other than not really relating to Fortuna I’m really loving the book! While she brought her troubles on herself if other circumstances conspired to to bring these same events I’d be TOTALLY immersed in this story! I love the fae parts and how out of control they are. I love Fortuna’s ability and the moments she used it.

Should they have told you yes. But chick it hadn’t even been an hour! You could have waited and you CHOSE not to and you paid the price. Own up to YOUR PART! Then things got really odd... Fortuna is all over the place! It’s really hard to relate to Fortuna. I feel like she brings her troubles on herself. She was told EVERYONE promised no powers. Then you go and do it.... I don’t feel sorry for you. Own up!!

Woah brutal. Okay I like this girl. I really do. BUT the two fae men familiar with the fae you would come into contact with AND who were familiar with your brother’s situation told you NO DON’T DO IT! They warned you baby. So you can blame the punishers and their coldness or what not but based on the information you had... information YOU PAID BY SELLING YOURSELF you should have waited.

Woah! Well he DID tell you not to go! You made that choice. There had to be extenuating circumstances otherwise he’d have taken you straight off. And you HAD to know things weren’t as straightforward as he presented them. Jassin really is an ass though. And now I’m really curious about Oliver!

Fascinating end... a little wholesome for some but it’s a series about suicide after all!! It should be in a way ... and I love the mention of his sister whose e baby father comes back and knocks her up again haha... I hope Shoya and Shoko get together in the future!

This is the final... they go to a coming of age ceremony together... everyone faces something Satoshi goes to talk to an old classmate Nao tries to make Shoya jealous and totally fails. Shoya and Shoko face the kids from their elementary school... he grabs her hand for the first time!

Final - Shoya decides to stay close and become a hairdresser to take over the family salon?! Weird... Shoko goes to school in Tokyo... he finally asks her what those things are she gave him! (Instead if telling her he likes her!!) we are so disappointed right Tomohiro?!

60 - everyone has decided what they want to do... but Shoya. He thought he’d just stay around there but his mom tells him to go with Shoko if he’s so worried... finally after Yuzuru starts going to school he realizes he’ll support Shoko and tells her... so she decides to go after her mom also says yes.

59 - They graduate Miyoko entered the costume in a contest and they won! So her and Nao are going to Tokyo next year! He asks Shoko what she wants to do and shyly admits she wants to be a hairdresser and found a hearing impaired teacher!! He goes ballistic! Scared he won’t see her again I suspect...

58 - They go to the ceremony and viewing with the judge who tears their movie apart. They were really bummed and started arguing then Shoya said it was awesome! But his old friend spoke up and said it was just an after school project... everyone latched onto that and they went to eat. Hahaha

57 - He sees everyone and the Xs drop off their faces one by one. Satoshi starts and I thought that was great of him. I still don’t like Nao but he’ll never see her the way she wants so she’s got her just desserts. They tour the festival together. His classmates Xs start to drop off too...
