Odessa is separated by a Galla who gives her the ability to raise Cathei who died.

They fight some nomads who turn out to be more devoted who were left behind. He has a book Haidee ‘s aunt left behind too.

Odessa comes onto Lan and Lan says she was going to ask her to commit. Then shadows attack and drag off 2 minor characters. Lan goes after them, finds one alive, one dead and a set of ranger bones.

dolugongs are the fish creatures Haidee befriends. Love them!

Haidee and Arjun make a good pair... her with her mechanika and him with his desert smarts. I love how they helped the sand fish and used them to get through the desert quicker. Lan and Odessa are more irritating to me though I love their air/water ship travel. And I’m interested in Lan’s trauma.

Odessa gets her way and gets to stay on the ship because the airways they’re traveling have changed. Lan nearly falls and Odessa saves her. A bit contrived but it works for plot at least!

Haidee is visited by a mirage at the ball. Her mother goes ballistic so she runs away. She has a luggage on wheels for her gear haha.

Odessa sneaks on the ship. The nature changes are cool! The airways above the river especially. Another Galla comes... courage. I’m liking them and how Odessa realized they are the start to the oath she must do.

Arjun and his Mother Sally run into cannibal pirates, and more mirages while salvaging the meat. Turns out he’s devoted stock and so is she... a remnant of Asteria’s devoted actually. He realizes he’s going the same place Odessa is off to, the abyss!

The Galla were neat a fascinating way to interpret demons. I don’t get Odessa’s connection to them but it’s obvious she’s going with Lan no matter what her mother says.

Uhhh this writing is quite heavy. But I get she’s short and n cash, her mom is passed, her father detained. She misses them. She’s a racer. The world is under water. Snow globes are a thing.

Many of us, especially as teens, face a moment like Danny does, when we see our parents for who they truly are for the first time and must decide whether to pardon them for not being the superhero we imagined.

Everything Cougar does goes to feed his ego. That’s a sad way to live. But I still want to know my father and have the time to forgive him.

An odd ending with teen sex with people waiting who will die if they don’t return soon. She also sounds 25 and not 17 but I did like that she came to the end less delusional about her parents and knowing how she wants to proceed in life!

Come to find out he has a broken femur! Danny remembers a case study and splints it. Hopefully he doesn’t die.

Jupiter slides down the hill above the river and right into the water. Danny falls too but hits a tree and Gus and Cougar are able to pull her up. It’s Gus who fights Cougar about looking for Jupiter and not abandoning him to the river. Danny has noticed her dad struggling some but after calling him a coward he gets him off the branch he’s stuck on.

Awww I didn’t want to see Cass go! But she has a seizure and died the next day! They make it out of the swamp and finally find a river. They talk real and Danny finally realizes that Cougar wasn’t there because he didn’t want to be. That sure her mom used her to hurt him but she also was the one who stayed. Gus admits he found his mom trying to commit suicide. Gahhh how awful.

Gus is a pretty nice guy. Pays the bills for his mom with his acting after his dad died. He was on auto pilot and just flirted with her because that was what he was told to do. But Cougar... he’s such a prick. Says his biggest fear was his daughter would become a sociopath! Jupiter tried to tell her her dad knew but she won’t listen.

While I think it’s realistic how she’s panting after her daddy’s love I also think it’s unhealthy, it verges on problematic to me. 🤦🏻‍♀️ To show girls they should listen to words instead of actions... that kind of thing will lead them to unhealthy relationships.

I’m so sick of her horrible dad! And she’s facing her fears due to him but dummy he knows what’s going on with his own show. You dad came up with the plan with Gus! He didn’t even realize you are 17 when playing the lie game! He’s a jerk and didn’t go after you when you crashed! He doesn’t sleep by you in this horrible situation. He’s not worried about your only eye!

We visit Haidee of the Golden City. She finds notes from who she believes is her father... about a girl Odessa who is his child and a ritual sacrifice. Sounds like a lot of secrets.

Odessa, Breaker of Storms is in love with Lan her new catseye. She goes to do the banishing with her mother and they meet a shadow creature who shows her a vision. Their city going under the waves and not coming up...

Awww poor Sean! She has a panic attack after she finds herself alone with a dead guy in the back half of the plane. It was pretty much torture reading up to now. Her dad treats her like crap. The panic attack was pretty good and spot on for the situation.

This is hard to read... good thing it’s short. This girl is delusional!! He’s already ditching his daughter the first night and FILMING intimate moments with her that should be private... and she doesn’t get he’s using her?! GAHHHHH! And your mom was the one there, not him. You don’t need to be someone your dad is proud of... he should love you unconditionally otherwise he’s a bad dad!!

Xifeng helps them escape and Onyii ends up with cancer due to radiation. Ify is sent to space colony to get asylum. Ho hum, Ho hum. It really was sad to learn Daren was using Ify I hoped he genuinely liked the girl. Oh and Onyii’s gf is brain dead from the bomb. I just wish I cared. About Onyii, Biafra... but I just didn’t.

Oh it’s not enough for the war to be over we’ve got to kill off those responsible. Agu finds Ify on the caravan and she leads him back to Onyii who he protects with his life. Daren follows Ify who has a tracker to Onyii with a bomb. Onyii uses a mech to kill him. Ify goes on trial for it, is declared guilty and given lethal injection only Onyii rescues her.

This 3rd part is incredibly boring. I just don’t care. Not much is happening either. It all could have been summed up in a lot less pages. Or a duology should have been developed.

Abu finds Xifeng a Chinese aid worker who wants to record what happened in Africa. He protects the caravan of refugees to keep his head from buzzing. Onyii and Chinelo become lovers. There is going to be an investigation about the atrocities as part of the peace treaty. They worry they’ll be thrown under the bus.

I’m most cut up about the abd... who they slaughter or who kill themselves. Only Agu is set free. Onyii can’t kill him. It’s the only character I’m happy about. The Biafran in this story get their independence, whoop dee doo. I hope the6 felt it was worth it. I don’t know what the last 35% is about but I don’t much care.

Part 2 done. The war is over. All due to a little bad press leaking out. Rolls eyes. Daren is a mess since he takes the blame. And his sister is dead. Iffy in her tower is how the info gets out. She hates Daren because he didn’t immediately get he4 out. He shows her the memory of her mother’s death... and it happens just like he’s always said.

Now we meet Arjun, Son of Clan Oryx and sun goddess daughter Haidee. They meet a mirage who prophesy about them healing the world. We learn a bit more about the world. His clan has less and less to eat and drink because of all the pollution. They blame the sun goddess but the daughter won’t kill...
