56 - they have a cute interaction when Shoya shares he sees his classmates faces as a blur. The movie wows him... he thinks different things then at the end realizes it’s silent with captions so Shoko can understand it too!

55 - Shoya goes home. He tells Shoya to tell everyone he’ll visit them. Maria cries seeing Shoya haha then becomes obsessed with what’s dead and alive. Shoko’s family comes over and the mom’s bond over sushi.

54 - She signs a lot to him! He explains he’s why she climbed onto that railing. She says no! He says it’s not worth dying for that he wants her to help him live! Then their families find them and his mom faints! Still I can see that his words would give her a reason to live. Like she did him!

53 - Shoya wakes up and pulls out all his tubes and stumbles out of the hospital intent on finding out if Shoko is okay... and runs into her on the bridge! They both think the other is a ghost.

The info pages were neat. I like getting the explanation from the mangaka direct! Though I figured all of this out overtime it’s fascinating to read.

48 - Lykos meets Liontari... she says she realizes he was jealous because he had no one to laugh with him and it turned to violence. She’s in a neat battle with him! Chakuro sees Mayor and the Duke being lead and he jumps down to them. Orca wants Chakuro? Ouni and Orca prepare to fight one another! Their blood necklaces reaching for each other!

47 - Orcas wants to evolve humans... so because Kyma was amused by this idea she agrees to go with him! Shuan and the person who got him out get to the unmarked who are contemplating suicide to free the marked from having to fight. The kids arrive too, just in time to save Shuan whose awakened thymia abilities had just run out.

46 - Orca marches on the Duke and arrives at Kyma. She agrees to go away with him if his story amuses her enough. The mayor gets caught up in the illusion and sees Sami. Orca is of apostasia blood who can give rise to daimonas. (Like a Ouni?) he wants to use his blood to take control of their progenitor Anthropos. Andhave everyone? Become Nous themselves. She doesn’t think he’ll do it.

53 - She runs to different locations that she met with Shoya... I realize she’s worried she’ll never see him again because he really kills himself. She’s sobbing and it breaks my heart. Then Shoyacwakes up and calls for Choko (Shoko)!

Then we see her imagine how the past could have been if they’d befriended her. Then Shoya telling her she’ll be fine without him. Then suddenly something about Tuesday and she rushes out. Not sure what this last bit is about. I really feel for Shoko not because she’s disabled but because no one gives her props for trying!

51 - we get Shoko’s POV in this chapter is pretty sad. We see she didn’t fall. His ex-friends who pulled him out said not to tell him it was them. I’m actually not totally sure why we were shown what we were... but we see how she struggles to understand what is being said living with one sided communication.

The horrible thing is Nao was just jealous of Shoko because Shoko didn’t go along with the bullying of Shoya like she did. She made it into a romance thing but it never was. She didn’t do the right thing and hates Shoko because the girl was nice to her bully. Nao is a valid POV but not someone I want as a friend.

50 - Naoka is scum of the earth!!! She thinks it’s better Shoya NEVER wake up if he’s not going to get with her. And this is in HER THOUGHTS. It’s not bravado. She’s just scum. Shoko walks her home with an umbrella even though Nao is mean to her... and Nao gives her the email of Kazuki his old friend who she got to do the music.

49 - Satoshi feels very abnormal to himself... to make himself feel normal she tried to befriend Shoya. But it didn’t help. He wanted to become a teacher to watch his bullies’ kids grow up and see what kind of people they are... he goes to apologize to that teacher and finds Shoka there.

47 - 48 - we see how Miyoko and Miki are coping with Shoya’s situation. We learn Miyoko escaped Nao and then was forced to deal with her again. She’s trying to change like Shoya but it’s hard. Miki is totally delusional but we see that other kids see her as creepy (she is!) but it’s really made her self esteem suffer. She confronts Nao keeping everyone out of Shoya’s room.

46 - Tomohiro visits the hospital and sees Nao kick Shoka out of his room. They talk and he asks her outright why she tried to kill herself and she said because she destroyed everything. She wants to finish the movie! Actually it captures his imagination as he wanted to do something too. But Nao is out.

45 - we learn Yuzuru took those photos of dead things to try to get her sister to see she didn’t want to die! Shoka told her quite young she wanted to die so Yu’s been on a campaign to save her. Her mom asks her why she’s taking them down and she says they didn’t work. It’s heartbreaking... Shoya’s still not awake.

That is a real friend!! When Nao gets physical with her and then goes back to Shoka... Shoka’s Mom jumps in and slaps the B*tch (yes, Nao!) totally deserved it! You go mom!!!

44 - Shoka’s Mom comes and kneels to Shoya’s Mom it’s pretty mind blowing. Yuzuru goes to get Shoka and finds Nao beating the crap out of her... reading her letter back to her. Yu is stunned... Shoka went to normal school for her sister but felt she was putting everyone out being there. Miyoko jumps in front of the cowering Shoka!!!

43 - Gahhhh poor Shoya totally feels guilty about Shoko’s trying to kill herself! The thing is he totally understands the desire. He really wanted to save her from that, from wanting to take her life because of what he did. To make her life worth living now. Love how he tried to work out if she’d survive if she fell... next thing his mom is in the hospital.

45 - a friend of Roch escapes her guarded room and frees Shuan who is also going after the unmarked while he can. Orcas got past Roch of course. Dumpling is freed when they see his fallen comrades and he tells them where to find the unmarked. He reports himself to Roch who is amazed and inspired by his bravery. He will head to Kyma to get the mayor and face Orcas while he leaves Dumpling to guide the kids again.

We learn the little mechanic dude was a girl! The 3 kids run into the mechanics that live in Rich’s factory.

44 - Orcas approaches ... he is there for their Kymia ... Rochalizo goes out to defend against him... but he’s been ripping it up to this point. 3 kids follow after Ouni and his group. Chauko saw Orcas and is scared.

The 2 bonus pages about Ryu were fun! He’s my new favorite character

Connect Us - a cute bonus story about a kid who passed on who worried he’d come between his friends being together and realizes he genuinely was loved by them.

8 - the prince Izana is a real jackass! He calls in Zen and insists the men of the fort be punished or have the fort taken from his purview for 6 months. Then he pulled out Shirayuki who he ridiculed. Because she’s Zen’s friend. We end the volume with Zen looking out into the distance and Shirayuki crying...

7 - Shirayuki runs herself ragged. She has a run with Obi but it’s the soldier’s talking about her cooking the medicinal soup that alerts Zen. He tells her to sit with her eyes closed for 60 seconds and she’s out! When she wakes he tells her to tell him what’s going on. At home Prince Izana arrives!

Love love love the chapter art pages! The one with Shirazi is so gorgeous and detailed. Also I loved learning a bit about his bodyguards’ roles.

6 - this chapter is from Zen’s POV... a nearby fort hasn’t sent word so Sen goes to investigate and finds the men all sick and the armory empty. They get Shirazuki who figures out it’s the firewood. Turns out some bandits gave it to them pretending to be travelers to clean them out. Zen rectifies the situation!

She gets mad because Ryu says it doesn’t matter. The Prince comes and tells the kid to just get to know her. When he finds her crying over the Prince’s medical records he goes running for the Prince! He realizes when she comes to talk to him later that he really likes her.
