142 - Hinami fights and dies so Touka can escape withthe children. The double spread there was gorgeous, maybe the best one. Then a kagune suddenly happens? There is a weird page about the goat group but it was nonsense graphics...

141 - Yoma takes out Toru and Aura even though she almost had him. Pretty cool battle. Love the double page spreads. Wow! Hinami isn’t lasting against Suzuya,

140 - we go thru the different areas mentioned on the map, touching base. Ken considers returning to base but doesn’t. Naki dies in battle against the oggai forces. Futuba shows up 6 hrs later w/o a scratch with S3 Suzuya’s squad which has more manpower than squad zero. They battle.

140 - I know who everyone is because at the start of the chapter they did a recap map which states who everyone is! Judas is head of zero squad and he’s battling Hazuki head of the oggai whole learned about in the beginning. Yoma was doing good but Toru nailed him with some fancy knives and now Touka has one in her shoulder too!

138 - but he’s not dead of course! Even special bullets and guns don’t take him out and he jumps out the window. The other Washu shows up and jumps after him but the CCG guy gets away. Then a creepy guy who talks in symbols shows up with a sign. I am Hideyoshi Nagachika. I need your help, Urie. Yeah totally weird!!

137 - Urie heals and cuts his way out of the kajuna, they separate and he uses a shield kagune and rips off the head of Roma (in the text). Kuroiwa has enough time to apologize to Urie for not being strong enough to save his dad and Washu stabs him thru the neck... then someone shoots him between the eyes!

136 - the battle with Urie, Kaoiwa and the Kajuna is off the charts... it progresses in this chapter. Judas? Shows up looking cool and hold off Roma?

135 - Turns our the female is a super high rate ghoul who can combine with the other one. Not sure anyone is making it out, least of all Urie! The trans wants the Ogga now that they are more like mindless zombies to kill everyone. Yoma steps up to hold them off since Touka is pregnant. Only they run into a monster...

I like her!

134 - Urie and Kuroiwa fight and seemingly defeat the two ghouls... But turns out a blade thru the head didn’t kill one and she gets Urie thru the chest. The kids attack the ghouls and they attack back. Then the trans guy tells them to get back up and they start melting down.

133 - Urie and Kuroiwa’s father confront the head of the CCG but he attacks instead of listens. While the scavenger ghouls are gone the kid ghoul hunters attack the ghoul underground. We learn from one that his parents were killed by ghouls who wanted hospital waste. He breaks all the teeth in the ghoul’s mouth who mentions his teeth being so perfect.

47 - more festival but hanging out with Najimi. And a couple of the girls who like her so much. Getting the PS4 thing was super funny. And the fish game too.

46 - another cute chapter! Najimi invites Tadano and Komi to a festival and they wear yukata ! K and T hang out because Najimi double booked friends haha Komi is unexpectedly a great sharpshooter! She eventually works up the nerve to tell Tadano he looks good too.

45 - such a cute chapter! They go off to grandma’s house and meet her aunt and uncle there who have personalities just like her parents! Mom/aunt super bubbly and talkative. Dad/uncle totally silent. Gma grills her and tris her up when asked if there’s a boy she likes! We also meet her brother.

44 - on the way home Komi sees an empty park and goes and plays. When she sees Tadano ride up she spooks and runs away.

43 - haha Najimi asks Komi to come pass out tissue with him. They have boxes of this stuff... people want tissue but she’s intimidating so they won’t approach her until she works up the nerve to approach a woman who obviously needs a tissue. Turns out Tadano was in the bear costume lurking around haha

We are finally leaving Valhalla ! GAHHHHH this is so boring and long winded. I’m sick of the hating on Christianity and mocking it. The heaven reps are power freaks, and god is supposedly a jerk. Sigh. I’m really thinking of DNFing this... it’s so bad. I’ve had a whole day of reading and slogged thru 14%! It’s 🤬+🤢 all in one!

Ugh. I’m not loving the low key preaching going on. I get it, let’s talk diversity because we’re talking books... and let’s get religious wheeeeeeeee because I really love that... I do like the library culture that was created. And no nonsense Claire is a pretty good fearless leader.

Then there is the fact this is based on a podcast by the same author. The book didn’t make me want to check out the podcast. Sure Caleb’s ability made the romance different and rather special but ultimately this was just a contemporary M/M romance. Is that what the podcast is about a gay romance?

Woah that was amazingly boring and drawn out! The little bit that the other Atypicals spent in the story was really so minor. I wish they had been spread out from the beginning and the mystery about them worked into their budding relationship. To tack it on the end... yeah it didn’t work well with the M/M romance that we had going on.

So yeah C finally told A and now they’re together... uh so now what?! Talk about aimless! What’s this story about!!?

I totally see what Caleb was worried about that maybe he’s just feeling Adam’s liking of him. It’s a valid thought with his ability. I liked that he cleared his head and figured out his own feelings without any one else’s feelings muddying his thoughts.

I love the descriptions of emotions. How detailed and specific they are. I really get Caleb. How he shuts down in groups but can manage one on one. I also get Adam who doesn’t always feel what he should and doesn’t get social cues as well as others. I’m glad that they found each other as friends even if they don’t end up as more.

Hyper empathy. Love it! Caleb is s good guy. Adam is clearly queer and crushing on our boy. Who makes for a calm emotional center for Caleb. I like Dr. Bright too. And how Csleb describes emotion.

I like no nonsense Claire the librarian. Brevity is a great sidekick, enthusiastic about her role. Leto is funny, though I get tired of the worn trope of classically bad characters being good and good ones being morally grey. Can we just form up a character that is itself and not defined by their supposed moral compass?!

42 - we learn Komi is just like her dad when they go to get shaved ice! So cute!

41 - Komi goes to the library by herself and finds a book but everyone is looking at her. She bonds with a baby outside and a Tadano sees her and watches. He never tells her he’s there!

40 - Komi trips and hurts her knee so can’t go in the water anymore. Tadano sits out with her for a while. It’s pretty Cute! Najimi buys squirt guns so they can play outside the pool. It was a fun day!

39 - the pool was fun! Komi badly wants to try everything it’s so cute! They rate bathing suits and Komi wins because the popular girl insists they buy a new suit. Haha she goes on the water slide with Tadano.
