Oh I forgot the stonies who were pretty cool!

FINALLY some info on the Wildbarrens... maybe we’ll finally get there.

Falin ingested all that he saw, then shook his head. “I don’t understand… Is this saying man came from… monkeys? That they are related?”

Oh yeah and proof humans come from monkeys *rolls eyes*

The seer admits he’s using the other 2. Pretty convenient the warlocks revealing so much through kindly discourse. They arrive at monkey mountain and are kindly greeted by friends of Red and Skully. They R&R there and the elf and the drak reveal their love! Some gruns sent by the necromancer warlock are found and interrogated. Slice of life adventure with a heavy leaning on sleep, food and aimless dialogue.

They find out they can’t go to a kingdom for R&R because of Red and Jimmy being wanted there. They find an abandoned village then run into why... the warlocks this time with their seer who says they will succeed only if they let them live. One tries to get Falin to kill a girl. The other does kill the girl and raises her.

They exit the mountain where the water gem was with gruns on their heels. Falin uses his gem and the Skully goes big! A bit boring but some cool things happen like the ocean cavern and the prince saving the drak.

The princess part was predictable but fun. I liked her little romance with Red. Seems these warlock dudes are going to keep interrupting.

Woot! The last 7% was a lot better! Got into some battles in the Oldwoods. Met a siren in the trees haha. Met Boschi the spirit of Olswoods. Asked Falin to come back to clear the woods of darkness. I love the Skully and Red can be entertaining too. Nym actually saved them.

His own description of the first 24% GAAAAHHHHH
“Good,” Falin answered. “We dealt with some gruns on the second day, but other than that, not much. We spent a couple nights in Rorkshire too. ...”

Geeze this is so terrible... soooo many pages just to take on a quest to rescue a princess! I did love her grandmother Delsa but so much gabbing between characters I can’t even care for! It has a slice of life feel to the story rather than adventure...

Welp something finally happened! Red and Skully take on 9 gruns or whatever... it was cool but better the inexperienced get battle experience than the 2 show off! GAHHHH I’m just not liking this... how can the first 10% be soooooo boring!

Hmmm I like Annie too! She’s the one who first meets the girl... the girl it’s dragon riding boots! She won her bout in 2 minutes. Haha. That Power ought not to even be up for a position. You can’t maintain the philosophy why would you give him power?! It’s just the dragon lords all over again.

I really like Leo/Lee! He’s in a pretty tough spot as far as his past is concerned and what would happen to his life if his identity got out. Sounds like he really likes Annie no matter that she was a serf at one point. He loves his family and a girl who never would have fit in their old life...

8 - Nat takes them to a point in the wharf district where he grew up for them to descend from. He doesn’t want her to go but they say goodbye. He shares his desire to open an orphanage some day. She says they’ll always be connected thru the abyss. And they descend!

7 - Shiggy (boy with the glasses) steals a map of the known layers of the abyss and goes over them with Riko and Reg after he declares he’s going too. At the end Nat makes the declaration that if her mother’s whistle made it to the surface it can only be for one reason... she’s dead!!

6 - They tell Nat about the note (she takes it feeling it’s meant for her). He’s against them going because she’ll never be able to return to the surface! Reg finds a squishy relic junk his first raid.

Pretty sad she never knew her mother, not really. I wonder why she left this note! Is it for Riko?! And what about the pressures of cave diving? Is that really why she didn’t return?

5 - She’s given her mother’s whistle and then allowed to view the papers left with it. On one piece it says she’ll be waiting at the netherworld’s bottom! We learn Riko’s eyes hurt without glasses because she was born in the abyss! There isn’t anything wrong with her eyes. And we learn the story of her birth from Leader!

4 - So they make a back story for Reg and have him approach from the front door. Leader quizzes him and suspects where he came from (especially with the name which was Riko’s dog!) he goes thru bell training and finally it’s his first dive! But first Habo comes home with a white whistle... the crowd suspects its Lyza’s Riko’s mother’s whistle.

3 - she takes the boy robot back to the orphanage and they pump electricity thru him and he wakes up! But as he ponders if he’s a robot or not he makes a really good case for not... he’s hungry, has a belly button and goods for waste disposal! Our little chickie is in trouble with the leader...

Hmmm the strip miners are ants! They use a crystal and augments?! It’s so crazy weird! She makes a parachute with her web that saves her from the ants when she went to investigate.

Portia was sent to learn about what’s going on I. This part of the forest... her negotiations with the local family, battle and information gathering were fascinating. Then Mason fights with the computer til he gets the ‘good’ doctor who tries to bribe them with star maps to other terraformed planets. They should go, they should really go!

2 - So her and Nat go down and she works her tail end off to get a big haul. Looking for Nat she sees a big snake creature trying to eat him! She calls for help in her mind and someone comes with a laser canon... she follows the holes and finds a machine boy!! Knocked out on an edge of a cliff!

1 - We meet Riko an orphan whose mother used to be a white whistle and cave dived to deep depths and made wonderful discoveries before she died. Now she wants to do the same thing! She's been stealing relics like this cave compass and wants to get experience at deeper depths but must bring in a good load to be considered. She has lofty dreams that most don't feel she can achieve.

5 - A water horse kills a man’s daughter. She saved a dog, Grim who was to be the guardian of a graveyard offering herself instead. And now she’s dead from the water horse. He wants revenge himself... so they follow to try to keep him from dying. Love how different each story was!!

4 - a poor mermaid gifts fortune to a man’s family and he leaves her to make his way in the world and now this 3rd generation leaves her too. The town is jealous and made each man feel bad and while he comes back it’s not until they are old with a child. Pretty sad!

3 - a basilisk egg is to be hatched in s village by prediction. Ferry comes and knows everything she needs to find it and get it. Turns out if a human sees it first it dies but Kushuna captures it and keeps it safe. The story is an allegory for something that sounds scary but is quite harmless.

2 - The girl captures the wyvern with Kushuna’s help the town wants it killed and the body given to them for parts to gain wealth. K goes to the wyvern and let’s it go... telling it it’s a fool, to go after his love and not trust humans again! Haha lived his perspective!! The bat warned her he did it haha.

1 - we meet Ferry not an official but a member of the investigators we learn about the wyvern terrorizing a village but not doing extreme damage. She wants them to bear in mind the wyvern’s POV and trauma them telling bandits about its mistress. Loved Kushuna her bodyguard and Trow her bat!

What a story! It’s an unusual culture to focus on but I really love it! And the orb being is fascinating!
